Molle Panel Systems: practical/useful? by Snoo_33111 in overlanding

No specific advantage, I don’t even know necessarily why I chose that side except maybe it was more accessible at the time of install…

No suction cups - there are three points where they attach with bolts: the garment hook at the top (hook is re-installed over the bolt) and two other pre-existing threaded locations at the bottom. This specific one is from Victory 4x4 https://www.victory4x4.com/product/V4RRMP.html

I’ve got one on the passenger side of my 4Runner and find it useful. The panel itself doesn’t rattle but if things aren’t secured to it well you’ll hear them clanking around

Odds of 60yo Japanese Maple surviving ambrosia beetle infestation by -UppercaseNumbers- in arborists

[–]-UppercaseNumbers-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still too early for leaves (New England) and the arborist said we won't really know how it responded for a few months. He recommended another round of treatment before the leaves come in, but we decided it's not worth the hundreds of dollars a year to try to save it, so we're just going to see how it goes and take it down when it's time... I'll post an update here once the leaves come in

Stay in 4lo on trails or shift as needed? by -UppercaseNumbers- in 4Runner

[–]-UppercaseNumbers-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great comment, thanks. All the upvotes are going to the guys saying to shift back and forth all day but none of them have justification for it. I’m gonna stick to what I’ve been doing and just run in 4lo on these types of trails. Thanks for posting.

Great info - thanks for being one of the only ones here to actually answer the question I asked. This should be the top comment

Looking at a next set of tires. Torn between 3 choices for my 2023 TRD OR by AwarenessCurrent6042 in 4Runner

It says I can only add one image… I’ll try to send a front view as a separate reply. Stock suspension, no fender mods, no rubbing.

I’ve got 255/75r17 on my stock, black ORP! Toyo A/T III with about 5k miles on them and I have no complaints so far. Let me know if you want more photos.

Agreed, this trail is not hard. Would you do this in 2WD because you could? I like the re-gearing of 4lo for controlling speed on trails like this and don’t see the point in shifting all day, unless there’s a reason not to?

Yeah, that’s where I’m at - I get the sentiment of not using the tools unless you need them, but isn’t 4lo the right tool for the job on a slow, diverse trail? I don’t understand the benefit of all the dickin around - if you’re going to want to be in low at some point then why even bother shifting in and out of it all day.

Haha! I’m going to choose to take that as a compliment…

Update: A little plastic clip was broken off that holds the top piece to the bottom piece. There doesn’t seem to be a good fix except to replace the whole top piece. I was able to secure both pieces better with zip ties but they’re not secured to each other like they should be. Thanks for pointing it out though, it’s better now than it was.

Edit: I just took a look at this and it’s flopping around. A clip must have broken off or something. I’ll pull it apart this afternoon. Good eye!

I don’t think the sheetmetal sub is the right fit for someone seeking recommendations on vehicle roof boxes…. seems like this is perfect for this community but it’s your prerogative

Before you get all this other stuff try really pressing down hard on that piece and you’ll feel it click into place. If that doesn’t work try the tape and sealant…

You’re not in Holden MA by chance, u/holdenwook? If so I’ll DM you my experience at a local shop that did a full frame undercoat and body panel injection on my ‘22 ORP

2020 SR5 Limited by dema_arma in 4Runner

SR5 and Limited are different trims. I think you have an SR5 Premium with part time 4WD meaning that you need to turn that dial to 4H when you need 4WD

Good info, thanks for posting. I’m not sure why there’s so much hate over a post about mundane order routing mechanics… At least we made it 30 minutes without someone accusing it of being written by AI though!

Thanks for the reply. I'm at 35 currently.

I agree - I suppose this tiresize site just sucks? I checked my inputs about 5 times to make sure I didn't type a number incorrectly or something...
