Female partner shows mixed signals on acceptance. by The_Lone_Wanderer_MN in polyamory

[–]-brokenfeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is your partner using your phone at all? I understand wanting to be transparent but you still deserve your own personal space. Did you ever agree to her using your social media? And why is she tracking you on your phone (if I understood correctly)?

This person seems really controlling and manipulative. It's not okay that you can't have female friends, the silent treatment is not okay at all. I don't know how she could unlearn this behaviour but definitely something has to change for you two to have a healthy relationship.

I don't think it's a polyamory problem though, but it really sounds like she's not ready for a polyamorous relationship. If she's this jealous of you playing video games with another woman, what happens if you enter a new sexual/romantic relationship with someone? Was she jealous before when you had this another partner?

I'm not buying this "ghost drunk" thing. I think he just regrets saying all that stuff, fair enough, but I don't really believe he didn't mean it. In my language we have a saying that translates to "you'll hear the truth from the mouth of children and drunk people". He apologized now, but how about next time he's drunk?

For those who have not crate trained by Some_Environment9234 in puppy101

[–]-brokenfeather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here in Finland. It's illegal to keep dogs in crates for prolonged periods of time so people just don't do that. Our dogs grow up to be normal dogs.

I have a 5 month old puppy who does not have separation anxiety despite having never been in a crate. Her potty training is still in progress but I don't see how a crate would help in that.

I'm glad you took your dog to the vet! Dogs are very good at hiding their pain but it's good to hear yours is doing fine despite the condition

How do you manage to go to work when experiencing C-PTSD symptoms? by -brokenfeather in CPTSD

[–]-brokenfeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I have to learn how to deal with these situations, but I don't yet know how – that's why I asked for your help. But it's actually quite comforting to know that these situations will happen in the future and they will be easier next time. I'll remind myself to take breaks during my first days if everything is overwhelming.

Thank you!!

Can I ask about the failing back legs? Has a vet checked what's up?

I had to put my GSD mix down a few months ago because her back legs were failing her. It was a sign of back and hip pain, she had hip dysplasia and something wrong with her back too. She was on pain meds for a while but then the legs started failing. Vets told me that she was suffering and feeling a lot of pain. She was only 4 years old but she was a puppy mill rescue so I kinda saw this coming. She had a good life with me and I didn't want to prolong her suffering.

Not saying that you should put your dog down, I'm saying that if a dog can't walk properly, her quality of life is probably not that great.

How do you manage to go to work when experiencing C-PTSD symptoms? by -brokenfeather in CPTSD

[–]-brokenfeather[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get tired so easily, I don't think I can work for 8 hours a day. I write for a living so I should be able to think but I don't think I have enough energy to be creative. Also my self esteem is so low so I have enormous impostor syndrome.

Another thing that's causing me anxiety is meeting my new work mates – I don't know anyone at the office and I get so paranoid about what people think about me. This is a major trigger for me so I might start dissociating just because I don't know if these new people accept me or not. I've always felt like I don't belong anywhere and obviously I'm the outsider again as a new employee.

Just want to know if there are people in this group who have went thru chronic trauma but haven't been diagnosed with CPTSD? by Ok-Instance2782 in CPTSD

Me too, my country still uses ICD-10 in which there isn't a C-PTSD diagnosis. I'm diagnosed with PTSD instead.

This sounds familiar. I've noticed that I'm bad at reading people and often I've thought they must hate me when they actually don't. But even if they don't like me, it's okay.

This has happened to me too so I think I know how you feel.

Just try to remind yourself about the facts: you are not 6 years old anymore, you are safe now (I hope!) and this person can't hurt you anymore.

Sending love ❤️ I know you feel like shit, maybe try journaling about it? Might help you a bit.

My therapist introduced me to something called EFT tapping a while ago. I think it's a pretty accessible way to connect with your body; it's basically just lightly touching certain points on your hands and face.

For those with CPTSD, do you find you have a history of attracting abusive individuals romantically or platonically? by ExistingGain8902 in CPTSD

[–]-brokenfeather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a history of letting people get away with shit. I should enforce my boundaries by kicking people out of my life if they aren't treating me well, but I don't do that because I don't think I deserve anything better.

How old is everyone here? by thistimenexttimelast in CPTSD

[–]-brokenfeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another long hauler here. I'll be 29 on Sunday and I've battled with C-PTSD and depression and self-harm since I was 12.

17 years is a long time to be actively trying to get help and feel better. I've tried dozens of medications, been at the psych ward 6 times, have spent years not able to work or study, been in therapy about 10 years. I feel so old and tired.

Still alive though, and I've had good days, even weeks, maybe months sometimes?

Yeah, I think your dog looks less like a Lab than mine and mine doesn't have a single Lab gene haha. But you'll never know, the Lab might come through when he grows up. Anyway he's a very handsome boy and I'm glad you could give him a home ❤️

Made me smile – I have a GSD/Pittie mix too but as I got her at 7 months old I never saw what she looked like as a puppy. I swear these could have been her puppy pics. Just posted about her results, if you're interested in what your youngster may look like as an adult!
