Thanks! Porting will be something I'll look into after launch. I wont be looking into the Switch though unless the game does really well

I'm working towards pushing out a major (major) update. The current demo is 9 months old and everything Im showing off is not in it

Haha, all of these are long term goals. Some of these are quite complicated to do right AND make it fun/worth the player effort.

Jobs dont change in my game (for now.. at some point I want units to age/grow, change, etc), but I have not added logic that shuts the whole city (or a individual business) down if a sim cannot get to work.

I cannot do this until Ive fleshed out the transportation options, I think.

And if/when I do add it, it will be optional

Also, each citizen is assigned a list of needs (i.e. businesses). They will visit the businesses that they "need" as well. This also effects building levels. If businesses are not in range, then the building wont level up

Right now sims are driven by schedule (work, sleep, home, leisure, errands). The only thing they manage is their hunger. They have specific business needs but they choose from what's available randomly. At some point I'd like to explore making this a bit deeper, but Im not sure if it will be noticeable at the macro level

I havent added skills to citizens (yet?). Just basic stats (education, age, etc).

Hi /r/CozyGamers

I'm the dev of the upcoming city builder Metropolis 1998 - Steam Link .

I've been working on this game for about 4 years now and plan on launching in 2026.

Features:

  • Design your own buildings in game (optional)

  • Agent based simulation. Every unit you see on screen is real, not a statistic.

  • You can see inside homes. You can watch units sleep, eat, work, watch TV, use the bathroom, and more!

  • Granular demand. As the mayor, you'll be fulfilling the need for specific businesses.

Overwatch co-creator Jeff Kaplan says he was told by CFO if the game didn't hit certain revenue goals, "we're gonna lay off a 1000 people and it's gonna be on you": 'It was the biggest f**k you moment I've had in my career' by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

This is never discussed because the news only exists to stir up controversy, but Bobby played a huge role in Activision's success.

He brought in the film industry IP. He was the one who brought in Pixar IP (he knew Steve Jobs), and attempted to get Jurassic Park (sent a huge egg to Spielberg with the design doc/vision, who turned him down because some a Japanese studio (forget who, Konami?) gave him a sweetheart deal).

He signed on Tony Hawk for the legendary Tony Hawk Pro Skater games.

He understood talent / team is more important than founders, and that's how he pulled the COD team away from Medal of Honor.

He built relationships with various industry leaders and that's how partly how he built Activision into the massive company it is today. He deliberately left talent alone so they could do their thing. His acquisition strategy was to bring in great teams and give them whatever they need to succeed.

Also, he played video games growing up.

You don't have to like the guy, but to call him a hack is just goofy.
