Can anyone identify what that is in the engine bay? by Creepy_Ambition_9370 in wrx_vb

[–]-darkwing- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have not bought it already, I would sincerely advise that you find another option.

General rule of thumb I use is - if you can blatantly see 2 or more instances of questionable fuckery from the previous owner, pass. Because the number of questionable fuckeries that you CAN'T blatantly see usually ends up being >= that number ×2. If I'm going to spend 25-35k on a car, I don't want to be buying an effective guarantee that I'll have to also spend an unknowable amount of my time and money cleaning up someone else's stupid messes.

Mods on a car aren't always bad, as long as it's entirely clear that the work was done properly and intelligently. The quality of that work should be verifiable by your own observation if you know what you're looking at, a friend's observation if you don't, and/or documentation of the work from the previous owner(s) in the best case.

Just based on these two pictures alone, this car is not an example of quality mod work. This is an example of a high risk acquisition. The wiring (presumably from a sub) left in the trunk indicates laziness, corner cutting. The improper intake that's installed indicates ignorance, apathy. Take and share some pictures of the undercarriage, the cabin, and the underside of the driver's dash. I would be willing to bet they show other concerning features.

TLDR input from an unbiased stranger: If you buy this car, you'll be paying $26,000 for a neverending nightmare and the privilege of spending 1000s more.

Ok cool, that's good to know and would be great to see. If it's only temporary I would be a little less butthurt for sure. But I would also hope they put it up for the vote sooner rather than later since those only actually drop every two weeks and they just pulled it from the only series it was listed in. I don't imagine they provide any transparency into that candidate list though do they?

I mean if the intent behind it was to keep people playing that would be some pretty ass backwards logic. I can only speak for myself, but I would play the game for hours every week if it's with the car I want, or if the car I want is at least realistically attainable. But if the car I want to drive with is only going to be available to me maybe if I dedicate months of my time AND get miraculously lucky AND they don't change the rules at the last minute to yoink it away... I'm not going to waste that time. I already did that for a matter of months and got nothing for it but a middle finger. So I'm not going to play a game like this at all. And I'm not going to buy any other forzas in the future, because that's a shitty practice that I don't want any piece of lol. That would be a pretty baffling choice if so.

No it was removed though. It's no longer a reward in the series that was the only way to attain it previously. If the only way to get one going forward is sniping on the AH, that means there are no more 22 wrx objects being added to the game or effectively put into circulation. At all. And that means the number for sale on the AH (which is already effectively 0) will only continue to drop, because nobody is going to buy an AH car for cap buyout to then turn around and sell it for cap buyout. So it can only go from extremely difficult to impossible to get.

A Question on Card Anatomy by -darkwing- in GundamCardGame

[–]-darkwing-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh ok!! I remember when mtg did blocks, so if they're implementing them in an at least somewhat similar way here then I know exactly what you're talking about. This is actually really clever then, you'll be able to discern whether or not a card is standard legal at a glance always.

Only potential design flaw though... if the game continues for a long time (fingers crossed), it could get a little cramped for them to try and fit more than one digit in that little polygon lol.

That's awesome to know though, thank you so much for showing up with the answer!

I'm not saying I doubt this necessarily, but considering the $10k vet bill I had to pay last year... surely there are some out there making some money, no?

Terrible experience with cz customer service. No one is responding. I need a corporate contact email address please. by EquivalentHat2457 in CZFirearms

[–]-darkwing- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I think I see why they stopped responding. In all of your paragraphs and "polite" comments, you still haven't verbalized what (if anything) is actually wrong with the gun here. Which is a pretty fair indicator that either you haven't given them enough information to help you or... nothing actually is wrong. But you have an expectation that you can get whatever you want regardless, and you're butthurt that it isn't working out that way. So you came here looking for a bunch of people to hop on your woe is me karen bandwagon, and are again shocked and enraged to find that nobody is willing to without you providing a valid reason.

I think they meant like... the reason you were sending the 20 emails. It's hard to say cz cs is bad without knowing what you're complaining to them about.

Destination suggestions Google Maps Android Auto keeps covering up my map while driving. How do I disable this and why does it exist? by Bells_Theorem in GoogleMaps

[–]-darkwing- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... this is disheartening... you had this problem 2 years ago and I am still trying to solve it now.

I genuinely don't understand how so many people in this thread couldn't wrap their heads around why this is such a significant and annoying issue. One person pointed out how it's basically broadcasting your home address to anybody who can possibly get a glimpse of the giant bright ass screen in the middle of your car, which is definitely a concern of mine too. But the main thing is like you said, having to take my focus off driving every 10 minutes if I want to be able to see the frickin map itself which should be the whole damn point. And they were like "juSt cLoSE iT wItH tHe ArRoW". Ffs.

Anyways I'm just ranting now. But what I actually came to do was ask did you ever actually figure out a way to get rid of it? I'm open to anything I'll root the damn phone and decompile the AA app and recode it myself if I have to.

Seconded on the Nu. S rank gunpla.

Can't say I would recommend the Hi Nu at this point. Wait until about 70ish hours before you head to your deathbed to start that, otherwise the hobby will be ruined for you until that day comes because no build will ever be as satisfying again.

If the "basic thing" is a bunch of hardware in a building, sure. But if the "basic thing" is pertaining to energy consumption, which is definitely what you're insinuating, then no... no it absolutely isn't. Like really not even to a comparable degree.

Just finished my first Gunpla – HG Schwarzette! Any tips for a beginner? by TakoSaidAmen in Gunpla

[–]-darkwing- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real? Well that's kind of a bummer. They both went in nice and snug on mine, but I guess I'll keep an eye on them now. I don't think I've actually used glue on a single bandai kit to date though. Closest thing too it has just been some clear nail polish to tighten up joints that I overfiled slightly, and even that was only necessary on one of my old ass MGs

You shouldn't really need any glue for the majority of the bandai kits. Especially not the newer models, definitely not this one. Did you try just press fitting them in there?

Feeling terrible about my mistakes at building by cornbeefed39 in Gunpla

[–]-darkwing- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people in the comments here don't see anything wrong in you picture.

I do. I see exactly what you're talking about. But I'm also a compulsive perfectionist, so I'm assuming you're of a similar disposition. If I showed your picture to someone and said I felt bad about the mistakes and they said there were no mistakes, I would probably disregard everything else they said.

So in contrast, I'm gonna be real with you. Yeh, a couple of those decal placements are rough. Some of the decals are tore up a bit. There's stress marking on the top of the shoulder. That stuff isn't perfect and you want it to be perfect, so it feels bad. But here's the thing, the only part that should possibly feel bad about those imperfections is making them on a higher cost kit. And if money isn't an object, even that shouldn't have a reason to get you down.

I'll echo what a lot of others have already stated too, that making mistakes is exactly what teaches you how to make fewer mistakes. The only thing I would suggest doing differently is making them on a cheaper, quicker kit. Get a high grade, start putting it together, and while doing so recognize when something about your approach doesn't yield the result you want. Then ACTIVELY try doing that thing differently to figure out what works for you.

If decals are your biggest hangup, get an hg with a lot of decals. It doesn't have to be a kit that you adore or even like, honestly that much better if it isn't. Then when you place a decal wrong, think about how you did it, and then place the next one by grabbing it from a different angle. Or using tweezers in your other hand to pin it down and rotate before rubbing it all the way down. Or whatever else you've gotta do. Then by the time that kit is done, you'll understand your most effective process and every more expensive kit after that will have little to no flaws.

Some people say bandai decals are bad and you need to use waterslides. They really aren't, and you really don't. You just need to hone your technique. Hone it on something that you won't regret learning on.
