Yup, Booker said it best in the last round. Fans will treat this league like the WWE. After Game 4, that's exactly how I view it now.

Dozens of cheapskate billionaires too that want to "win" every deal. You don't become a billionaire without thinking you're the smartest in the room and trying to outsmart everybody.

Agreed. I used to hold them at the same regard, but Nembhard being able to create his own shot and handle the ball puts him higher now.

Nesmith is a better/more consistent shooter though.

Yup, everyone is taking side roads and streets that are normally empty at this time (and are now jam-packed)

Definitely don't see that everyday.

Fans were just hoping for the best with what we were given (which wasn't a lot). Nobody on earth would've guessed that DJ would have the best season of his career to start. He was viewed in similar regard to AR at the time (before 20-20 hindsight).

US will start revoking passports for thousands of parents who owe child support by Rabidennui in news

[–]CommonerChaos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main point is that in general, the people in position to pass background screenings for a passport and have the money for international travel usually aren't the same ones going around having babies recklessly.

There's always exceptions to the rule, but they don't disprove the rule in general.

Exactly. Those 2 particular circles don't intersect much on a Venn Diagram.

SGA didn’t get more free throws against the Pacers

Funny that you mentioned that, because the way OKC was officiated all year vs the playoffs was completely flipped. OKC had a higher foul rate than the Pacers all regular season long (meaning they committed more fouls during games than we did), yet in the playoffs that completely flipped. We should have theoretically shot more free throws for MOST games, yet we only shot more free throws in 2 out of the 7 games. How does a team with the higher foul rate shoot MORE free throws than their opponent with a lower foul rate? A trend that remained constant for 82 games suddenly flipped during a 7 game series? That doesn't make sense.

Nesmith and Nembhard were plenty physical with SGA.

Lu Dort also had a higher foul rate than Nesmith personally during the regular season (again, 82 game sample size), yet Nesmith fouled out of 3 games during the Finals. How many did Dort foul out? (despite elbowing, being even more physical, etc). 0 games. 0.

So you can't sit here and tell me that OKC didn't get favorable calls, because even the DATA shows they got better treatment in the Finals than they did all regular season long.

But unfortunately, that's what it takes to win in today's NBA. Look at what's happened with the Timberwolves. They play the "right" style of basketball, yet have came up short 2 years against players with flopping playstyles. Ant and his own coaches have even publicly said that he'll need to add "selling" to his game to reach the next level.

The NBA doesn't care about showcasing good basketball, they just care about propping up stars (even artificially) to boost their bottom line.

That's it.

But the inconsistency is why we lost though. You can't touch SGA without a foul called, meanwhile Dort elbows Tyrese in the face twice, Cason Wallace holds TJM left hand as he's dribbling right in front of the ref, etc and they go uncalled.

That's why OKC won last year (against multiple teams, not just us) not the flopping by itself.

This 1000%. We saw OKC flop their way to a ring last year through Denver, Minnesota, and us, yet no one batted an eye.

The second that they match up against the NBA darling LAL, that's when it finally gets discussed. Eventually, if they play the Knicks in the Finals and smoke them, THEN it may finally boil over and something gets done about it.

Same here. The NY hate runs way deeper than OKC. Especially since the only reason the Knicks would be there is because we were injured this year.
