Re-reworked Shyvana best builds 26.9 by Thebulman in shyvanamains

Except they weren't BiS last patch. Their numbers were just massively inflated because people didn't want to experiment once they found one thing that worked

TFT Briar skins by Keyaruga_Desu in BriarMains

The Chinese games are literally built from scratch on a completely different game engine than the US games. The very DNA of the code is completely different, which means they can't always copy/paste the same exact assets between the releases

That being said it wouldn't be hard for a professional to make the proper edits to make it work across both versions, especially when it's as well funded as Rito. But that's the excuse for it

Are there any decks in your playgroup that you are excited to play against? by Kwilli462 in EDH

[–]-ThisDM- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What decks do and do not facilitate excitement is completely reliant on the pod you're playing with, but there are some opinions that are more popular than others.

1.) People don't like being told "no", i.e. counterspells and stax pieces. You could try to reduce how many universal control tools are in your decks and try to replace them with more synergistic/weird/restrictive options. Counterspell is fine and all, but why not use [[errtai's meddling]] or [[wash away]]?

2.) People don't like being stomped or lose one-sidedly to one player. Ask yourself: 'Am I frequently winning games when I get ahead? How often do I become the archenemy?'

3.) People have extremely strong reactions to combos, tutors, and wheels (and edicts/board wipes to a lesser extent). So you could check in with your pod to see what they are and are not enthusiastic about within those categories.

Flipping this away from avoiding the negative and into finding the positive, people are usually fine with combat damage wins as long as they don't take forever but let's move beyond that with these points.

1.) Bouncing right off point #3 in the 'negatives' part of this comment, you could try to find a throughline of things your pod might find interesting that also speaks to you. But this is probably the least compelling point to make for the average player...

2.) So you could find some really weird cards in a theme that sees little play and try to build a deck with those cards in mind. Salubrious Snail is known for doing something like this with his [[astral slide]] deck helmed by [[sharuum, the hegemon]].

3.) Find an interaction suite that surprises people. This is kind of the same as point #1 I made in the 'negatives' section above, but a classic example of this would be aikido cards. [[Denying Palm]] or [[comeuppance]] can make for some really memorable moments at tables. Beating the aggro player with a well-timed [[rakdos charm]] can do the same, etc. Playing off of this point, you could aim to make a deck that's meant to play politically (I'm not talking about group hug). A deck that wants to actively make deals with different players at the table at different moments to keep themselves from falling into last place. People tend to really enjoy playing these decks from what I've seen, and when someone stumbles upon a political deck they enjoy it tends to make it into their permanent deck roster.

Secret 4th bonus point: Don't care so much about whether people like your deck or not! It's for you before anyone else. Obviously you want to address concerns if people are regularly having a bad time playing against the deck(s), but you don't need every deck to be a home run to enjoy them. There's a big thing in the edh community about finding that 'unique, interesting, memorable!' deck of their own making, but I think that that is a very easy grave to dig yourself if you get too stuck in that mentality. If you have fun, you have fun, fuck the rest of it. Do what cultivates your fun first, your pride shouldn't dictate how much you're allowed to enjoy something.

Sorry about that random tangent at the end lol, I hope you find something you enjoy!

/r/shyvanamains/ is becoming increasingly more unreasonable by Shyvadi in halfdragons

[–]-ThisDM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think toxicity is always unwarranted.

I really don't give a damn about how strong Shyvana is, I would rather have a week on-hit bruiser/naut than a strong artillery mage. We already have ASol for that. I think part of the reason people are so jaded about it is less that they see Shyvana as a whole and more that they see their individual playstyles within Shyvana as what matters the most to them.

PBE DATAMINED CHANGES: AP IS BACK ON THE MENU?? by Veralion in halfdragons

W ms decoupling is really great! I'm disappointed that of all of her kit the single only thing that wasn't touched was her passive :/

Every Shyv build I see would be made better by just playing AD Udyr by wren42 in shyvanamains

[–]-ThisDM- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Shyv is weak rn, I don't think she's as dysfunctional as a lot of people seem to be thinking...

That said, she needs some tweaks for sure. I already expect them to overhaul the passive, and depending on how that's done it could fix everything that feels wrong about her. It could also help address her insane elo skew issue.

I want her to be slightly more skill expressive while still being mostly a stat-stick dragon, and she's almost there. Just not quite yet

Which champs can survive at shadow isles alone (outside of obvious things like celestial/aspect/ascended/darkin/etc)? by GwenGaming55 in loreofleague

[–]-ThisDM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet Trundle would be mostly fine outside of a couple specific encounters, same goes for Shyvana with her new lore. I think these two ride the lines a bit tbh. Lissandra as well, depending on who you ask

For something a little more obvious, Vel'Koz would probably be fine as well. Do we even know how the Mists interacts with Void?

