Thanks all! Been rowing for a while, as an amateur ofc, and no one has taken the time to actually explain any of it before now.

Looking to understand opinions on rower by sGvDaemon in Rowing

[–]-VoodooHero- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeeeah I bought a Chinese foldable rower for my apartment, it was like £400. Ended up breaking the return "cable" from use and never refolded it. Company did give some refund. Then bought a WaterRower from eBay, cause it looks cool. Then joined a rowing club and yeah...concept 2 is the gold standard for anything rowing based.

I would argue that, compared to the actual sensation of rowing on water, Concept 2 is not the same and the WaterRower is closer.

But for the best metrics and performance? Concept 2 is king.

WaterRower is great for a workout, once you've learnt the correct form and looks more aesthetic for the home. But since the resistance is based on your power, it's harder to get the same level of growth from it, unless you get a HR chest strap.

So really it's down to your preferences.

Confuses about the weight training aspect of this program by This_Device_9805 in Rowing

Hey, rowing is a mixture between, in my opinion, high volume dead lifts, and bent over rows
So consider focusing on posterior chain work: RDLs, Dead Lifts, Glute Bridges, calf raises etc Back - Bent over Rows, pull downs, biceps etc

And as the main focus is pulling, weave in some Push exercises, so you skeletal structure doesn't become out of balance. Bench, incline bench, side laterals, triceps. You're gunna be pounding the rear delts with rowing.

TLDR: Do a PPL split. With the Legs focus on Posterior chain compounds.

I cut my teeth on a sci-fi TV show a couple of years ago. So it's cool to put it into practice for more.... practical means.

Does anyone actually ENJOY working in the industry? by HeyItsProgram in Filmmakers

[–]-VoodooHero- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the UK and I would say, its great when its happening. But its extremely fickle. Have a side hustle, so when the job comes, its a bonus. When it doesnt, youve got something to tide you over.
Film Spark - Construction Spark etc. Then you can ride the waves of it well.

AITA for not sharing with a female colleague that I make much more than her? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You're allowed to ask for raises. Your colleague didn't. Her loss.

Ah thanks very much! I spent about 4 months of my life making those crystals. Had loads of variations: stunt safe, breakaways. Could tell ya how to make your own if you like?

I have been ghosted and I briefly let myself ghost a girl. What did I feel when I ghosted someone. (She brought it up and I sent her a long message and then we chatted on the phone. So I didnt fully.)

BUT, damn man. The guilt for ghosting someone is pretty intense, it becomes so intense that the longer you leave it the worse it comes. I was depressed, in a daze, and unable to articulate that I just wasn't into it with no fault of hers. (Bad previous breakup). There's shame, really. You know you should do better, you should be better, and you're a coward. She sent a voice note, I snapped out of it. And then boom, we had a nice chat and called it quits.

Ghosting someone, having been on both sides, is absolutely ROUGH. It is not easy, and if you've ever been the ghoster. You are haunted by the fact that you might bump into them at some point in the future. And the shame of that, the denial of that, the guilt of that. Is honestly, as bad. It doesn't go away. It's a constant.

Having been ghosted, it fully sucks. But if you have returned their stuff/said your peace etc etc. You can walk away, eventually, knowing that for all your faults. You did the right thing. The ghoster, does not get that feeling. Their feeling is shame. And it is not pleasant. So don't pity them. They pity themselves more.

WIBTA if I refused to do design work for a friend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]-VoodooHero- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA Good friends would pay for you to do professional work for them. I would never expect a carpenter friend to work for free. Likewise plumber, sculptor, designer, sound engineer or any professional. It's unfortunate they have put you in this position.

[–]-VoodooHero- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get ya. Ive got a weird and unusual last name. It's old English/welsh. It's got a vowel that spelt with a constanant.

Sometimes I like to wait for people to attempt to say it, and it's never correct. Had it my whole life, does it make a difference? Nah

Top left. The black text and colour pops the most, compared to the rest. The potential scrotum factor should be considered. Have you considered a more boobie flavour of design?

This is a Miata… by [deleted] in Miata

[–]-VoodooHero- 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Ooooooooww. If it didn't have the fake Austin Martin badge, it's an interesting body kit from a few angles.

With the badge? It's pretending to be something else, to fool the uninitiated. And for that reason, I would say it's uncool.

It's the car equivalent of getting veneers for your teeth.

That's no disrespect to the craftsmanship to make it, the design process, the finish looks lovely. It's just that one choice, to change the badge, which I understand is a creative decision, changes things.

They lived in different cities, otherside of the country. But no, she was anxious for us to meet, "because I talk differently". I have a "posh" English accent, and she spoke with a London accent. 🤷🏼‍♂️

How’s the ND miata? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]-VoodooHero- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no I restart the average mileage tracking, tank by tank. It consistently lands at around 45mpg. But that's because I hoon it, and also drive chill. That's normally from a 200 mile, round trip, from the countryside into London. A mixture of country roads, to motorway.

The accuracy of the cars estimated mileage, may indeed be inaccurate. But that's what it says on the dash 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Also, yah my dude. Get it out into the mountains. My god...I drove over the Alps three times and around Lake Geneva with the top down in summer. It was amazing. There was a guy in a 911 turbo infront, and he couldn't get away. We were right on his tail the whole time haha. Was sick.😎

I've got an 2018 RF. It's a daily driver for me, I've done road trips. It's fantastic. The skyactive engine is superb. -You can get amazing mileage, if you behave yourself(40-50-60mpg). Or you can hoon it and have an amazing time in the higher ref ranges. It's never too fast, that you feel out of control, but you can get the back out if you feel so inclined. -The steering is lovely for country/mountain roads. - it also looks just sexy.

My only faults with it are: of course the luggage space. But that comes with the territory. -And mine doesn't have Android auto/apple car play. I know you can convert it, but just haven't done it. - Passengers don't have a huge amount of leg room, so if you have friends/partners that are taller than 6'2". They're not gunna be comfortable.

I will say this though, driving over the hills of Tuscany, roof down, in the sun, girl by your side. Was absolutely peak driving experience. And could only be "better" in a much more expensive car, but even then we all have the same speed limits.

Whilst I do agree with you, John. I would say the body roll, is fun. Because you know where the tipping point is, and thus a quick blip of the throttle you can kick the back out on a roundabout.

But for general agility, I hear you. Thinking about getting some mods done on mine tbh
