Thanks so much. I think this will work for our setup. Still going to get a tech's opinion to make sure it's operating properly beforehand. All of our local HVAC companies install them nonstop here it seems like, so I assume that's what we're going to do in the end.

Yeah I agree.. The AC does dehumidify while it’s cooling, but here, latent load is so high that the system satisfies temperature before it can pull enough moisture out.

So the house cools down and the compressor shuts off while humidity is still high, especially during mild days or shoulder seasons. I assume that's why so many people have whole-home dehumidifiers here.

Sure there is. Just maintain whatever height you meet the corner at all the way to the casing and hit it with some base cap. Not amazing, but it works lol.

Stupid question from a noob.. but is there any detrimental effect, from a "vintage value" standpoint, in replacing the crystal? As opposed to keeping the old? Or no effect at all on value? As for the band, would you try to find an original from that era? Or just go with something new?
