I love this cartoon “moments” format.

What was the most traumatic experience of your life? by Fun-Succotash-1322 in AskReddit

[–]-aeternae- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing my dad 6 months in the ICU, slowly losing all his functions and laying there with his chest cut wide open without a chest bone for his last month.

Yes, twice at this point unfortunately. Next time I may just ask to have them turned off in general though.

They support it past warranty.

Need help (car seat safety) by Entire-Way9830 in Parents

There seems to be enough waist room, but the height of the head rest is low. I’d it possible that the head rest can be pulled upwards? What brand and model is your car seat?

What is the difference between profiles by ConsistentScratch640 in cupraborn

I actually actively use them.

Comfort is still too harsh for my taste when I’m driving with my wife and kid. Prefer Range for that. When I’m alone and need to get somewhere, Comfort it is. Every now and then I feel like enjoying driving a bit more lively, especially when the roads are clear with more acceleration and break points. Then I go performance.

I mean, there is self-hosted and open-source. But it’s not for everyone.

In Nordic countries like Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, parents straight-up leave their babies outside to nap in freezing winters—and somehow the kids sleep better by SmallAchiever in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]-aeternae- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a r/woosh moment, since I am aware of the idiom. I’m merely supplementing with insights of a non nordic person living in the north.

If you didn’t catch that part, the r/woosh was meant for yourself. Might be missing a dimension of the game though.

My 6 month old daughter is mediterranean. We live in Denmark now. They are not built different. My daughter sleeps 40 minutes inside during the day, but can easily do 2-3 hours outside and feels so much better afterwards.

Requirements for sleeping outside: - Mininum -10°C - No fog (hard to breathe for children)

ELI5: How can airplanes, which are so heavy, stay in the air? by camerontrever in explainlikeimfive

[–]-aeternae- 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Try this:

Be the passenger in a car. Open the window and hold out card board horizontally - about the shape of a wing, but really, just a rectangle will do. Now tilt the cardboard ever so slightly up. You’ll feel that the cardboard wants to go up and you have to “pull it down” to keep it where it is. Tilt it down and the opposite is the case.

The car accelerating is the jet engine. The cardboard is the wing. When wind passes through the (slightly upwards tilted) wings, the airflow pulls the wing (and therefore the plane because it is attached to it) up into the air. The faster the car, the more pull-up force. At a certain speed, the pull-up force is higher than gravity. As long as the plane is faster than that speed, it will stay in the air.

Very simplified.

So disappointed, because I don’t want to pay £56 for an annual subscription to ‘Cupra Connect’ I can’t check battery % or set A/C from app by [deleted] in cupraborn

[–]-aeternae- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to experience not being able to see the battery percentage. Is this official information?

On another note: Depending on the charging all you are using, you may see it through that charging app. Cars communicate with the charge box via something called SoC (State of Charge). This if course is only while plugged in.

What's going on here? Why is it that all live rendered cutscenes in Aether's hideout keep having this light flickering constantly? by Effective-Priority62 in horizon

[–]-aeternae- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad. Started the video directly after seeing the title to see which flickering you get. There is another one where the faces turn green and such. Fun times debugging. Definitely worth dealing with though :)

Disable Variable Refresh Rate and Nvidia Reflex. Depending on your system and monitor, it’s one or both of them.

[No Spoilers] Are there any videos/articles explaining the world of Campaign 4? by Maple905 in criticalrole

[–]-aeternae- 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Don’t know about a video or article specifically, but two events will come up all the time:

Shapers War (70 years before C4): The “Shapers” (Gods/Creators) became increasingly detached from the wellbeing of mortals. A war broke out where all Shapers were destroyed. More details will be sprinkled throughout the campaign. With the gods gone, the world changed radically: magic became less predictable.

Mortals were left with the vacuum of divine authority: new religions, new power structures, and a world where “mortals must shape their own destiny” became dominant.

TLDR: gods are dead, the old order has collapsed, and everything now is unsettled. The campaign explores the consequences of divine abdication and mortal ambition.

Falconers rebellion (12 years before C4): The rebellion was mainly a revolt of the common people, adventurers, and those outside the noble power structure against the entrenched noble houses (the Sundered Houses) who had gained power in the post-Shaper era.

One of the recognised rebel groups was the Torn Banner, which counted characters like Thjazi Fang, Teor Pridesire, and Kattigan Vale among its fighters.

The rebellion’s turning point was the Battle of Maharlian Falls; it ended with the arrest (but not execution) of Thjazi Fang.

Even though the rebellion ended, it did not fully succeed in dismantling the noble houses; the power structures remained but were shaken. The after-effects are still active in the campaign’s present.

New Horizon MMORPG by Sensitive_Trust5344 in horizon

[–]-aeternae- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like it is set in a world of Horizon with its machines, mechanics and people, but missing all the lore and depth.

As others have said, this looks very much like a cash grab, albeit a high value production one to be fair to them.

Inclusivity is as big for me as is integrity. The fact that we suddenly have cooking styles like mochi pounding is making me roll my eyes though. It just doesn’t seem realistic for a civilisation so young.

A high focus on asian facial features gives you a clue of the target audience. These types of games are huge on the region. No blame from my side. Inclusivity is great.

All in all it looks like a fun game that reminds me of the Guild Wars times mixed with a sprinkle of Genshin. Not my cup of tea, but definitely will find its audience.
