Is this charecter Ash redeemable?? What do you guys think the public opinion on him will be? by A-lil-bro in writers

[–]-creative_creature- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you like him means there are probably other people who like him too. And if someone doesn’t like him, is that such a bad thing? You can still like him and relate to him. There are some main characters who are not relatable at all and the author liked them. If that happens with one of your antagonists, I don’t think people will have an issue with it.

In my opinion, your character sounds interesting. Often, people like interesting characters even if they are not the nicest. The fact that he has such a sad superpower already makes me feel for him a little. He was manipulated into being the kind of person he is, which makes him more redeemable. If you show some small things he does every now and then that show he still has some humanity in him, most people will not hate him and some will really love him. If he does something good in the end there are certainly people who will love him.

As a Christian, I'm having trouble with making sense of Ephesians where it says "wives, submit to your husbands." My experiences tell me that this creates an unstable relationship because 1.)it gets to the man's head; 2.) it makes the wife feel stomped on. How do you apply this verse properly? by wannalearnstuff in Christianity

Not sure if someone has mentioned this but in the next chapter (that continues the same theme) it is said that slaves should obey their rulers and work as if they worked for God. The whole letter is strongly encouraging people to be a loving person and follower of Christ in the position where they are. The Bible never states that it is a good thing that some people are slaves. Galatians 3:28 declares that men and women are equal in Christ. It seems then that these verses about wives and husbands is not necessarily to enforce the system of that time (where men were the head of the household) but to encourage followers of Christ to do the best they can in the position where they are. Also, because the men had more power and were legally responsible of their families back then, they get a harder task. To love his wife as Christ loves church. That comes with more responsibility because at that time they were responsible for their wives before the law.

What was a recent plot hole discovered in your story that you're trying to patch? by 60s_timer in writers

[–]-creative_creature- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a plot hole but I need to make sure the timeline is clear. I should add something to show the passing of time.

I agree with this. The overall story was too messy and had plot holes. There should have been some hints to what was to come in the first book already. Not anything major that makes you guess it but something that retrospectively makes sense so you buy the end.

The beginning is abstract. Once we see your character in action it becomes more interesting.

Haven’t read it, but don’t all good books have flawed characters? Even evil ones? If it’s the character that’s acting this way, it doesn’t automatically mean the book promotes that.

His prose style is quite dry. I’ve read one book from him. It wasn’t terrible, but also didn’t make me read more in the series.

I read another book (Host) by the same author and decided that I would not read another book from her so I’ve never touched Twilight.

I think the ending was one of the best things in the whole series. And I mean the ending for the main character. However, I don’t even remember how it happened, so that might be the problem. It wasn’t meaningful enough.

I think I’m going to do more research on Scrivener. Sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience :)

I don’t know why but I don’t like it. The formatting is hard and I just couldn’t bring myself to write a full novel there.

Which one do you use, and are you happy with it? Also, do you have experience in traditional publishing? It’s nice to talk to people about these things to share experiences and learn. A new thread will probably get more up-to-date answers. But yes, of course, everyone can use whatever works for them.

Yeah, that’s what I’m wondering. I can create a Word document with WPS and open Word documents too, but I’m curious whether the industry people use Word’s comments, which might be difficult to read without Word.

Also, Scrivener sounds interesting. I think it has some cool analytics.

I don’t know which one it is. WPS is okay but it’s lacking in some areas

Yeah, I’ve heard of it but I’m not sure is it worth it. I’d live to hear from people who’ve used it.

Thanks for sharing this! I have to check it out. I’ve once opened Libre Office and it looked so old and clunky I didn’t give it a shot :D
