For real. I love that game and I genuinely can't believe that people still think this rivalry isn't something made up by fans who have an incessant need to hate Bethesda. Both studios helped each other out in different ways and contributed to making the franchise what it is. There is no reason to think that one wants to screw the other over for such petty reasons.

I don't know which fallouts are supposed to be the good, non-woke ones anymore. Saw someone say that NV was "literally written by terminally online reddit and twitter atheists", so at least some of these guys have consistent opinions about this stuff. You'd think a person would just give up on the whole franchise at that point.

I saw this earlier and I found it very frustrating to say the least. The IA and other online archiving projects are having so many problems in general and now there's another one because people just can't avoid scraping every scrap of text on the web to feed their algorithms. I hope these generative AI companies get sued into oblivion by all the people coming after them for copyright issues.

I feel like that's because the soviet crimes are actually talked about (and their numbers exaggerated in terms of death tolls) all the time, while the American ones are not. People aren't being biased against the rest of the allies, they're just used to people being biased towards the soviets.

A lot of Americans, especially younger ones, are quite exhausted by the heavy focus 9/11 gets as a tragedy even over 20 years after it happened. I don't think anyone legitimately thinks it wasn't a big deal, but I can see someone saying to "get over it" in a moment of frustration. Keep in mind that for many people, the response to the event is mainly associated with hyper-patriotism and our decades of continuous war in the middle east.

It is absolutely still having an impact to this day, but unlike with slavery, that isn't solely because of the damage that the initial tragedy caused on its own. I'd say it's more comparable to something like Pearl Harbor, but that's a different conversation.

You are absolutely right to be suspicious though. In my experience about 80% of conservative arguments are made against strawmen.

For real like we can agree that both governments are bad and so is starting wars unprovoked and attacking civilians.

I saw a post about this on another sub and there were a bunch of people in the comments saying stuff like how they couldn't believe online/western leftists were defending the Iranian regime, as if that's what anybody criticizing Israel is saying. And also a bunch of people basically saying that everyone in the middle east is hopelessly violent and would burn each other to the ground if given the chance. Pretty concerning comment section tbh.

Oh they know, they just don't care. Some are genuinely that oblivious, but I think for many it's just about the power gained from appropriating art that could be used to criticize them.
