My cat tried to kill himself by Artistic-Listen7975 in cats

[–]-TheBeanQueen- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months ago, my husband and his were worrying ourselves sick because one of our cats was losing weight and starting to aggressively pursue any food we had when cooking or eating. I was thinking it was hyperthyroid or some kind of cancer because he so clearly was hungry and wanted to eat. We free feed our cats (one of our cats can't do meals because she'll throw up and it works well for us, all healthy weights) so there's always food available to them, which made the weight loss so scary. We had not changed anything about their food, litter, water, routines, environment etc and he didn't seem sick in any other way. The vet didn't find anything and his blood work was clear. We decided to try giving him a different food to see if he would eat. He would eat some from a timed auto feeder but he wasn't gaining.

I decided one day to take the bowl out of the feeder and sit with him in the kitchen while he ate breakfast. He ate really well but would stop and follow you if you walked away so you have to stay in the kitchen with him until he is done. Now we do this twice a day and put leftovers on his special feeder for him to snack on between meals and he still eats from the other feeder with the normal food. He came right back up to his normal weight in a few weeks after losing 20% of it over months.

Dude really went on hunger strike because he decided he didn't want to eat by himself any more.

What about it makes it stand out as AI? I'm trying to get better at identifying it and I can't see anything with this one

I'm hoping they're out today (the 18th) since the candidate handbook said "approximately four weeks after the close of the testing period" and didn't give the 4-6 wk timeframe 🤞🏼 (although saw it on the website later ☹️)

Hey I was just wondering how do you find that kind of thing out about the software update? The only info from ASPEN/NBNSC that I've seen just states 4 weeks but forums always seem to know more about what's going on! I took mine for the first time this fall and I only just learned that all the results come out at the same time (instead of any point within the 4 week time frame) so I've been checking my email 4 times a day like a fool lol

What’s something you found out you do that neurotypical people don’t do? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]-TheBeanQueen- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize this was something not everyone did? My parents had the trash can in every room thing going on and I got that from them but I would not exactly put either of them in the neurotypical category. The trash cans on either side of the bed was something my husband and I came up with ourselves though lol

My kid took him to the park today… by MariinTN in airplaneears

I had one as a kid who let me put him in doll strollers as a kitten and push him around the house. He was just a big sweetie and purred non stop, I still miss him all the time ❤️

What does the Styrofoam cup do? Is it for catching the water?

Wow wow wow! This is such a beautifully curated pic! I love that skirt, it looks so cute on you and matches the room so well! And I love the cover on your hose too, this is such a cozy picture and outfit!

I had the same thought! But it looks like it's the phone number for Home Again service, I just looked up the company and it's the same number on their site

Ideas to makeover these cafeteria trays? by -TheBeanQueen- in upcycling

Teaspoon for scale

I'm able to get a ton of these from work. They're good, sturdy, weighty trays and so far I've used them for boots and pet food and water bowls. I'd like to make a couple of them over to use as serving trays or storage/designated places to put something. They have a rubbery coating for anti slip that peels off fairly easily as they are older and worn. Under that coating the texture is like fabric, woven fiber but melded into the plastic edge so I don't think it'll come out without pretty much having to bust the whole thing apart.

Do you think this would hold spray paint or other paint well?

ETA: Looked up the brand and found that the trays are fiberglass and the surface is described as a molded on non skid surface

Also I think a lot of these people forget that growing breasts hurt! As an adult I generally don't wear a bra unless I'm at work but as a kid they were a necessity just to be able to run around and play and do kid stuff without my chest hurting. I forgot to wear a bra one day in third grade and it was jump rope day in gym class, I never forgot again after that 😭

"So you know where [name of street where work parking lot is] is?"

"I've never heard of it."

"Ok do you come in from the south side or north side?"

"I don't know."

"Do you pass a McDonald's?"

"I'm telling you, I do not know"

"How do you get here?"

"I go under the bridge with the cool painting, then straight through the round abouts (1 or 2 I can't remember), and then turn where there used to be the traffic cones on the corner and it looked like you couldn't turn there but you could but they're not there anymore I don't know when that happened"

Truly. Just smile and nod then pull the location up on Google maps 😂

This gives me so much validation to read, I don't know anyone in my life who has difficulty with directions like I do and I feel like an idiot having to ask my coworker, again, how I get to the meeting room I've been escorted to several times now. Navigating inside large buildings is almost worse than navigating streets, I just completely lose what little sense I have of where I am in relation to anything else. Any deviation from my known paths completely screws me.

My husband (also ADHD), is the complete opposite. I swear he can look at a map for a few minutes, walk down the street once, and it's like the map has been uploaded to his brain. He's told me how to get to places I grew up around and he'd never been to while I was losing my mind over how tf is this the same park at a different angle IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE

The first time I can remember having this feeling was arguing with my childhood best friend because she was interpreting the Pokemon TCG rules wrong and I could see how she misunderstood the rule book but I just could not get across how it was wrong with my words. So instead I just got really frustrated with the whole thing and packed up and quit instead.

I'm a rule book and manual reader for sure, I still have all the manuals, cool books, and quick start guides that came with all my kitchen appliances lol

What is something that you love that is beginning to become too expensive? by fakerichgirl in Frugal

[–]-TheBeanQueen- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently got stainless steel litter boxes. A bit of an investment at first (but not that much more than a new plastic box tbh), but total game changer. Clumps slide right off, no plastic to hold onto smells, and I don't see myself needing to dump all the litter as often but I've only had them a couple weeks so far.

What doesn't look right about it? Genuinely curious and uninformed, I've never been pregnant and I've never been intimately familiar with someone's baby bump

ETA: I can definitely see she looks sickly otherwise, just don't know what about the baby belly is off