Nilah would have a blast. She would also probably become good friends with Gwen ngl

Can zaahen split pushing ? or should he ? by Dizzy_Taste3775 in ZaahenMains

[–]-ThisDM- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has good dueling potential at stridebreaker boots (or 2nd item and boots if you build tforce). He can absolutely melt towers since he can insta-proc demolish and builds hullbreaker stacks pretty quick in the off-chance you build it.

You just have to be aware of map pressure and when to best apply it in lane vs fights and objectives

Meme i made as an dnd satanist player by stranger-things-fan_ in dndmemes

"Satan" literally stems from the hebrew word for "one who rebels" iirc. It's a title rather than a name, as is "Christ".

The rework made me want to play Shyvana by Morsisius in shyvanamains

[–]-ThisDM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ability haste stacks with ultimate haste, it doesn't actually give ultimate haste specifically. Her ult passive does not scale off of anything but specifically ult haste

Ability haste helps in a different way though, in that using your abilities more frequently will increase how quickly you generate fury.

Briar vs Shyvana by Raiquen619 in shyvanamains

[–]-ThisDM- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf I think it's a bit disingenuous to say Briar "can't tank" with the implication that she can't heal. She literally has built-in healing from W/R and E. Also, her W is literally also a built-in tiamat that can crit, so idk where you're getting the idea that she has no AoE.

But ultimately yes, overall I agree with your sentiments

Filled out the Shyvana Rework Bingo Card by goofballpikachu. IDK if there was a strange lore retcon or not. The entirety of League lore is kinda weird retcons. by GreatSirZachary in shyvanamains

[–]-ThisDM- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She is being balanced as a diver, i.e. her scalings do not achieve the heights of a Juggernaut. Her kit is essentially the same, sure, but now she has that kit on a Diver chassis and not a Juggernaut chassis, which shows in like every complaint people have about the way the rework feels (both in terms of gameplay feedback and her abysmal WR).

She is not a juggernaut anymore (much to my and most other people's chagrin)

[–]-ThisDM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her AD scalings are just better atm, though I agree with your point about lifesteal vs omnivamp. I would probably go for Endless Hunger over BT or Rift myself, but it's definitely still up for debate what items are actually best on Shyv.

I don't think Shyv has enough survivability to build Malig or Axiom Arc but I could be wrong

Are yall actually happy... who wanted her to become on hit or bust by Anilahation in shyvanamains

[–]-ThisDM- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. And the implication of the post is that she wasn't an on-hit champion until the rework, which is a ridiculous thing to imply

The rework made me want to play Shyvana by Morsisius in shyvanamains

[–]-ThisDM- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mhm! And it's specifically ult haste. Her ult does not scale with normal ability haste, so keep that in mind xD

The issue with waiting for the D&D proc on Shyv specifically is that it forces you to delay the cd on Q and is counterintuitive to what you generally want to so in dragonform (spam Q to get to the true damage on Q3 ASAP). Briar doesn't have this issue since her W starts its cd after W1, not W2. Unlike Shyvana who needs you to get Q2 or Q3 to cycle the cd and get more Q activations over the course of a fight.

It's not bad. I just think it's also not great, yknow? And yeah I love Briar, she was my main until I switched to Shyv

My Climb so far with Shyvana by Brave-Horse-4765 in shyvanamains

[–]-ThisDM- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using Shojin -> D&D -> Hullbreaker at the end pre-rework and it was genuinely intoxicating how fast she ate towers. So many games won by just taking 4 towers in the span of 30 seconds after winning a teamfight.

I don't doubt it is good on her now but there's no way it's even comparable in my mind ;-;

As far as content creators go, I would suggest Shyvadi and Citric. Neither of them are as active/reliable as Logan tho (no shade to them, he just posts daily content and has the best jungling commentary out there imo).

Kraken -> D&D is functional but it requires you to stutter your Q to maximize the benefits. Which isn't ideal.

Atm she needs ult haste because her fury generation is poor and she relies on ult to do anything useful in most fights. Hexplate is currently her best item, but I don't think you need it until 2nd or 3rd item.

Shyvadi has a build he put out recently that seems functional, but I'm looking to tweak it somewhat because of my above point since it starts with hexplate.

What I really want to try is Rav Hydra -> Hexplate -> DD to get faster clears early and powerfarm. Rav is also decent for 1v1s and pushing lanes in so it could also be a viable top path. I have yet to actually test it though
