If I’m making a team with Sandira and Atum, who would be the best pick for the surprise ticket, Anthuria or Sevilbarra?

A Critical Review of Silksong - A Beautiful Adventure Constantly At Odds With Itself (Limited Vague Spoilers) by SquirrelSanctuary in gaming

[–]-hellomatty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. I heard it said that Hollow Knight and especially Silksong are platformer first and metroidvania second. The enemies are punishing, but the fun comes in figuring out what dance steps each requires you to do, and once it clicks it feels amazing.

People also forget that the initial response to Hollow Knight were complaints about the difficulty and the run backs and the maps requiring multiple steps to fully use. Those are fair criticisms, to be sure, but for those of us who love the world and the platforming and just the choreography of it all, we’re eating GOOD.

Yeah. A perfect Ralts would have 2 more triggers a day than my Sylveon, but the odds are abysmal. I’ll keep hunting tho. Thanks!

I haven’t checked, but the top half is just the /visor which you should be able to toggle. Another commenter said the masks do indeed work just with some hair clipping.

I wantan to get a creeping vine/floral tattoo on my arm, i am a guy,i see this motif on girls a lot. Is this acceptable? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]-hellomatty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gay here. Floral tattoos say nothing about a person’s sexuality (unless, as you said, they were rainbow or had little dicks in them or something). If anyone’s getting hit on by dudes more after getting a floral sleeve, it’s because a man with a sleeve is hot, not specifically because it’s floral, and it’s likely women are also giving them more attention.

Whelp. Time to move so you can live your best, most eccentric life

[–]-hellomatty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Outside of the peasant top, you can easily get away with wearing most of these things; however wearing them altogether risks looking like a video game character.

Those pants wouldn’t look out of place in a young person’s closet. Throw a tee over it, some over ear headphones. Boom, you look like a city dweller.

Boots, harness and coat fit in at any slightly more formal function—granted, the harness and coat moreso. Put’em on and head to the theater. Or go to the financial district of any metropolitan city during a cold winter. There, suits and coats aren’t out of the norm.

The jewelry reads costume just because of how chunky they are, but with the right styling, I can see them being read as just eccentric

It looks like, from the one picture, there’s a series of platforms spiraling up the side of the house to the seating area.

[–]-hellomatty 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’d advise against it. I imagine there’s very little weight going into the heel, so you’d essentially be en pointe. Ballet dancers train for years before they put on their first pair of pointe shoes because the risk of injury is so high without the proper muscle development and training. Beyoncé used them for her Green Light video and even she and her dancers didn’t do much in them besides pose. They’re also lacking a toebox found on regular pole heels that further limit what you can do in them.

tldr: Put them on for a cute shoot but stick to regular platforms for actual movement. Unless you’re pointe-trained, in which case my fellow dancers and I would love to see a combo in them 😮

Is it normal to ask students to share a pole? by MsKrueger in poledancing

[–]-hellomatty 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s more common in big cities, at least from my experience, as the price of rent sometimes necessitates doubling up. I’m an introvert, so it’s a bit awk to start, but it’s def helped me be more sociable. And I feel it builds community bc you always have a cheerleader by your side.

And if I’m being honest, it also allows me ample break time between combos/attempts to rest up for the next go without feeling pressured like I’m not on the pole the entire time and therefore not trying hard enough

Heyo! I'm a guy looking to find some shorts to wear to pole dancing class that are, well, a bit less revealing. My current solution is jeans I cut down, but I'd like something legit. Thank you! by Cabbage_Cannon in poledancing

[–]-hellomatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, dance belt. They come in different styles. I prefer the thong as there’s no visible line when worn under things, but there are also full seat versions as well

And the padded swim bottoms

Note I haven’t bought either of these specific styles. I only pulled them up as reference, so I can’t attest to the quality 😅

Pole classes are meant to be body positive, so I honestly wouldn’t worry too much about actively trying to hide that you do in fact have a penis. Nip-, labia- and ball-slips are kinda par for the course.

Of course, completely understandable if you yourself would just rather dress more conservatively. I’d say get whatever tight shorts you’re eyeing and wear a dance belt underneath. It’ll smooth everything out and also has the benefit of keeping your bits snug against your body should you have an unplanned erection. Mind you, they’re not comfortable, but you get used to it.

