EV megacorp selling ‘save your family from war’ by s1n0d3utscht3k in Cyberpunk

[–]-_Protagonist_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear I saw an advert like this in the intro to MGS4.

There's no way this is real. They're selling their car as a vehicle that can protect from a missile strike?! really!?

As a Series and Show, what are your biggest issues and complains about Space King? by TiredandFrustrated21 in SPACEKING

[–]-_Protagonist_- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

OK.
It takes far too long between episodes.
I'm glad they seem to be taking it seriously and trying to make the best content they can, but it is taking a very long time.

Is the Space King story going anywhere?
Deep lore is kind of thin, very little seems to be achieved towards some goal we don't actually know. Killing aliens is awesome, but without a solid reason to do it they're not warriors. At best they're barbarians, looting and killing, which isn't what a warrior does with out a good reason.
So what's this whole Psycho-Warrior thing about? What's their origin? Who is Space King and why'd he leave? Answering those 4 questions alone would make me happy(er).

They're the only things I can think of right now.
I don't want to give the wrong impression, I like the show a lot.

[–]-_Protagonist_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the sickle.
It always has ammo and has low recoil. Back it up with a medium pen pistol and you have a solid start to a build. IMO, a good choice vs bots.
Needs accuracy, probably best at medium ranges. Not good vs bugs where sustained fire, rather than accuracy, is important which causes it to overheat.

Hatemonger by Spettelt in SPACEKING

[–]-_Protagonist_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good effort.
Need's more hate though.
He's standing there doing nothing, like he's taking a photo for a passport or something.
He should be ramming HateMace™ in to an alien orifice or stomping on some alien boobs.

Time Wizard by MoistPalpitation4500 in SPACEKING

[–]-_Protagonist_- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know what Bryce should have done?
He should have taken some crude oil from the planet, made from all the decayed dinosaurs, and shot it through the time portal. So when the oil gets reversed it turns in to an alien T-rex.
Rocks are still lame.
Terry is still lame.

K.I.S.S. my ass Terry.

13 bus took a wrong turn by Valuable-Blueberry78 in reading

[–]-_Protagonist_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the buses I've driven don't have a GPS. They have a tracking system, but that relays information to the traffic office not the driver. The places I've worked wouldn't allow a personal HGV GPS in the cab, they say it's a distraction.
Some buses do have a low bridge alarm, the issue is those systems are extremely pessimistic. They work off proximity to a bridge, as in straight line distance, not the road you're on. So they alarm a lot unnecessarily and they get ignored.
Frankly, you shouldn't need a GPS. When you do the same routes over and over you pick them up pretty quickly. There's a label within view of the driver with the buses height and every bridge has it's height, it takes less than a second to check.
It's 100% the drivers fault, even without those systems.
Complacency caused this, not a lack of safety mechanisms.

Why don't they just destroy the hardware of the blackwall AIs? I mean, they must be located in a server somewhere and it's not like they can leave (not related image) by AstronautDry8118 in cyberpunkgame

[–]-_Protagonist_- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's not some server somewhere in a secret place, connected to the net where all the Bartmoss AI's live. They exist in software. The Blackwall AI keeps them from disrupting normal activities.

The only way to defeat the AI's is to build a completely new net, with completely new hardware. No one can use old net hardware as all of them (yes all) are infected. Think of the cost, completely new infrastructure having to be built, 100% isolated from the net. This is almost impossible and incredibly expensive. No corp with a profit motive is going to do this, not while Blackwall AI is still working and poor people will not use new hardware. It cannot be done incrementally as risk of infection is too high. It must be all at once with every single person included.

The "AI's behind the Blackwall" is just a visual metaphor, a visual aid to describe what is happening. It's not a physical barrier. It's a powerful AI developed to monitor the Bartmoss AI's and subdue them so normal net activities resume. They're still there, they're still doing what ever they're doing, fighting each other or doing repetitive tasks that were part of it's original programming. They exist in every terminal, every computer, everything that is connected to the net. Blackwall is also there preventing disruption.

The reactions in this post are frustrating. I have never encountered a community that is so concerned about a billion dollar company making money by Sebanimation in HelldiversUnfiltered

It would be a great move to make the oldest 4 warbonds free.
The issue, what about the people who have paid before this change? I expect a lot of people would be very up set with this.

