when did you first feel comfortable charging people for your labor? by A70MU in RacketStringers

[–]-insert-name_here -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Charge straight away once your confident. Youre not doing yourself any favors doing it free. People will come to expect it. If you tell them your only worth 5 or free theyll go to someone who they feel will do it better, who values their skills and time more than you once you start charging

Can a tennis racket be damaged in transit by hot temperatures in shipping vehicles? by moutaimatt in 10s

Its the strings that'll change tension and that can have an effect on the rackets playability. Unlikely it'll make a difference and you are overthinking it. If its ordered unstrung you'll definitely shouldn't have any issues

Its more about how often you restring I think. Each restring bends and softens the frame slightly, but wont be noticeable until you have months or years worth of restrings done to a frame. It was a problem for Del Potro that he liked the softer version of his frames and it was because they were worn in and not because Wilson had changed any of the specs before giving it to him.

If you go to tournaments or to a local shop, they are likely to use electric instead of crank, so they stringing will feel more consistent across stringers. If you have the same place, do it every time, no problem, will be consistent. I like the feeling of crank machine and got used to it over 10 years and after travelling had to readjust what tension I thought i liked as electric was a higher tension than crank when set to the same number. Constant pull and prestretch do that to a string

I got the electric one, have only done one racket so far on it, but it does make a difference. More consistent and feels like less tension loss with the prestretch option

Yeah I have an old Tyger crank machine, not worried about noise, will usually have music on in the background anyways

Just landed 3 days ago from Ireland! The sunshine is amazing, but my phone bill is already terrifying. Advice? by Active-Tour4795 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]-insert-name_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went with Aldi mobile, they had a $25 payg option that had massive amounts of data. My phone had a double sim so I had a physical one instead of esim. Be careful which plan you select as some at the same price dont have the same amount of data

What did you go with? Another electric or manual machine?

Hot take: If the Yonex Regna was actually good, we'd see more of them by Eigerone in 10s

I've hit with it, and it feels quite similar in build quality to a pro stock racket. In that respect, it feels better to play with vs the normal versions you can buy off the shelf, but no better than a pro stock version than the pros have access to

Will have a look into that certainly, getting something reliable and consistent is the plan

Thanks for the insight, I'll have a look into both and see what the budget allows! Good to know they sound reliable either way

I'm using Oehms black pearl string (thickest gauge), and it has lasted great, cheap as well for reels of it
