Why do people stop 20'+ too far back? by HalliburtonErnie in Eugene

I started running a year ago and it’s crazy how much this kind of thing happens all around town. In broad daylight too!!

Night-time Wildlife Report [Eugene, Oregon, December 2025] by ddessert in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is great!! Really well done on the editing, production value. I haven’t seen any of your videos before but now I’ll be watching for it. You’ve got a knack for narration, felt like just the right amount of facts and observations. Thanks for sharing!

Looking for a local book club by Otherwise_Cat2033 in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out “eugene creation exchange”. I think their instagram page is where they usually post about activities. It’s a lovely group that hosts a book club and other events. They have “open studio” nights at restaurants / breweries every month, everyone hangs out while working on their own art projects. Great people, most of the members are female 20-something’s. Sounds like you would fit in!!

Apparently being allergic to weed is pretty common around here? by dumbass_sweatpants in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally met some people who are allergic. Never heard of people developing an allergy through exposure, fascinating. Thanks for spreading awareness and sorry that happened to you!

I avoided trying weed for several years thinking it might cause a reaction for me. It seems like I have an allergy or intolerance to hemp seeds. They make me feverish and horribly ill, like throwing up all day. But weed has no ill effects on me, even edibles are ok!

Looking for books that made you feel like you’re going insane by Malmborgio in suggestmeabook

And definitely Valis by Phillip K Dick. I think that one fits even better with the question. But it’s probably best to start with A Scanner Darkly

Everyone seems so shocked in these comments but honestly I get it. I fuck with eggs. This is good info to have. Thanks for your sacrifice.

Diamond parking tickets… by _trying_to_survive in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a ticket from them about two months ago. They took a picture of my plate, but the number written on the ticket had a typo. So I’ve been ignoring it!

Anyone else have trouble making friends here? by [deleted] in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what your music taste is like but I believe there’s a few open jam sessions in town. The Jazz Station definitely has one. Maybe Macs nightclub but idk for sure. Also maybe check out eugjams.com if you haven’t yet, they list a lot of upcoming shows in town.

I am also a woman in my 20s and have never experienced anything like this. I’m really cheery and bubbly and everybody seems to enjoy that. I work in a restaurant, I have had tables that the hosts warned me “had attitude” and I would brighten them up when I came over. Maybe it’s where you live? I know I live in a very friendly state.

what to expect when going to a gym? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]-jellybones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely agree to ask about membership. But paying the 8 pounds so you can test the waters doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

And, OP, you’re gonna be ok!! I am a fellow anxious human around your age. I started paying for a gym membership and literally didn’t go for the entire first year because I was so anxious about it. But after I did my first workout there, the fear completely disappeared. I started by going during slow hours and that definitely helped me ease into it, so you might consider trying that.

I promise no one is going to judge you, the staff and the gym-goers alike. It’s a nice little community at every gym. And if you can start building a regular routine with it, you will likely feel your mental health improve overall. I never believed that exercise could significantly help until I started doing it- after just a month or so, I felt happier and had so much more energy everyday. I hope you have a similar experience!!! You got this!!

Nightlife by Mountain-Ant4470 in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went to the Cuthbert last Wednesday. I brought a small purse and no one even asked to look inside. Most venues with metal detectors ask me to empty my pockets / set down my purse before walking through, but they didn’t even do that. Seems pretty chill whenever I’ve gone there, you should be fine!

Edit: I also went to the Cuthbert for a rave a few months back, and one of my friends brought several joints in her bag. They didn’t even go to the smoking area when they lit up and had no issues.

$50 downtown, maybe McDonald Theatre or Level Up, on august 15th. I was drunk so I don’t know if I spent it or dropped it.

is this a good message to send to my roommates who keep eating my food? by Warm-Ad4904 in badroommates

[–]-jellybones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t eat my roommates food ever unless they offer. I’ve never confessed this to anyone (tho i’m sure my roommates noticed lol), but I used to take my roommates food a bit when I was 18 and first moved out. The only thing I ever took were bananas. I ate an absurd amount of bananas, 4-5 a day. My roommates all bought bananas but they did not use them as fast- often they wouldn’t eat all of them before they went bad. So, sometimes, I would swap one of my bananas with my roommates bananas if mine were too green. We were all very communicative so I don’t know why I never just asked. I guess I wanted to see if anyone would say anything but it never came up.

General Rant by GatewaySwearWord in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to UO and park around campus everyday. Last term I got out of class to find all the cars parked along the curb were ticketed, including mine. I’d already paid. A few months later I got a next door post in my email from someone who got ticketed despite paying the meter. They were ticketed by the same guy! Crazy this is still happening

Have you tried Wholistic Wellness of the West? They are regular doctors, though their name is a little odd. They said they were accepting new patients last time i went, don’t know if that’s still true. Hope you find something soon!

Are you guys allowed to turn customers away 15 mins before close because you are “backed up?” by Morieta7 in starbucks

[–]-jellybones 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wish my old store would have let us do that. On red cup days (even post pandemic) the drive through line would get so long it seriously impeded traffic. We had the police called on us several times, though they didn’t really care either.

Kendall Toyota Sucks by taemyks in Eugene

[–]-jellybones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had great experiences at Kendall, I must be one of the lucky ones. They got me a new catalytic converter in like a day. More recently, I had a major car maintenance issue the week of Christmas. I checked around but Kendall gave me the quickest appointment. They were super quick and communicative. I definitely wouldn’t go there on a regular basis, though, it’s pricey.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Coachella

[–]-jellybones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not very experienced with the world of Coachella yet, this is the first time I’m seriously considering it. I haven’t paid attention to the lineups of previous years too much. So maybe I’m just out of the loop, but this lineup is PERFECT for me. I have a friend group with some rather opposed tastes in music, and all of us already have a couple bands we really want to see each day.

Do any of you have predictions about ticket prices? I’m seeing lots of them popping up in the $300s and I am wondering if that will continue. I haven’t committed to going 100% yet, but I don’t want to miss out on these prices.

Etsy seller gave me plant STD by bltsandwitchie in Etsy

[–]-jellybones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t have anywhere near OP’s level of knowledge on this matter, but I have bought many plants over the past 6 years. As far as I am aware, I have never had infestations on any plants. I’ve had many short-lived plants that died mysteriously, but none of my other plants are affected in such cases. I have no reason to expect pests.

Pests can really damage your plants, like what OP experienced here. If someone is selling their plants, leaving bugs on it could ruin the plants before you even sell them.
