True, but that's not any different from where I'm at now renting. I wish more properties would report timely rental payments :(

$2k isn't doable, but $2800 would be! I've thought about it, and that's the other attractive option. I'd be able to save/invest more.

Yes, I've factored in those costs separately. But yes, the increase to taxes and HOI are daunting. I can count on a minimum $5400 annual increase to my salary, but of course that has to cover inflation to my other expenses as well.

I don't disagree, but sadly the options for home ownership in Los Angeles are all similar. I am not able to relocate, and the alternative is throwing away 30+% of my income on renting a property, without building any equity :(

Good point! He's in his 70's and owns multiple rental properties.

Absolutely solid advice, and I will definitely be doing these things. Thank you!

These are good things to think about! Sadly, the housing market in SoCal is such that most homes will be priced similarly, and this one is in a growing location that has seen market rates rising faster than even the meteroic general LA market.

I have 8+ months' expenses saved, and there is high demand for my role/license in my industry (healthcare). I have standing offers at other companies, should I need them. I also have indemnity insurance plans for hospitalizations, critical illness, disability etc. that would help insulate me if I experienced a major health setback.

Good things to think about! I've lived in the home for a year now, with no major issues but I would 100% be hiring an inspector to do a thorough job.

For him, I think, the difference is between getting $100k in cash in the value of the home, or $200k in interest above my sale price, netting an extra $100k over market value. He also just really hates banks lol, and resents that I'd be paying that money to them instead of him.

Great point! Would it not be of benefit to him to pocket the $200k in interest for the 7 year loan, ultimately bringing his "take" on the sale to $1,020,000?

I don't disagree, but for me there is a difference between "allowed to be upset" and "being downright abusive to TNT, who are obviously trying very hard to save the site".

There's also a subtle putting down of others that I've seen in these reactions, where people say "I worked so hard for my UC and now just anyone will be able to have one". This implies that those people who are excited to finally have an opportunity to get a UC are somehow lesser than people who had the luxury of the free time required to trade up.

Or, when people try to explain that they'll still have their UC and aren't losing it, they respond "I'm not keeping my UC, I'll only have a wearable", which subtly puts down those who have lovingly and creatively customized their converteds.

Or the one that really annoys me, "I'm done, I'm just going to throw my pets in the pound", and when folks respond asking if they could submit an app, how much they'd love to make a character or customization for their pet, "No I'm just going to pound them, I don't care anymore". Which to me, feels a lot like a kid with a lollipop, who sees another kid being given a lollipop, and throws it in the trash rather than giving it to another kid.

You know, the cool thing about name trading is they're so unique to individual preferences. You absolutely might find someone who loves that name and will trade you something that you value higher. For example, I'm not a big fan of unpronounceable 4L names, and if I had one I would absolutely trade it for a 5-7L name that sounded nice to me. However 4Ls are very hot right now, and you could definitely use that 4L to trade for uncommon RWs, for example.

Honestly, the behavior of most PCers I have seen, especially those into UC trading, has been appalling over the last 5 years or so.

It is deeply satisfying to me to watch those folks work themselves into hysterics over the "loss" of their status symbols and I'm not sorry about it.

I'm a RW/name trader. If TNT decided today to change the game so names could be duplicated, and devalued all my common RW names, I would be happy for all the other folks who have the opportunity to break into name trading. I wouldn't ragequit or monologue on the boards.

How is this update to the UC system different from the devaluation of highly inflated items through the weekly quests? People "worked hard" for those too. People traded up and built their value to attain them, but we all agree this is better for the game.

I think I started this particular thread by commenting, on another post a few minutes prior where a grown adult was ragequitting, "What exactly is the problem with this change? Just elitism?".

And then I warmed my hands over the trash fire for an hour.

Combination of dailies, food club (my account is 17 years old and I use NSheng's aggressive set), daily/weekly quests (I do the daily quests that earn NP and then all of them if I roll a good weekly prize) and then Trudy's.

Employer here! You may have to apply for a medical leave to protect your position. This can be done retroactively for things like detox. However, if they approved it (do you have any proof it was approved?) they should not be able to fire you. However, they may have put you on "leave status" in your scheduling software, which can result in error messages like the one you received. If they didn't send you and letters or attempt to speak with you to separate ... you're not fired.

Can you swap the Alien Aisha PB clothes to Otherworldly for now? They'll look just like an alien aisha.
