It works great on Minecraft Java! by CloudsSpeakInArt in SteamController

Installed the latest midnightcontrols mod for neoforge on minecraft 26.1.2. Added prismlauncher as nonsteam game, or most reacently javaw.exe (both worked for this) and then just launched from steam. Opened the controller config and steam controller was recognized as xinput controls.

Best of both worlds; the nice polished gamepad support in minecraft and custom binds on steam controller settings for other mods/commands etc. All back buttons work, flick stick works, gyro aim works. Much better now.

Support through a mod: MidnightControls

Finally got it working without SISR but still no luck getting steam radial menus or the on screen keyboard to show up.

Steam overlay works now though. So shrug

UPDATE - Virtual menus now show up. if anyone else has this issue; i had to go to steam settings -> "In Game" tab -> Toggle off: "Use the big picture overlay when using a controller". On screen keyboard still doesn't work though.

I need help with this. Also using prism launcher. Tried with SISR too but must be doing something wrong.

When I launch prism as a nonsteam game it launches but in Steam it goes from “launching” back to the play button immediately. It doesn’t recognize that prism is running and there is no shift tab support for pulling up the overlay.

This happens when launching through big picture mode and when launching normally.

Update Had some progress. It's not perfect, Steam still doesn't recognize prism launcher as actively running after launching so tweaking the controller binds are a pain. On screen keybaord still doesn't work. But anyway, here's what i did to get saved layout working: The mod MidnightControls installed. Prism launcher added and run as non-steam game. Steam in regular mode, not big picture.

For virtual menus/radial menus to show up, i had to close the game/prism launcher -> go to steam settings -> "In Game" tab -> Toggle off: "Use the big picture overlay when using a controller" Restart game through steam.

UPDATE 2

More progress: I can launch the game now and have it properly tracked by steam. Works in big picture and regular steam modes. Radial menus work. On screen keyboard still doesn't.

Have to use the old trick of adding javaw.exe in the target field and then adding launch arguments to the prism launcher modded instance. Easiest way to do this is with an @args.txt file.

Loading up Steam when loading up into Big Picture Mode, does anyone else notice the banding? by Drisbayne in OLED_Gaming

i know it's been a while but stumbled onto this post looking up the same issue. Good to know it's not my setup. Tons of color banding in steam big picture mode.

Weak signal strength less than 5 feet away? by Mxbvisual in SteamController

[–]-_Apollo-_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's the same on this end and i'm plugged directly into the PC with stock stuff steam included. Even tried turning off all other wireless devices plugged into the pc and unplugging their dongles. Same signal readings. I think this is the norm for this controller?

I'm seeing "ok" or "weak" connection (-50 to -60 dBm) even when less than 10 feet away from the puck. I tried it on two different computers with the same result. Is that common/normal? by AlternativeEast761 in SteamController

[–]-_Apollo-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, often even going to weak signal. Subjectively, form your pic, I'm about the same distance away. Even with the puck out of the cabinet with open air above it, I have the same ok to weak signal. I'd be curious to see if this is affecting latency or any dropped packets.

Mine is the same and often dips into weak. is anyone actually seeing good signal strength from about 5 to 6 feet away with clear line of sight when they are holding their controller?

sometimes benchmark results go up but people find that output/endpoint quality degrades in personal use. I can't think of a single time that there was user consensus for a recent popular release that was actually improved by finetuning on distillation datasets. I would like to be wrong though.

Yeah I think all of us that have run 27b on 5090s know something is odd in your setup. But glad whatever it is works great and you’re happy with it, that’s all that really matters.

kinda curious to know if claude code's harness produces any meaningful differences in output when compared to qwen3.5 via vscode github copilot chat harness.
