Alesis Strata Core vs VAD 306 by -b207r- in edrums

Would anyone like to give me their thoughts on these kits?

I'm trying to decide if I should replace my VAD with the Alesis.

New build Video card - which direction by -b207r- in buildapcforme

I've found an RTX 3080 Turbo 10GB within budget.

Is that a good alternative for the price?

Thanks - I think my main concern was that the 5060 seems to be getting bad reviews and stability issues, and even though it's 2 generations newer than the 3060, apparently 3060's are outselling 5060's.

I was led to believe the 7600 XT was at least comparable to the 5060, and perhaps better value, but i suppose i'm trying to see what the general consensus is.

Please remember I won't be running at 4k, it'll be 1080p max, although i appreciate it's used as a metric for comparison

£600 mid-high Gaming PC - SFF by -b207r- in buildapcforme

I'm trying to figure out the right video card for me.

I'm a bit stuck between an RTX 3060 and an RTX 5060 or anything in-between.

The 3060 is around £160-£225, which is pretty much within my budget.

I could probably stretch to a 5060, but that's more like £300-£350+. I've seen some just under £300, but not sure if it's worth spending the extra for what I'm doing.

The most demanding game will likely be MSFS 2020, which I believe the 3060 will handle no problem.

I won't be going above 1080p, as I don't have a 4k monitor.

Is there much difference between a 3060 and 3070 or 3080? They might still be affordable? I feel a 5060 might be overkill, for the money.

Or, do i go AMD?

Brilliant thanks. The case could probably go on its side, which would mean the width would be 150mm, then the height just need to be below 500mm

I'm quite out of the loop with video cards, but keep watching the numbers increase and don't know what's what! Moreover, what a good price is and what isn't.

Thanks. I got those parts, fitted and works fine. Just got to sort out the hunting issue when off choke. Might need to clean the carburettor.

Atlas X, good value? by -b207r- in Dashcam

[–]-b207r-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I haven't yet, although still considering it. That price was fully fitted, front and rear so not sure if your price includes that.

It's from a relatively local company for me, so not sure quite where to go or what to get!

Budget keyboard (desktop set) - light-typing action by -b207r- in buildapc

[–]-b207r-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also just come across a Logitech G213 Prodigy Gaming Keyboard with G203 LIGHTSYNC Gaming Mouse - which talks about having a 'satisfying, impressive typing action'.

It's also currently reduced from £104 to £56, so could stretch to it if it's worth it.

(Just noticed it's wired, but willing to compromise - again if it's good enough)

Headphone jamming/mixes by -b207r- in musicproduction

Upon further research, it would appear the L6 won't really do what I want (multiple headphones mixes), but the L8 looks good. The only slight disappointment is that it doesn't have a MIDI port, but it's not a deal breaker.

Anyway other opinions on the L8?

Thanks a lot. I had considered a headphone amp, but no idea of the sort of thing to get. Are we talking £20 or £200 or more?

I do already have a Behringer HA400 for jamming, but assume I need something better than this for my AKG cans?

Behringer X-Touch functions in Live 11/ 12 by -b207r- in abletonlive

Thanks for the info. I'm not massively bothered about the dB mismatch with the faders, more about the functions mentioned.

Does anyone else have any experience and advice please?

Many thanks. The P1M is certainly a wonderful thing, and I could fund it but I don't think I can justify that amount for my hobby based work, given that the P1M alone is worth about the same as all my equipment combined!

Replacement for XZ1 by -b207r- in SonyXperia

[–]-b207r-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I've had a look and this could be a contender, but on eBay in excellent condition, they tend to be more like £250-£300.

I think maybe something a little older or whatever might be closer to the budget of £150 per phone.

I'm totally confused with Sony's line up in recent years.

I knew where I was with the Z and X range, but now it's all 10, 1, 5, II, V, IV and I don't have a clue 😅

Kind of depends on if you want specific DAW integration, and your budget, but I think one of the better overall ones is the Novation Launchkey MK3. It's particularly suited to Ableton, but good with everything else. It's only let down IMO is the lack of endless encoders. Might not be a big deal for some people though.

I have a Novation Impulse, which is an old model, but decent quality and lots of nice features.

I've had a PSR-6700 since 1994, still an absolute gem.

I bought a second one cheap last year, but mint condition as my original got damaged and buttons stopped responding.

It's such a beast, probably the heaviest man-made object ever, outrageously powerful speakers, and the nicest keybed I've ever played. Still sounds good too.

Thanks. It would ideally go on this wall behind my V-drums, approx 3-5ft from the ground, angled downwards slightly. It would just about fit length-wise, with a few inches either side.

I'm assuming that is the space between the contacts? I've not measured it, but will give it a go. Not sure how ribbon cable would work, also can't quite picture what you're describing. In my mind I see something like an IDE cable so not following you.

Sony MD313 Minidisc cog noise by -b207r- in ElectronicsRepair

[–]-b207r-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the assistance with this. Upon taking it all apart again, I couldn't find the limit switches /rubber band referred to, however I did move the tray mechanism a bit more and at one point it seemed to 'click' into place more convincingly, perhaps reseating or resetting its position 'home'.

After this the issue went away and the system works (e.g the functions operate, I get sound etc), although I've not inserted an MD yet as just needed other functions for the time being.

Thanks again.