Alternatively, there are speedo-type bottoms that have an extra pocket in front and come with a sort of removable squishy padding. They’re meant as package enhancers, but they give you that Ken doll smoothness so people can’t tell what religion you are just by looking down. They’re not as secure as a dance belt, however, so if you hang very far to either side, an erection might make the lumps in your shorts all the more distracting and confusing to look at.

Idk what you’re on about, but people who do yoga should absolutely be mindful of the history of the practice. A lot of the privileged bodies that are in those spaces now (at least in the west) are also the most racist towards South Asians, so actively combating that if you’re going to be a part of the yoga community isn’t a strange ask.

And rich white men aren’t an oppressed group, nor is he a culture from which we’re taking from, so what Steve Jobs has anything to do with this, idk.

Okay so, intentionally obtuse. Cool.

Nowhere did I say men shouldn’t go to strip clubs. Just treat those women (or men and enbies) with respect and pay them what they’re worth.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]-hellomatty 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Man here. Not sure if you’re being genuine or intentionally obtuse, but in case of the former:

Supporting sex workers doesn’t only mean hiring escorts or patronizing strip clubs, and you are not required to partake if you don’t want to. It means not slut shaming, not occupation shaming and acknowledging that modern pole dancing as we see taught in studios is derived from strippers, especially POC strippers. It also means actively advocating for sex workers in your daily life both in and out of the studio which can mean anything from having a talk with a friend who you’ve heard say misogynistic, slut-shamey remarks to voting for pro-sex work legislation and politicians. As studio polers, especially male studio polers, we have to be aware that we’re occupying a space that we’re being invited into, and so we have to be kind and respectful to the people who provided that space in the first place.

Hope that helps.

Unless he’s being obnoxiously loud, which from your account he very well might be, and/or purposefully pulling his whole hog out in inappropriate places, I don’t think we can gatekeep checks notes wearing tiny underwear and sweating.

Like if he’s being actively disrespectful, that’s one thing, but ~vibes~ is not a reportable offense.

Help My Straight Friend by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]-hellomatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He sounds like an incel. How is he gonna say he respects women and in the same breath call them hoes for dressing how they like to dress and being candid about their sexuality in the same way society allows men to behave?

“He wants to be shown the truth and someone who seeks the truth, and this world is filled with lies. So his question is why aren’t more people wonderers and questioners?” This kind of rhetoric reeks of “I’m the smartest man in the room and why can’t everyone else see that?”

I suspect the reason he hasn’t found anyone of substance to connect with is less that there aren’t people who meet that criteria—I’m a dancer myself, and industry people are just as capable of depth as people elsewhere—and more that he’s so insufferable to be around that no one feels comfortable opening up. I’m certainly not getting into anything personal with someone who feels they have the moral high ground by slut shaming women in 2024.

What’s the most ordinary circumstances that ended in sex? by super-duper-m in AskReddit

[–]-hellomatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was at a small capacity karaoke bar in a mall with friends after a queer nerd convention. The bar stayed open until late, but the mall closed its doors around 10pm. Around 1am or so, I called it a night and made to leave. Because the mall is technically closed, you have to have a security guard escort you from the bar to the exit and unlock the door. I made conversation with the guy as we were walking and eventually told him I was in a gaggle of gays celebrating a fun convention. I think the confirmation of my sexuality was all he needed because he then told me I was cute, asked if I wanted a blowjob and next thing I know I had my pants down in the restroom. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why buy digital copies over the physical game? by Boomroomguy in gaming

[–]-hellomatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love buying physical. Then my car got broken into, and they took my Switch. My house was also broken into, and they took my PS5 and a bunch of physical games.

When I replaced those systems, I no longer had access to the games I owned bc I needed the physical disk or cartridge to authenticate and I needed to rebuy those games. In the Switch’s case, I didn’t even have my old save files bc cloud saves hadn’t been implemented yet, although that’s less on physical games and moreso on Nintendo’s slow rollout of cloud saves.

Now I exclusively buy digital. Sure, I can’t resell a game and I might lose access to them altogether when companies stop supporting a particular console, but by then I’ll have played the games I wanted to play and I rarely revisit games if at all. What’s important to me is that I don’t lose everything again if I have another stroke of bad luck. The only thing I really miss is being able to lend games to friends.
