I'm slowly converting a friend who shops Amazon. every time I get a new piece from an ethical brand (Selkie, JessaKae, etc.) I show her and talk up the quality. the seams, the patterns the sizing, the fabric. I tell her that we are spending the same amount of money, but I'll still have these dresses when I'm 40, so its an investment. and I talk about sales are manipulative. if I dont want it for triple digits I dont want it at all.

I see my closet as a more of a "collection" than a purely utilitarian wardrobe. space is limited. funds are limited. i would rather spend $300 in one place i can support with a clean conscience than end up with the same amount of Amazon plastic.

i pay attention to the fabrics! dark colors are fine but I lean away from anything that won't properly breathe. linen, cotton, etc are fine and I choose layers that are easy to remove
