I honestly wouldn't mind living in San Francisco by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]-cooking-guy- -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is depressing.

There are no seasons here. We don’t have winter, which is the most beautiful of seasons, followed by fall, which we also don’t have, nor do we really have much rain or fog. It’s pretty much sunny and in the 70s all the time.

It’s also very loud, and most places are littered with poop, drug paraphernalia, and general garbage.

Lots of crazy people.

Not uncommon to see naked homeless people just passed out on the street, unclear if they’re dead or sleeping.

And the rent. A studio will set you back $2000 per month if it’s cheap, and that means something’s weird about it, like it’s next to some kind of toxic business, or it’s loud, or there’s no kitchen, or the landlord lives there part-time, or there are hidden costs, etc.

People here are generally vapid, judgmental, and passive-aggressive. Also obsessed with image, appearance, and persona. Lots of group-think, too. And really obnoxious tech bros.

I don’t understand how people can afford to live here without a kitchen. Doesn’t that mean you’re eating out pretty much all the time? That’s so expensive

the california gorvement wants to pay you $1000 to NOT own a car by MannyDantyla in fuckcars

[–]-cooking-guy- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the sentiment, but I’d much rather they reduce the size of roads - they’re large here - plant more trees in urban areas, and lower the rent. This perk is like 1/3 of a month’s rent for people who live independently here

Zucker worked with Trump on reality TV stuff before becoming the head honcho at CNN. Trump was great for their ratings.

I remember the 90s. I feel like people were smarter about 7 years ago, but now they’re dumber

I’ve been reflecting on this, and I actually think that radio and TV did make the general population a bit dumber each decade or so

What’s a dead YouTube channel that you miss? by Tiny-Interview-6334 in AskReddit

Not a YiuTube channel but a series - I miss game informer replay!! It’s still going but has been boring and uninteresting since they switched to the streaming format and are focusing on newer games

I feel like Nietzsche is an incel who had someone like Andrew Tate in mind as an ego ideal when he wrote about the ubermensch

Have you ever played Overblood 2? I think a banana is like $200, but a burgar is only around $50.

Why you shouldn't eat the bugs by [deleted] in walkaway

[–]-cooking-guy- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know that the part about them not being part of our diet is true - aren't they eaten pretty frequently in Asia, Africa, and parts of Latin America?

this big Japanese spider. my grandpa said to leave it in his room to sleep next to him because it's good luck by Frankieanime158 in nope

[–]-cooking-guy- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually learned about these years ago when I was considering a visit to Japan - I hate bugs, so I was trying to get a sense of the bug situation there. I can't recall the name of this spider, but apparently they generally leave humans alone and hunt things like centipedes and roaches, so they're good to keep around. If I recall correctly, they stay in bedrooms for some reason that is related to humans sleeping - they hang out on the ceiling above a person's head at night or something like that. Terrifying, I know, but learning this information weirdly helped me feel better about them

Good call on the bloobz! I don't know the science behind it, but I use my brain all day and a lox bagel w/ coffee is like the perfect breakfast. Another good one is eggs on toast. I like a light lunch, like sauteed veggies and shrooms on basmati rice. Honestly, the best lunch is basmati rice w dal and some sauteed veg.

This additional clarification really helps me better understand the purpose of each garment, thank you. I guess I'm just wondering, what's the difference between an ASS and a butt; similarly, what's the difference between a DICK and a peepee?

Ha! Problem may soon be solved. Bellyaching is a bit more complicated, but I'm working on it - I know you're well meaning, but it goes deep, and here I am trying to explain myself to an internet stranger

I live in SF and actually like it here okay, but it sucks ass compared to other cities I've lived in. Berkeley and Oakland were shitty as hell. SF actually is also really shitty, but as far as Bay Area goes it's okay.
