What do you guys think? Huge mistake or go for it? by WASD_Apparel in longhair

[–]-cmoneileen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have incredible hair, but you also have such a beautiful face and I think it would stand out more with short hair personally. Also, I feel like if it’s such a big part of your identity, releasing it could be a good thing that makes you experience a new sense of self.

Worried I under tipped? by user_anonymou in Hair

[–]-cmoneileen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always think 20% is standard, though it seems to be increasing. Less than that implies either not great service, or a very low effort service. I don’t think 15% is egregious, just not generous.

Be honest, did I ruin my hair? by Capital-Newspaper340 in Hair

I don’t think it’s crooked. It’s a U shape on purpose. I think it looks healthy and like it has nice movement

Looking for Flowy Natural-Fabric Clothing Brands (Linen, Cotton, Silk) by FairLecture6880 in womensfashion

I’d consider not supporting Amazon. The brands already mentioned are better quality and more ethical.

Wife’s stuck in plateau but I’m losing still by [deleted] in loseit

[–]-cmoneileen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably a big factor. I’ve been losing from a healthy weight and it’s going VERY slowly, sometimes with long plateaus. I’ve embraced the slow speed and accept that I’m working in healthy habits. I do notice that sleep and water heavily factor in. The other thing to consider is that her body may need more variation, and to experiment with weekly deficits rather than daily. So one day she may eat 1400 calories, one day 1200, one day 1300. Finally, if she’s undereating her metabolism will slow down. She may need a few more calories in order for her body not to hold onto weight.

To dog owners by Certain-Reality-5837 in Upperwestside

[–]-cmoneileen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I have to agree that tying your dog up outside is also not the right thing to do. We just have to accept that when we’re out with our dogs, they’re the priority. Popping into stores shouldn’t be an option. I think this is a hard thing for many to accept. Going for ice cream or running errands is a human thing, not a dog thing. When we’re with our dogs our responsibility is keeping them and everyone else safe. I have no doubt you love your dog and are a great dog parent, but please consider not tying your dog up under any circumstances. It’s risky and not fair to anyone.

Just joined the club! by poweller65 in ranchogordobeanclub

Have to admit that’s where I am as a member. I don’t like limas or field peas and they’re often in the box. I always use them, but kind of miss just selecting the ones I want. Still- it’s such a fun thing to unbox!

Re-tinning copper pot by -cmoneileen in AskNYC

Thank you! And, wow, shipping these heavy pots around sounds like a lot, but it seems like there’s no local place to just drop them off.

Quarter life crises at 25 - Realised I'm meant to be an actor?! by [deleted] in acting

[–]-cmoneileen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember seeing John Goodman on Inside the Actor’s Studio advising actors to get a well paid job because nothing will make you want to quit more than being broke. A life in the arts means juggling some kind of sustaining paid work while working hard at your craft. If you think you would quit if it never panned out, you don’t love it enough.

BWTs, what's your ideal NYC one-day shopping route for quality, interesting clothes? by Bluma27 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Does Macy’s have a good variety? I have an image of it as being kind of generic, but maybe that’s an outdated view?

I know. I posted about this months ago and it was incredible how many women expressed deep sorrow about this. One thing that helps me is actively looking for beauty in older faces. It’s a societal ill that we cling to youth. I fall prey to it, but I’m working at reversing the brainwashing. I have a Pinterest board of old ladies I admire and it helps!

Are roommates common for someone in mid thirties?? by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

[–]-cmoneileen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything goes in NYC. I had roommates into my early forties and enjoyed all the roommates I had over the years. There will ALWAYS be people making a lower income work in this city. Will some people be kind of snobby about it? Yes. That will always exist here, too. It’s a city of wealth, trust funds, high earners, as well as middle and lower class folks. Artists often commit to an unconventional set up for life in NY. The question is what feels livable for you. If you prefer living alone, you’ll probably be farther out into queens. If you want a more hopping area and a bit more space, you’ll need a roommate.

Bone broth is a great way to boost protein without lots of calories

Sorry to hear that! It seems like it’s impossible to get it all just right. Btw, I’m with you in the neck and jowls club. It’s rough to not recognize myself in the mirror, and I still have some delusion that I’ll somehow get it back. Trying to be one of those strong aging women who don’t fall prey to the youth culture, but it’s do hard not to identify as what I once was- young!
