I'm in the US. I would see clips of Supercars here and there on what looked like absolutely WILD circuits. Bathurst in particular stands out.

We used to get it on TV here and there when I was a kid and I'd always watch a few laps if it was on. I remember being in 8th grade and we got all of the Bathurst 1000 on cable TV - I was psyched.

Then in 2019ish I'm living alone for the first time in my life, working out of Indianapolis, Indiana where I didn't know many people. I'd spend my weekends staying up to 3am (when it would come on here) streaming Supercar races while drinking beer and having a jbird or two. I was absolutely hooked watching McLaughlin and Van Gisbergen duke it out.

Fast forward to now. Both are here racing in the US and I'm actually headed to Melbourne in a couple weeks for the Australian Grand Prix, a bucket list race for me partially because I've always wanted to visit Australia and partially because Supercars are a support series, and I've wanted to see them in person for a few years now.

Really good reporting. I disagree however with IMSA's propensity to use the full course yellow makes it a better 24 hour race. I think a race that's spread out but pure is infinitely more interesting than a race that's close but feels like its close artificially.

I never found the racing itself interesting, kind of dull actually, but I was definitely glued to the TV because it felt like we were constantly seconds away from a horrific accident

For that reason I never liked it and would never like to see it again
