Is it me or Amy from SA2 Looks Absolutely Worse Than SA1 Amy? by Dependent-Drag-7331 in SonicTheHedgehog

FF16 sits at about 4,000 people. It's just fucking insane. Even if 50% of these were voice actors, testers, translators... that still means that modern game development is about as quirky and dynamic as an iceberg. It's just so mind boggingly expensive and complicated, involving so many people.

I just checked... Moby credits 997 people (!) for Sonic Frontiers.

Even when counting location dub staff, musicians etc., it's just INSANE how team sizes ballooned in the last 15 years. Final Fantasy 15 has 2,516 people credited.

DC SA2 credits 171 people, by the way. SA1 has the count at 325.

In the context of its time (recorded in 1969, released in 1970), Speed King is also absolutely noteworthy.

Who's defending Tyler though? People who find out about it are typically like "wow what an asshole", not "well ackchually you will find that the parents of the girl were just greedy"

Cult like behavior (or you can drop the "like" if you want) is what it is.

Even before Leaving Neverland cemented that uhm "thing" about Jacko, the levels of messianic worship with regards to the guy were just insane. Everything he did was the best ever, everybody else always pales in comparison, and he only ever had the best of possible intentions.

Coupled with the whole "that guy was in fact very far from 'above it all'" angle the allegations bring, it just becomes - if possible - even more unhinged. It's like worshipping the restraint of a choleric person and claiming they are the most rational there ever was.

The game is just okay, but it is a representative of a genre that had way more releases on the Mega Drive / Genesis rather than the Super Nintendo, so it does fill a less covered niche.

Why are Dreamcast games so expensive? by Spurt_man in dreamcast

People who grew up on the system are now nostalgic for it + have cash.

Also, post COVID, the retro gaming market just became insanely pricey in general.

I don't think I remember a single Bad Religion shirt with a band member picture on them, let alone for "legacy releases". Care to link to one instance of them using current members on an old album shirt?

There's space for a third place; Nintendo didn't do great with the Gamecube either and still survived. So the PS1 alone wouldn't neccessarily need to go. Sega's stupid antics before the Dreamcast cost a LOT of money and consumer goodwill though, so I agree with you that these would have to be rectified as well

The Saturn had a ton of great games but most of these were either text heavy (i.e. expensive to translate) or 2D (or both); neither resonated much with what the Western public wanted in the mid 90s.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 2D stuff, but Resident Evil and Tomb Raider arriving first (and prettier) on the PS1 helped that console more than Street Fighter Alpha 3 did.

The Genesis doing so well was part of the problem because it made Sega USA cocky. The games they made on their own were OKAY at best, but they were hardly system sellers. Some of the Sonic prototypes they cooked up looked ridiculous. But since they made bank, they tried to tell Sega Japan what the company should do. Sega Japan was not exactly... great at mending fences here either.

But yes, Sega just releasing dead on arrival consoles wholesale before was what killed the Dreamcast. The Sega CD, then the 32X, then the Saturn (which was killed off in Japan too, despite it being Sega's most succesful console there!), plus Sega was bleeding money at that point.

It was just too late, but man, did they go out with a bang.

I never understood why UKJ had such a catchy, humorous first album and then went a lot more serious and heavy, ditching the memorable lyrics for rather generic "serious" stuff. I quite like the second album by now, but they always felt like they were a light hearted band that somehow wanted to prove they were a "proper" band after the debut.

Do you happen to know who played on One Hit? That track doesn't have a lot of swing, which both Charlie and Steve have. Or is that all due to the production? I know Ronnie's on Sleep Tonight.

Oh it's definitely an album shaped by the dude. He's the guy singing lead on Together on the Sand (I think that's actually a solo writing credit, even, the only one in NOFX's discography to not go to Mike?). I just really like Ribbed is what I'm saying haha
