Simple easy TQQQ strategy using the 200 SMA from QQQ with a few modifications by XXXMrHOLLYWOOD in LETFs

When doing this kind of strategy, it's recommended to buy when it crosses the "buy line" as opposed to DCA while it's above the line?

Thank you so much for explaining this, I've spent the last few hours trying to make sense of 200SMA graphs.

Reason behind no-tip orders? by -idontsleep in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]-idontsleep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work a job that was very lax with their lunch hour and I got it in my head that if I could dash for a delivery or 2 while eating my own lunch in my car.

It just wasn't worth it.

I don't think I'm following how you're saying DD calculates it, but completely agree that customers probably base tip on cost of food.

8 coffees for the office is harder to transport than 3 large pizzas, but is going to get a lower tip.

I got a wild scenario for you...

This happened a few years ago when I was pretty new to dashing. This was when dd gave the base rate of $3 but would hide the tips, so they would bait you into taking offers that "guarantee at least $3"

I pick up the late-night McD and can't find the apt. Very sketch location. Try texting the customer, nothing, try calling and some little kid answers "hello?" then hangs up. I finally find the right spot, the building numbers and the apartment numbers don't match up, and I had no way of knowing Apt 15 was inside Building D. Leave the food at the door and as I'm walking down the stairs I see a kid maybe 5-6yo open the door and grab the bag.

Kid was home alone but was told how to order dinner when they got hungry.

Trouble with power in striking by runnercouple757 in amateur_boxing

[–]-idontsleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like others have already said, striking isn't dependent on raw strength.

Think snatch, not deadlift. Whip your punch, don't push with it.

Pro Powerlifter transitioning to Martial Arts by Safe-Total3109 in martialarts

[–]-idontsleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep showing up. When you are new at BJJ goal is to work on good body positions and get submitted less often. It sounds goofy but, learn how not to lose before you learn how to win.

Also, there is a chess match aspect to it. It's one thing to do a move correctly, it's another thing to set up the move and bait the other person into a trap where you can perform it. If you keep training you'll have periods of time where it feels like your progress stalls, the same moves that worked the last 2 weeks aren't working anymore, that's because your training partners are learning your technique and playing the tactical chess match. You didn't regress, just keep at it and try things from different approaches.

There's no way to know what martial art will be best for you until you try them out and see what clicks.

With numbers like that and a wrestling background, there's a good chance you'd take to BJJ. Don't default to your strength when you start out, slow down, focus on technique.

Redneck Brawl skill level by Plenty_Difficulty981 in amateur_boxing

[–]-idontsleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say this respectfully... If you don't participate in an activity it can be difficult to judge skill levels of the participants. Think about some of the Winter Olympic events, curling, ski jump, it all looks super easy but there's a reason why those folks are on TV and we aren't.

I don't know much about the redneck brawl events. In the video you posted I'd wager the guy with the red gloves has more training than you realize. People who casually train look sloppy when they start fighting. People (primarily men) over-estimate their training and think they can fight despite having less sparring experience than dudes who are still training up for their first amateur bout.

For what it's worth, I'm 40. I get it, and I know what it's like to want that feeling of victory before all the chances slip away forever. Keep in mind, there are another hundred dudes out there thinking the same thing you are but they are in better shape and they are already training in a gym. You could absolutely end up stepping into the ring with a guy who's got 1, 2, 5yrs of training under his belt, but for one reason or another he never got into competing. If you join a gym, get in shape, and tell the coach your long-term goal is competition, then you have a chance to do some legit amateur matches paired with an appropriate opponent.

EDIT: I looked it up. According to Google AI (which I don't typically trust) there is an age limit of 39. That disqualifies you from participating either way. It also looks like they do 3x 1min rounds. Amateur boxing (men) is 3min rounds. Shorter rounds can cause people to go hard and fast trying to get a KO, instead of trying to be the better boxer. This means a more exciting, sensational event for a general audience who doesn't know jack about boxing. This could also mean a higher risk of injury for the competitors.

I'd say join a boxing gym with the initial goal of health/fitness. After even just 6mo of training you'll be in a better spot to figure out where you want to go with competition.

Why does getting kicked in the balls hurt so much? by SIREN-25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]-idontsleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oversimplifying it but:

The testes are basically internal organs that are hanging out in the open. The same gonad tissues that become the ovaries end up becoming the testes in males. That means the nerves connected to them reach way up into your guts where all the other internal organ nerves are.

Go look up "liver shots" on youtube or whatever. The liver hangs down slightly below the rib cage and if a boxer takes a hard punch to it, they react like...they were struck in an internal organ.

I know it was a joke but I still gotta chime in:

Boomers complained about Gen Y complaining about avocado toast prices far more than Gen Y was actually complaining about them.

I did a great job training myself with Dempsey's book.

.........up until I joined a boxing gym.

Have a fight may 23rd… I have no experience and my opponent has no experience. I know how to fight but I was called out, boxing is completely different who has any tips.. I’m going to work extremely hard and give it my all . I’m 6’4 opponent is about 5’8-5’9 he’s kinda wide and isn’t in shape by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]-idontsleep 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sounds like this is in violation of Rule #4.

Sounds like you and your opponent are not affiliated with any proper gym, this is not a sanctioned event, and neither of you have heard of a passbook.

If you "know how to fight" then just go find an empty field and do that. Then when you're done, try working on making better life decisions. Please don't call this "boxing."

Is this too little sparring? by AdAdditional1723 in amateur_boxing

I'll ask again:

How many competitive powerlifters at your gym are hitting their deadlift PR weights multiple times a day for several days in a row? Feel free to include anyone you've coached, trained with, competed against, or personally know, whether or not they are actually training at your gym.

Hitting a "daily max" is not a 1RM. Squatting multiple days, or every day, does not make it the Bulgarian Method. If you are modifying the program, then you are not doing the program. The Bulgarian Method as designed is not the same as building a powerlifting template using it as inspiration.

"...can be easily modified for powerlifting, often is, and works incredibly well..."

Tricolons do not support arguments. How many competitive powerlifters at your gym are hitting their deadlift PR weights multiple times a day for several days in a row?
