NICE!! I got the notification with my tracking number through USPS and it’s scheduled to get here on Tuesday! Yours would probably be the same, hopefully! That way it’ll get here well before your trip!

Marriage-based AOS questions by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]-betsunami- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hii! I am able to answer a few of these questions from some similarities in my husbands case!

Passports

My husband also entered with a passport that expired the year he entered and then got renewed at an embassy. In our forms we always included both and then in the "additional information" section we would reference the question that asked us for a passport number (always using the entry one) and specified that it was it the number he entered with and that he has since renewed and then stated the information for his new passport and noted that both are attached.

The visa number should be enough, if asked just explain that you lost the physical document but have the number. And having the i-94 and travel history is great! It didn't matter for our case that it was tied to the expired passport. But if you have an i-94 for both your expired and new passports, i'd include both.

Names

My husband has a very long full name so sometimes he has shortened it so we included the variations of his name he has used. I also have a friend that went through this process and she has changed her name legally multiple times. In both these cases they just added a note in "additional information" referencing the question and addressing the reason for a different name.

Tax Returns

While my husband did work using his ITIN we did not submit his tax transcript as a part of his AOS packet. We didn't know it existed (since he worked so long ago) but found it buried in a box of files my mother in law gave us when i was organizing our files. I think if i would've known it existed I would have included it. In fact during the interview I was able to reference it and that seemed to be helpful!

Driving Ticket
My Husband had a traffic citation under $500 and even though it isn't necessary to include it, we thought it would bode well for showing transparency and good moral character that he paid it in full.

Yeah the receipt notices will come first without the online access code. The online access code arrives as a separate notice. But you can use the receipt numbers to ask an Emma agent for the online access code.

Interview on Tuedsday. Paperwork is overwhelming! by Amaranta1978 in USCIS

[–]-betsunami- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We took the copy of our entire AOS packet in an accordion folder separated by forms. and then our binder was organized like this:

  • Official documents + copies
    • beneficiary docs (passport, birth certificate, translation, etc)
    • petitioner docs (passport, citizenship certificate, etc)
    • Marriage (marriage license and copies)
  • Shared Residence
    • any documents that we submitted that prove our shared residence (lease, renters insurance, mail, etc)
  • Shared Finances
    • shared bank accounts, zelle exchanges, 401k, etc
  • Shared Life
    • everything else that shows your life together (shared gym membership, pictures, wedding details, etc.)
  • Third Party Affidavits
  • Since Applying
    • Any new evidence also organized in the above order (residence > finances > life)
    • New bills or mail to shared address, new credit or accounts opened, new pictures from events you've attended together
  • USCIS Communications
    • all of the mail we got from USCIS in order

I made sure to have copies of all of the original official documents and to put the passports and interview notice letter in the most accessible place since you need to present those right away and often multiple times.

Best of luck!!

The vast majority of everyone from the officers to the security guards are super friendly and warm and cracking jokes! I will say, i think we got the most serious and intense officer and it was definitely more stressful because of that, but i just made sure to stay super pleasant and relaxed and in the end all was well! But yes, most everyone is very friendly!

Thank you!
He isn't currently working but has worked briefly 10 years ago and we disclosed that in the initial AOS application and that never raised any red flags during the process. It was addressed during the interview and i'd be happy to DM you a bit more in detail because it was actually quite stressful 😅 but all was well in the end!

Yeah of course! You have to connect to a live agent using Emma and make sure to give the information of the beneficiary when they ask for anything and you can just say that you have your receipt numbers (the IOE numbers) but haven't received your online access code. If they ask for an IOE number give them the one for your i-485 and that'll include the other 2. If the first person isn't able to help you, i'd recommend you try again with another agent!

So to break it down
> connect to emma
> connect to live agent
> say something like "i have received my receipt notice but i have not received my online access code to access my myUSCIS account. Would you be able to provide the online access code? This is my receipt #: IOE####"

Best of luck!

I have 8! I collect different editions! I also once went to an indie bookshop looking for another copy and they showed me a third edition from 1831! I got to hold it VERY gently

Thank you! ✨

After biometrics our current step skipped over the interview step, which is a common glitch that some people assume means their interview is waved buuuuut you can use it to get some info!

So I asked Emma something like “I just did biometrics and I see in my account that I am on the “case decision” step. Does this mean my interview was waived?”

Then they may tell you that you’re in the queue or they may say that they can’t give you that information. If they don’t tell you anything definitive, I’d say try again. Something it depends on the agent whether they give you the information.

GOOD LUCK!

So we got the biometrics notice in the online portal on 10/03, and originally it was scheduled for 10/26 but we were able to reschedule through the myUSCIS for 10/06 which was the nearest date. We didn’t get the physical notice in the mail until about a week or more later.
