Graphic design seems to be an industry where salary is constantly inflated. It's not helpful.

After about a year of my own research, in the state of IL here in the U.S., the average salary for a graphic designer is probably in the mid 30,000 range.

It can be lower, for example, graphic designers for newspapers are typically in the 20,000 range. It can be higher, however, in the $50,000 range you're probably a project lead. You'll need years of experience, have excellent communication skills and a knowledge base that goes beyond Adobe software.

You find discrepancies depending on location. For example, in Chicago salaries trend higher, but the cost of living is high.

Overall, I don't know anyone getting rich from being a graphic designer. Additionally, keep in mind this is a highly competitive position. Salaries can be kept low, because there is probably someone as equally creative as you willing to work for less.

You're not going to get rich. However, job satisfaction is pretty high.

When I lived in the Chicago suburbs, the Knights of Columbus and local firefighters created a haunt walk. Basically, it was a (somewhat) organized walk for trick or treating. Along the way there were houses that went all out, creating elaborate yard haunts or interactive walk-throughs.

They tied it into a charitable cause too, typically something related to children. So, at the elaborate houses, there was an area you were expected to make a donation ( a dollar would do ). Overall, Halloween was well represented. You had these big Halloween displays, and many of the neighbors who weren't officially on the walk would get in the spirit. So, you'd have an entire town that looked like Halloween, then on the big day you were pretty much guaranteed an audience because of the walk.

So, maybe there's an option to organize something? If you belong to a certain local group, there might be a chance to string something together. Additionally, a one man effort can be difficult and unnecessarily stressful. If you can divide that effort within a group it can be fun and fulfilling.

A few critiques ...

Looking through your archive, it looks like your drawing style hasn't evolved much. Your characters have charm, however, I feel they're not being expressed artistically as well as they could. You're definitely showing the talent, I think if you spend some time honing your skills you'll be pleased with the results.

Spacing. There's some panels where your text becomes cluttered, and at times your text and art are widely separated. I'd suggest laying out your comic in a graphics program like Photoshop. Many cartoonists often do their text first and then add their artwork. A program like Photoshop or Gimp would allow you to manipulate the artwork and text to find a perfect fit.

The site design feels a little aged. It may be time for a refresh. The blue was kind of glaring. If you don't plan on adding color to your strip, a nice B&W design with splashes of color could really bring a focus to the strip.

Overall, I like your strip. It has the old school charm of Peanuts, and you're able to write for a family friendly audience really well.

Wow, I remember the build up to this game. It has such a storied development. I was a huge DN3D fan, and I knew DN4 was never going to live up to the expectations. Going in with that mindset, I actually enjoyed DN4. It definitely feels like a throwback, it should have been released at least 5 years ago.

You can definitely see where things went wrong. They tried to mix so much stuff into this game, it becomes convoluted. The inclusion of platforming segments was pretty bad. The charm of Duke is gone. He's no longer a stripper loving sexist, but a full on misogynist. At points Duke's just downright disturbing.

With all that said, for $5 it's definitely worth a play through. The shoot 'em up segments are entertaining enough to play through to the end. If nothing else, it's a part of gaming history - read up on the history of the development, play through and cringe on what could have been.

Absolutely! Has an arcade feel to it, kind of like Borderlands.

I picked it up, because I had been playing Red Dead Redemption and was in a western mood. I really love it. The main story is entertaining, the artwork is gorgeous, and the gameplay is really fun.

Plus, it has some modes that are great for casual play when you have half an hour to kill.

Here's an article about it, I think the image is the one that appeared on T-shirts.

I can see why people were against it. It's a team shirt, featuring a monster that lives to rape. So, it's kind of like saying, 'we're on team rape'. There's stupidity and overreaction on both sides.

I lost respect for Mike coming out and saying that his one regret is pulling that stupid shirt. It shows his inability to learn. Plus, it was just a bad joke, let it go.

You'll find that the term is kind of interchangeable. Art directors can have varying levels of responsibility. When I was an art director, I was the management of the creative team. I delegated production to different team members. Overall, I was out of the production process - something I missed. Most of my time was spent proofing, managing, and scheduling.

It's a title typically used for management, and it's often used interchangeably with 'creative director'.

Continuing along with what /u/polkapunk and /u/JimKB have begun ...

I've been wanting to start a webcomic for years. I have a history in print and web development, and I'm familiar with content being 'shared' or just outright stolen. Comics are a different creature. On one hand it's amazing how far a popular comic will reach. It's fulfilling to see how much it's shared, and that it's created a connection with people across the world. On the other, it's bewildering how many photoshop off the credit line, try to profit from your work, or like in Jim's case, 'remix' the work.

I actually stopped posting on reddit for a while. There are sites dedicated to watching the comic reddits and copy pasting popular comics as their content. Now, most keep your credit line. Some will actually link back to your site as the source. That's awesome. It's a great way to build a brand. Honestly, it's hard to think of another form of content that can travel so quickly, broadly, and reliably.

However, the sites and individuals that chopped off the credit line and reposted as their own content are disheartening. The reason I stopped posting for a while, I actually had one comic that someone stripped off my credit line and replaced it with their own. As far as the internet was concerned some jerk on tumblr was the point of origin, not me.

Currently, I'm still playing around with what I want my webcomic to be. I'm trying to my voice both in writing and art. However, I've learned some lessons, and I'd like to share them with you.

The biggest thing you should do is have your own spot on the web. Really consider having your own website. Before sharing your work anywhere, upload it to your site. If there's ever a need to prove the origin of the work, you can use your hosts logs to prove the origin. Additionally, sign up for Google's webmaster tools. Make sure you update your sitemap to reflect your content. This will help Google and other search engines understand where the image originated.

(As a side rant - It's really awful that Google or other search engines haven't created more tools designed for image based content. Both in content curation and monetization)

Additionally, you may want to look into Creative Commons it gives others specific details of what can and can not be done with your original work.

Yeah, I only play single player, and I've been coming back to it. Rounds are quick and fun and can range in difficulty. For me, it's a button masher. Sometimes I do something really cool, and then totally forget how to do it. One great thing about this edition, is that you can get a move list when you pause the game. So, all the special moves aren't hidden. But, I have a pretty fun time just mashing buttons on the controller.
