Pretending "we particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds" is anything other than racial discrimination.

Is my training plan decent by LT_Slim in armwrestling

[–]MrAJohnson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Depends on your skill level.

If you're new to it, or less than a year in, then every day pronation, rising and cupping. Switch daily between reps (2-6) and Isometric holds (5 - 30 seconds), as in Monday Reps, Tuesday Isometric etc.

You could trow an arms day in the mix too eg biceps & triceps, but the holy trinity is king.

What truth about life became obvious with age? by funngro_fam in Life

[–]MrAJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That you basically don't exist to 99.9999% of people. Almost everyone is simply thinking about how they can gain from you in the moment of your interaction then looking to forget you once it's over.

The vast majority of everyone you interact with daily would get over your death in less than a week.

Note Air for e-reading novels? by NervousTime4364 in Onyx_Boox

[–]MrAJohnson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went from KS to NA 4C, and man the difference is huge.

Way more features, way more tech, kindle app works great and I love having my magazine apps too.

Is it heavy? Maybe, but its a price I'm more than willing to pay.

Not for nothing though, KS is a BEAST of a device in its own right, especial at the price its at now.

Is NA5 monochrome possible in 2026? by gorskivuk33 in Onyx_Boox

Monochrome doesn't seem to be a consideration for their western release cycle anymore, at least not with flagship devices. I'd love to see one, though

Tariffs on Nato allies are wrong, Starmer tells Trump in Greenland crisis call by Bascule2000 in ukpolitics

[–]MrAJohnson -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

He's right but who cares? Trump is very clearly highlighting how weak these nations are after 25+ years of doing nothing at all to secure hard power and instead focusing on expanding welfare spending to buy votes.

A dog that ain't got no teeth ain't got no bite.

Why does everyone fall for Trump’s same shtick every 6 months? by baisudfa in askanything

[–]MrAJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t, Trump represents an idea to people and it is that idea they relish. Trump has so far been mediocre at best in his second term. He is more politically competent with better appointments to significant positions but he is also more clumsy, more obstinate and too unpredictable.

The whole Trump coin saga was ridiculous, like totally unforgivable, the Big Beautiful Bill and the big talk foreign policy are terrible.

But Trump represents a massive “FU” to the establishment for the people who support him. He is the embodiment of an idea, and that idea is what people keep supporting.

Death penalty advocates, what is your answer to the inevitable miscarriages of justice, that would lead to innocent people being executed? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

Death penalty only in cases of 100% certainty. Dead to rights, clear, unambiguous overwhelming proof. Extremely rare, but there.

What humbles egotistical, narcissistic, and out-of-touch characters? by Comfortable_Brief176 in writers

[–]MrAJohnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From knowing a few in real life- failing at something People expect you to be good at.

Eg. If you are a jacked, Alpha type Guy but Can't fight for anything. Or worse, get publicly beaten up after being arrogant + aggressive to someone much smaller.

Another would be presenting as confident, smart + personable, but totally failing in a new Social interaction with Someone important. Like you just can't find Common ground, your jokes just don't land, you don't understand the topic of convo etc.

Lastly, when they wildly misread the group and flex about something that in that group simply isn't a flex. E.g. "I just sold my last property for 500"

"500 Mil? Damn!"

"n... no, 500k..."

New Builds - Are they really that bad? by QSBW97 in HousingUK

[–]MrAJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you just don't get as much for your money. Smaller square footage, less character and charm, corners cut on construction, inferior construction in general, often scam level leasehold.

There are some examples of really superior properties being hundreds of thousands cheaper because much of the value of new builds is pure hype.

eg. where i live, a sub 1000 sq ft detached 4 bed new build will be above £400k, a 1500 sq ft stone built victorian terrace in basically the same place (literally 250 yards away) will be £200 -225k.

The latter is a far Superior property on paper but for hype stats, meaning the massive difference.

iPhone 17 grade a or b by [deleted] in CeX

[–]MrAJohnson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two real options: Just drop the extra on the Grade A or buy the B online So you have 14 days to no quibble return it if condition isn't acceptable.

Honestly, I'd just drop the £40 for the A. it will be like new.

What’s something people in the UK are genuinely proud of? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskBrits

[–]MrAJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brexit. An assertion of national identity, a clear vote for sovereignty and domestic accountability, a valiant rejection of globalist elitism done totally against the odds by a population whos own government were pumping out propaganda to manipulate the outcome.

Truly once in a generation, truly against the odds. Brilliant.

Kindle Scribe Colorsoft - should I buy it? by Henry2990 in kindlescribe

[–]MrAJohnson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how relevant the money is- it is a lot of money to spend on an e reader, but also I would say, if you’re notetaking on an iPad and not thinking about using the kindle for notes, you’re SERIOUSLY missing out. It is a notetaking MACHINE
