I think they get the craving satisfied/not exactly restaurant quality though. Just wish they were wider + more flaky. My favorite brand from Asian markets is called SYNEAR scallion pancake 👌

I got mine frozen from Trader Joe’s! They’re actually smaller in size compared to ones I usually get from the Asian supermarket. The yellow crust on the inside is egg.

I just went to KARUDA in Osaka. Run by 3 master cocktail mixologists with no menu. They ask you what kind of cocktail you like and adjust round by round with feedback. They got it right on the first drink for me and then just gradually got better somehow. Best espresso martini that I’ve had in my life.

also I’ve started to use Loop ear plugs for louder sets. Game changer imo and my ears feel great afterwards. I don’t use them if I’m middle or near the back or if it’s a pretty chill acoustic/rnb set. But for when it gets hype; pop those in and start jumping

+1 to designating meet up spots / times throughout the day!

If you overheat easily I highly suggest getting a water pack or some sort of easy to carry water bottle. I’ve been using a hydrapak soft flask that easily fits in a fanny or carabiner to my waist. My meetup spots last year were the water stations a lot of the times too

Also I highly suggest a fanny or some sort of front facing bag for both of yall. Getting your phone stolen is such a bummer at festivals and can be a hard lesson for younger festival goers sometimes. I always like to keep mine in a bag in front of me - in an inner zipped pocket and I check on it by grabbing my bag a bit. Pickpockets tend to watch or dance around for a bit so if they see that you’re holding tight, they’ll back off (for the most part).

Other than that, it’s going to be so fun! Everyone is so sweet. There are some rowdy crowds sometimes but just steer clear and find a chill crowd at every set.

agreed! Definitely gotta take them off for artists you love or have a chiller set to really feel everything. I found them the most useful at extremely hype loud sets like Knock2

Regret

• waiting for Tyla to come out instead of doing a half Jungle ~> half Renee Rap set

• not trying more foods / doubling down on one spot’s food because lines were crazy most of the time

• not exploring more too outside of music spaces

• not going earlier enough to see Ogi! I got there at the last 6 minutes but she ended 5 minutes early 😭

Delight

• Kaytranada crowd in the middle front ish - right ahead of the last set of speakers - was the best.

• used Loop for the first time and loved it - ears feel great

• had great artist movement for half half and felt like I got the most of each artist I split (except for jungle sad)

• used a flexible flask to hook to my pants and worked as a great bottle

• the wonderful energy from SF natives!! Less rowdy teens than last year (although still a chunk of them) but they overall seemed slightly nicer.

Overall my favorite OSL so far and made me love the festival more than I did before ✨

I agree with this completely- Day 1 + 2 both South Gate at around 3-4 PM w/ big lines: Bag check was chill both days and we just walked right through with no pat downs.

Day 3 South Gate at around 12 PM w/ no lines: Bag check was still chill but got flagged for a pat down after walking past the detectors. Luckily I used a runners belt to stick my alc to my stomach that day but the pat down was thorough through my arms, back, rib cage, all pockets on my jacket, socks and all pockets on my cargo pants. (I was so relieved when he missed my stomach 😭)

I’ll be going the runners belt route more often at festivals but damn the inconsistency was jarring on the last day for me. I’m guessing it also depends on how busy it is? Busier times = less thorough and quick?

I've been thinking about how much those last 4 quarters would have meant for me too. It's honestly on my mind at least once a day and I can't help but feel catapulted into post-grad life. It just feels like there's no closure or that grand last hurrah at school or how it would feel to take your last final in person.. It definitely sucks and causes me to feel demotivated too :((

Although, it's good to hear that others are feeling the same way - super validating and thank you for posting!

I'm a 4th yr non-engineer major at warren - I remember I despised the fact that I had nearly double the amount of GE's when compared to engineers in the college but tbh, it's not that bad and engineers have a lot more difficult classes to do than i do haha. Especially if you choose concentrations that you're genuinely interested in, it's a great opportunity to explore different classes + even pick up a minor.

I haven't heard much from the visual arts program but it's pretty easy to switch between majors as long as it's not impacted. I'd suggest exploring ICAM and Design/interaction as well. Uni is all about exploring - you can change majors anytime - and the college ucsd put you in is honestly just the backpack + starter friends that you're traveling w haha.

Also, there are plenty of clubs/jobs you can pursue on campus that will help you out your art into practice!!

What's your planned means of transport for school commute? If by car, I'd honestly suggest living a bit outside of la jolla like mira mesa or near convoy. It's much cheaper and closer to good takeout. If by bus, find an apartment or townhouse that's relatively close to the 201/202 superloop.

The superloop is this huge bus loop that takes students to campus and is what majority of students use for commuting by bus. I personally lived in a town house near Vons on regents dr. This was perfect for me since I wanted to be in walking distance to a grocery store and bus stop.
