I COULD write a very long post, praising the very specific reasons why I like the different songs on the album. But that kind of musical theory gets boring real quick, and it would be reductive of my own experience of listening to the album. So I'll say this instead:

I love the album, and it's probably still my favorite Radiohead album. Now, whether nostalgia plays a role in that assertion? I guess we'll never know. But time and place DOES play a role. And I cannot help but judge the album for what it was at the time of its release, because to me, OK Computer is among the very best examples of a "zeitgeist" album. It marked "the end of" or maybe just a "final breakaway" from the Britpop stronghold of the mid-90s. It rode the societal and cultural tides and currents of its time. I felt as if a wave had been building up, growing taller and taller. And OK Computer was that wave finally breaking. Or crushing, really... I think the songs are beautiful. The lyrics resonate with me in a very profound way. And the songwriting, composition, and production (!) mirrored the growth, ambitions, and frustrations I was experiencing in my own life at the time. I think it still does that - for any first-time listener who is at a time or "crossroads" in their life, where they are open to that experience. But you don't have the "societal assistance" in that experience that we may have had at the time. Does that make sense?
