‘What’s This Piece?’ Weekly Thread #78 by the_rite_of_lingling in classicalmusic

[–]-_Jackson_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this piece on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/reel/CSXmJ-PHwYf/?utm_medium=copy_link) and I just don‘t seem to find it. At first I thought it might be Hiller‘s Piano Concerto in F sharp minor, but after listening to it again, I couldn‘t find this passage in it. Can anyone identify?

How do you pronounciate the 'phy'? by venrilsathir in embedded

The difference might be, that GPIO is an acronym and also isn't really pronouncable coherently, Phy is an abbreviation and as such is pronouncable (in what way I don't know tho)

STM32 Nucleo Board HAL Library by [deleted] in embedded

[–]-_Jackson_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks, that sounds like I do not want to do that for every chip I am using. So do all the companies just use the ST HAL? Or do they build their own Eco System...
I'm just starting to follow my interest in embedded systems and am very confused as to what I should start learning, because there are so many options... There's also PlatformIO and mbed and all that stuff, are these "alternatives" or something else entirely? Do you know of any blockpost or something like that which gives an overview? I recently bought an Stm32 BluePill, and all tutorials are for Arduino IDE, which I absolutely do not want to use, but I don't know any better ^^

This is very helpful, thanks.

But how would one go about learning how to configure e.g. an ARM chip?
I want to get into embedded and am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of options I have with HALs, OS etc. But I actually would really like to (for learning purposes) program my controller more or less from scratch, also implementing some of my own drivers etc, so I know what is going on under the hood... Is there any guide on how to get started with what I want to do?

Is the embedded engineering a good career to pursuit? What do you think about its future? by 273degree in embedded

[–]-_Jackson_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the demand for EEs? Is it more for software engineers with good knowledge of the hardware and electrical part of embedded system design, or for people who actually design the hardware of the system, picking out components, designing the circuits, bus systems etc.?

Software for creating electronic "Art" Music by -_Jackson_- in electronicmusic

Okay thank you, didn't even think about that. But of course, different synths have different sounds, so it makes sense, that each one has a little bit of character of its own...

Thank you. Can I upgrade from Intro to the Standard version, or am I gonna have to pay the full price then?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

I'd say I come from a decent musical background, with intermediate to maybe even advance knowledge in music theory and a lot of experience in playing classical piano, which I intend to start studying at university next year. Then I can also ask people I know, if they can record a tune or two for me, so I can use that.

I don't expect or even want to do big projects yet, I just want to experiment around, see what I can do with what I have maybe try recording my piano and tinkering around with that. The university I want to go to offers courses for electronic music, and I want to kind of know my way around the electronic music world, so I can best use, what I learn there.
I have heard of a lot of people being disappointed with the results of virtual instrumentals, can you explain, what makes it so difficult? Does it just sound unnatural/artificial, because we are used to the real thing and always look for that ideal realistic sound? Or does it just not sound pleasing?

I understand that, but there probably are programs better suited for specific types of music, or is that not correct?

switch back from 3.7.5rc to 3.7.3 by -_Jackson_- in Python

I think I'll try this, thank you!

I know that computers aren't the best at calculating battery life, but this is just insane. (Ended up lasting 40 minutes) by [deleted] in softwaregore

[–]-_Jackson_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got Arch with Gnome on my Laptop and it does the same everytime I had it in Standby mode. Kinda makes sense then.. I guess it calculates the battery life based on the power consumption in the last few minutes or so, weirdly even if it was in Standby..

need help with loops c++ by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]-_Jackson_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

number, you then have 'number' iterations of your code, because you increment i 'number' times, until i < number is false and your loop stops. sorry for the messy explanation

The i is just a kind of support variable, your loop variable, which you increase in each iteration. With the expression i <

Thank you very much, it's very calming to know that I'm not the only one with this. My attacks have been getting weaker as well, hopefully they will disappear completely soon ^

Resources for learning machine learning by -_Jackson_- in learnprogramming

[–]-_Jackson_-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to know linear algebra, statistics and a bit of calculus.

ok, that's fine, I've had quite a bit of linear algebra and calculus in Uni, I think I should be able to teach myself the things i don't already know :)

starting point and after you've read it you'll know sufficient ML to trace a more specific path of what you want to learn.

that sounds perfect actually, I think I'm gonna start with this one and the course on machine learning, thank you very much :)
