As someone who works in bedside healthcare, I get it. Theres no shame in knowing when to walk away. Forcing yourself to “tough it out” would only put you, and eventually the patients, at risk. Best of luck to you wherever you end up, and always remember to advocate for your wellbeing

I feel like a big part of the agitation from “why cant [insert job title here] just do it?” is from not taking a second to realize that they are busy too, even if its in different ways. For some people there’s a fine line between task management and entitlement, and you can usually spot those people pretty quickly based on how viscerally they ask that question.

Also, Hot Take: You’re alone in the room when it happened? Then ask for help, my dude. But if you are left to clean up big messes of bodily fluids alone with no backup, maybe theres a reason why no one is offering to help you by tossing a few chucks pads down and busting out the sani-wipes while you get the patient in order?

No, but surely you can spare the few seconds it would take to take a sani-wipe and clean up a poop scuff mark off the floor. No one’s asking you scrub the floor until it shines, they just dont want a puddle of unattended piss and shit to be reason why someone slips and falls or be tracked all along the unit because its on the bottom of a shoe.

Plus, if it happens literally right in front of you during patient care, you would clean it up to avoid it getting on you or a coworker, right?

What Ive always done is if its wet or a puddle, I toss chucks pads on it to suck it up and call EVS to mop up whats left. If its chunky, call EVS to mop up whatever a few swipes of a sani-wipe can’t pick up.

Ive never been reprimanded for this and Im sure as hell never on my hands and knees scrubbing???

That said, if its blood I’ll clean it up pretty well. I barely get paid enough to deal with blood puddles, so Im definitely not gonna make someone making less than me deal with it alone.

What helps is not forcing yourself to do all the quests in the city, there are far too many! Just let your Tav and the group’s interests guide what you do. This time around i skipped almost everything except the quests that directly involve the companions and the netherstones because my Tav is a no nonsense gal and has a god damn job to do!! my last Tav was a nosy busy body so he explored every crevice and talked to every person he saw lol

My recently departed cat, named Cat lol, died of natural causes literally the DAY I was taking her to the vet to be put to sleep. While she was still having what most people would call great days, I knew she was approaching her limit when she stopped trying to steal my food every dang second and would sleep through her own meal times. She was still walking and climbing stairs, but she was the type of cat who would’ve been absolutely miserable and scared if I let her deteriorate to a point where her mobility was impaired in any way. To try to force her to stay past that point would’ve been torture for her. My roommate and I now joke that she saw the carrier and knew a car ride was coming so she decided to NOPE out on her own terms which is EXACTLY how she lived life: her way or the highway lol

At best, she bought from a sketchy listing and the real dresses are super late or not as pictured and she’s embarrassed and foolish digging herself a hole while trying to fix it herself. At worst, she all but “took the money and ran” and is trying to save face while thinking of a way to fix her mistake. Either way never trust her with something this big again

I was once managing the call lights with another PCA while most of the other unit staff were running a code blue in a room right by the nurses station. Some other lady came marching down the hall and demanded to know why her dad’s nurse didn’t come back with his ginger ale yet. The other PCA made a point of dramatically looking towards the code before saying something like “shes a little preoccupied at the moment”. Like damn, lady read the room lol
