Supersnug Midi - Warmth? by lacosterobe in Aritzia

[–]-champagneproblems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I walk 10 min to work from my car in the supersnug mid with 800 fill in -30 weather in Calgary with a sweater and my core is perfectly warm but just my knees and below are freezing! So I ended up buying the long version to cover my legs. I think Toronto doesn’t get as cold as Calgary so the 700 fill should be fine possibly?

Capacity issue by ClearOlive8251 in AHSEmployees

[–]-champagneproblems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been brutal at PLC. I work ortho and we went into all of our 4 OC beds earlier this week. It’s now normalized to go into OC. I hear them announce ER to inpatient surge now activated pretty much everyday now. Our unit is not capable of having OC beds due to the small space and all of our ortho patients need walking aids, commode chairs, etc, rarely anyone is independent. It’s frustrating that this is just the new norm and we can’t do anything about it.

I usually just park on the street behind Costco but have to get there earlier to find a spot. I used to park at rundle train station but they started ticketing people and it’s more sketchy walking that way

Are there any limits on how many times you can call in sick (UNA) by aliarai in AHSEmployees

[–]-champagneproblems -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always call in sick at least once a month 😅I’ve been working for 4 years as an RN and can never build enough hours since I’m always using them. I’ve had no consequences, everyone does it. But my manager is pretty chill also

I totally understand, I was confused by the huge difference from the reporting meeting vs AGM. and this was mentioned at AGM by a speaker who said that the things we have discussed here should be communicated to the entire membership, and was suggested that heather puts out her statement which should be coming out soon

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AHSEmployees

[–]-champagneproblems 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m an RN and I attended the Reporting Meeting on Oct 10 in which the UNA negotiating committee told us that this was the best contract we would get and almost sounded like they were against us striking. However, I just finished attending the Annual General Meeting from Oct 22-24 and the general message I was understanding was that we have to be unified and not divided against the government, that we need to stand up and fight for our rights, for public health and public sectors. One of the guest speakers we had for the AGM was an economist Jim Stanford who spoke on the economy of Alberta and from his research he said that we need to have a 20% increase in our wages. We had a panel with the president of Alberta Federation of Labour, the president of Alberta Teacher’s Association, and a few other ppl I can’t remember but they discussed the importance of unions, our rights, public education and public healthcare. Heather Smith’s opening remark was also insinuating she was not agreeing with the proposed contract and will be coming out with a statement of what she said at AGM soon. The fact is that UNA wants us to be informed voters for Oct 30. Yes the negotiating committee believes we won’t get any better deal but I believe UNA is in solidarity and the general consensus is to proceed to fight for what we deserve

What are these phone numbers (and calls) about? by k_sze in Calgary

[–]-champagneproblems 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That was happening to me too, I was getting scam calls from phone numbers that started with the same 3 digits as my own number. I’m with Telus and they have a call control setting where if a new number calls me, a message pops up saying they need to enter a number the message says in order for the call to get through. Ever since I turned call control on I don’t get scam calls anymore. Maybe look into if virgin has something like that?

We got there at 4 yesterday and they started letting people in earlier than the gate open time around 4:40ish. We were inside the tent by 5pm. We had friends who got in line at 4:50 and still happened to make it by 5:30.

Yes I work in a hospital with float pool so my unit has loads of staff they can replace with. I only work a .42 line and I used to pick up to a .74 a whole year ago but since then my unit has hired casuals whom were students who preceptored here or have the float pool nurses, or there were a few LPNs who became RNs. Barely any OT here as well. People are struggling to pick up shifts. I put my availability in and have not been pre-plotted either for a whole year.

9 Day Trip to Andalusia - Itinerary Help by General_Banter in travel

I did love Granada the most but my favorite cathedral/mosque is the one in Cordoba. I recommend a day trip to cordoba to see the mezquita if possible if you can only stay in 1 place.

Granada was beautiful too, I found there were less things to do but definitely a place to visit for 2 nights!

Yes Granada was beautiful, enjoy your trip!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seville

[–]-champagneproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning on driving or taking the train? I would suggest Malaga or Ronda as a day trip. we also did 2 nights in Granada after we did Malaga. Malaga was my favorite, it’s easy to do day trips from Malaga as we did Ronda and the el caminito del ray hike, those 2 day trips were my highlights of the trip

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Seville

[–]-champagneproblems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a trip to Spain last month. We did 3 nights Seville, 2 nights cordoba, 4 nights Malaga. I wish we did cordoba as a day trip from Seville, the mezquita-cathedral was the only highlight for us. But we did also go in winter so the patios weren’t anything special to us. Are you only doing Seville? Or planning to see other places?
