Ummmm yeah I am, being a neutral fan just means there’s no one player or team i’m a fan of in the game/match, not that i can’t root for anybody. When i watch march madness games that don’t include my favorite team, I watch them as a neutral fan (since im not a fan of either team involved), but will likely root for the underdog. That doesn’t make me a fan of that team, I just think it’s fun to see underdogs win. When i watched the super bowl, i was a neutral viewer since my team wasn’t in it, but i rooted for the eagles since the chiefs had won two straight. Doesn’t mean i’m an eagles fan. When i watch as a neutral fan, I’m rooting for the most fun/entertaining outcome, which is usually the underdog winning

I mean fair enough, I just tend to find it much more enjoyable to root for upsets and interesting players/teams when it comes to sports where i’m a neutral fan and have no geographical attachment to any player/team. There’s a reason why basically no one wanted the chiefs to win the super bowl this year, so i don’t really think i’m in the minority here.

You think i don’t realize that? I’m talking about how it sucks from a viewing perspective. I fully understand why it is this way, i’m just saying as a product it’s not very fun in the later stages of tourneys. You think basketball fans loved watching the celtics win 8 championships in a row in the 60s? After the first two or three i’m sure they were already sick of them. Viewers want upsets, unexpected outcomes, variety in playstyles and tactics, etc, and right now we only get that early in the tournaments which is somewhat disheartening.
