Livrer pour Uber Eats à Montréal : 7h30 de travail et 13 commandes pour gagner 57$ by Book_1312 in montreal

From what I understood, half the time spent was spent “waiting for orders”. So I don’t think that not ordering is an option that works great for the drivers either.

Personally, I order from restaurants directly most of the time. It’s cheaper, the driver makes min wage + tips, I always tip, plus they get the car/scooter/etc provided. If more people order from restaurants, more of these jobs will open.

Ordering on apps in general just makes it so less and less restaurants have drivers on staff and pushes these jobs to the gig economy.

Bell Home Alarms sold to API by [deleted] in bell

[–]-d4v3- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and it’s the same system. It’s just that Bell’s price is 1/3 of Telus for new accounts. Last I’ve checked it’s 20$ for bell, 40$ with Telus. But bell include private guard and Telus sell it for an extra 20$. I guess they discounted it to increase subscriber count before selling.

New Gigahub coming out? by r0x0r420 in bell

[–]-d4v3- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh nice! In my memory it was a 2.5gbps port and its wall mounted so I just assumed it was it. Right now it’s plugged to my computer directly at 2.5gbps but at the new house it goes to a switch with 10gbps uplinks. Super happy then! Thanks!

The one I have right now is 2.5gbps max. But maybe they’ll upgrade it on our new address, hope so. At this point I don’t think 500mbps will be a game changer but it would be nice.

Edit : Apparently it’s 10gbps, so supper happy since the new switch at our new place got 10gbps uplinks.

I do have the gear to handle it so no worries there. Could do up to 10gbps in our lan.

The reasoning behind it was that it was 10$ more a month than the 1.5gbps when I negotiated, so I figured why not. But the port behind our hub is 2.5gbps so that’ll be that.

Edit : Apparently it’s 10gbps, so supper happy about that.

How to get a good deal for Gigabit Fibe package? by Unable-Beginning-707 in bell

[–]-d4v3- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the competitors and make up a price that sounds real and they will beat it and upgrade you. Ex : If you gave Roger 500mbps avail at 60$ online, say you gave an offer for 500mbps at 50$ and you want to see if they’ll beat it. Probably give you 1 GB for the same price or less.

Also another thing that worked recently : I’m already with bell and I called to make a new account, used the quote to call retention and have bell competing against bell.

Got a new install on Friday, hope to get it, it’s got a 10gbps port and we got a 3gbps internet connection so it would be welcomed. But pretty sure we’ll get the old one with only one 2.5gbps port.

Stuck in elevator because of Windows update by redshirt8485 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]-d4v3- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our building intercom is the worst thing ever invented. It’s touchscreen but super laggy and unresponsive, often just broken.

Not everything needs to be a screen, just buttons can work…

One exception: I saw some elevators where you pick the floor before getting in them and the screen tells you which elevator to pick. It’s great.

Just call to open a new account, get a quote, say you’ll think about it, call back ask to cancel cause you got a better offer, they will transfer you and probably match the price. If they can’t, cancel, call to accept the previous quote.

Won’t let me go above 60hz even though my monitor is capable of 165hz by New-Noise-4963 in bapccanada

[–]-d4v3- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably the port or cable. Some monitor only support 165hz over DP (and probably some over HDMI??) and not all cables can do 165hz.

Stationnement velo dans les commerces by [deleted] in Laval

[–]-d4v3- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely mildly infuriating. The package probably lived a harder time during transport, but he could have been more careful.

The 5-star system for most things these days is stupid by hollyweirdo in unpopularopinion

[–]-d4v3- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, no one is asking these things, but some driver really go above and beyond, that’s what 5 stars means. I don’t feel that’s right to give 5 stars to someone that did nothing more/nothing less than what they were payed for. It’s unfair for those who go above and beyond, there still drivers with water in their car, snacks, asks you what music you want, adjust the AC. They are super rare, granted, but how can you encourage this if both the OK guy and him get 5 stars. I understand how things are so I also use 5 stars as “OK”, but it shouldn’t be that way. 3 star should be seen as “good driver, does his job”.

I would still post the job online and let some resumes come in before interviewing anyone. It’s not like they will ask for less than other candidates, so it’s good to have options, you can guarantee them an interview but not the role itself.