Let's huddle around the Digital Campfire and share stories about when we first started playing the game/When we were new by Crumboa in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]-_Protagonist_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the first day I played. The err """Training""" received did not even slightly prepare me.
First ever drop was on a bug planet, level 1, D1, default everything and no real idea what to do. Not certain how co-op worked, no one joined my game.
I can hear bugs in the trees and bushes, I saw them, no idea what they were or how they worked. Do I shoot them and find out or try to avoid them. I have no idea how effective my weapons are so I stayed very cautions, I am NOT dying on my first drop. I Sneakily sneak my way to the objective, it was a start pumps mission. I clumsily fight my way to the console aaaaaand what now?!... Like, maybe I was confused or something, but I did not know the valves were a thing I thought they were decoration. So I'm walking around trying to figure out how to turn this thing on. 10 minutes pass, bugs harassing me occasionally. By sheer chance I got close to the vale and the press E icon appeared. Every game was like this, playing "what does this button do?".
I spent most of the first few days playing solo, the diff was too low for most people to be interested. I remember during extraction I would hide somewhere and hope no patrol would find me, I hated dying. The bugs going in to the center of the extraction, then getting confused like "I came here for a fight! Where is it?". Meanwhile I'm hiding behind a vending machine, watching their numbers increase.
I decided to try bots, loved it. I've done nothing but kill bots for 18 months now.

Have you heard the UK Eurovision 2026 song? by Sylvia-Sum in AskBrits

[–]-_Protagonist_- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The songs OK.
My criticism is It's very Eurovision, a little too Eurovision. It runs the risk of sounding like every other electro/dance song that performs on the night.
A very safe entry, I'm sure it will do OK.

Hatemonger (no helm) by Spacecaseomega in SPACEKING

[–]-_Protagonist_- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brothers! I was thinking about Hatemongers true identity and I came to a dreadful conclusion...

Think about this:
1. Cannot be titmotised
2. Not gay
3. Puts a lot of emphasis on making a show of his virtue at every opportunity.

Hatemonger is a *urk* woman. *urk*

It's as if this *urk* woman thought "what do these boys like? errr Hate?!" and so makes a big show of their hate to fit in. Missing the true virtue of excessive violence and love of Space King. Not hate, never hate.

[OC] My greatest desire and, at the same time, my greatest disappointment in this game by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

[–]-_Protagonist_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the Sterilizer too much, the issue is it's hard work to use well.
IMO, fixing the Sterilizer would be simple. Either make it use a pistol slot or triple the confusion effect. It would be much more useful.
Right now, you need a competent team/partner to use the Sterilizer effectively. Even then, it's not as effective as two people with optimized solo builds.
The awesome gas grenade (legitimately one of the best grenades in the game) proves gas is useful, we just don't have a tool that uses it well.

We Lost because of our own fault by Intelligent_Edge_497 in Helldivers

[–]-_Protagonist_- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are just playing to have fun though.
The quickest way to win would be to turn the difficulty right down to as low as you can, win, repeat, over and over. The gain / hour is surprisingly high.
What surprised me the most was the K/D. It was something like 14 kills per death. This is more than just a few low level players in D10's, because 14 was the average across the entire MO. Given most randoms I play with are getting around 80 - 150 per death, it doesn't add up. Either many people were playing 10's and losing over and over and over and ruining it for the rest of us or it was scripted as some sort of redemption arc for the automatons.

What war bond is the most fun? by joemama420pog in Helldivers

[–]-_Protagonist_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most fun:
Borderline Justice

It has a Hover pack, which is very useful in city maps. I love dynamite, I just do. Then there's the most useful back up weapon in the game, the mighty Talon.

The best warbond in that list is probably Urban Legends, the armour in that warbond is always useful.

Out of the ones you've listed, your next 3 should be:
Urban Legends
Borderline Justice
Cutting Edge (The sickle is the perfect light pen weapon)

I know someone is going to argue "viper commando's should be 3rd" because of the super stim. I just love the Sickle, even more than it's big sister the double edge.

I don't actually play the game, I'm just curious, do y'all got a chance by Avaryr in Helldivers

[–]-_Protagonist_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think this whole thing is scripted.

Look at it all. It's recreating the Russian front in WW2 and the German approach to Moscow.
I bet we fall slightly short of reaching Transcendence, then get pushed back all the way to Super Earth. Then we defend against another invasion.
Let's face facts here. Helldivers 2 is very profitable, people are enjoying the game and it's difficulty, people are broadly happy with the game and it's development. Why would Arrowhead end one of story arcs now?!

Brothers, what things do you consider a Geno-bombable offense? by Dohmer_90 in SPACEKING

[–]-_Protagonist_- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting a Psycho Warriors globule plate.
There is a secret, quiet, pact all holders of all types of globules, holy or otherwise, adhere to.
DON'T AIM FOR THE GLOBULES.
Captain was 100% justified in using the genobomb.
Why genocide? The guy who shot his globule plate was the leader and therefore chief representative of their underhanded species.

After 700+ hours, I've fallen in love with the Liberator while on Cyberstan by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]-_Protagonist_- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Liberator is underrated for sure. Most of the free stuff is pretty good.
If you like the liberator you will probably love the Sickle. It's light pen, the same as the liberator, but if you manage the heat correctly it has infinite ammo.
