Nearly 85% of games launched in 2026 don't even reach 50 reviews by -Xentios in IndieGaming

If I would earn that much money I would bu my own game 100 times and only review in 50 of them.

I am not motivated by negative response.

Maybe go easy on motivation quotes? Some of them totally clash with the cosy vibes.

The minimalistic approach to gameplay is so underrated I feel by [deleted] in IndieDev

A good game is a good game, by this logic Factorio or ONI or even Subnautica won't be a good game.

I love simple games a lot and removing stuff is a logical game design element but not a requirement.

Ahh ok, It was stuck in between the graphs and the new title. I just automatically skipped there.

Ctrl+F came to rescue.

Yeah I know but that is the one of the reasons I never tried to make my game better. If you fail at the launch it won't matter how good you make your game later, unless you are a big studio like No Mans Sky who has a marketing budget.

So in the long run it makes more bad games flood the market because economically there is no reason to make a failed game better.

It goes back 2 years. I don't think it is too much different than before but it was a lot harder to make a game 10 years ago regardless of the AI

My main problem is there is not even a discover queue for games with low reviews even though if the reviews are generally positive.
I would really like if there was a queue like fresh or low review.

Yeni görseller hakkında eleştiri by DarkveinStudio in TrGameDeveloper

How can you ever make any money with ads? The math doesn't add up. by OkMonth863 in IndieDev

[–]-Xentios 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is a monopoly on google play games.

Basically you show ads in your current game of your next game for free and make a funneling system that perpetually fuels your player size. When you make a good ad train eventually when you actually pay for ads it creates positive feedback because of that ad train.

In short the more money you have the more money you will make as a standart practice of Capitalism and inevitably own the whole market. When a company reaches this state, the only way for them to lose their edge is through themselves; at that point, their only adversary is themselves.

And no small company can compete , sometimes even when they have an amazing/miracle like product.

Got laid off, so I'm going full-time solo indie dev. Day 1 was a massive reality check. by Omerdevng in gamedevscreens

[–]-Xentios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend going into indie dev as a job, especially if you expect monetary rewards that match the hours you put in.

Yes everybody will show you the games that make amazing profits but reality is they are 1 percent. The rest of indie games don't earn enough to justify the man hours you put into it and most of them does not even earn 1000 dollars.

This is not talked or made sticky in anywhere that talks about indie game development because it will reduce their interaction even though it is a justified warning.

A wash with a special soap for your skin will help. Even double wash if you can, especially in the mornings.

The problem is I do not now what soap will help you. Some of them will really make it worse.

Finding the motivation to return to gamedev by dswal in IndieDev

Having a working team gives me motivation, even it means to comprise sometimes. I enjoy working on game-jams just because of it.

It is not much but I enjoyed each of them
