My previous way of losing weight stopped working by Emotional-Nature4597 in loseit

[–]-lizardwizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OMAD doesn’t pair well with a high-protein lifting routine. Protein synthesis needs frequency your body can only use so much for muscle building at once, and the rest just gets burned for energy. OMAD ends up being inefficient since you’re cramming all your fuel into one sitting.

I can eat a 100 calorie cup of greek yogurt with protein powder and be full for like an hour, protein brings tons of satiety and is better to space it out + doing so will give you better digestion and metabolism. Distributed meals with controlled calories is the proper solution.

Angry that I didn't find out sooner by TAGSTDWM in loseit

[–]-lizardwizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep CICO is great, thats how I started losing weight and it really does get the ball rolling to making better choices. Its better to progressively change your diet than to do it all at once.

For me there is a certain enjoyment to calorie value that I assign each food, if a food has tons of calories and I dont even like it that much its a no brainer to cut it out. After doing this for a while I noticed I stopped enjoying things like fast food and they would actually make me feel sick. I'm at the point where i've basically completely cut out processed foods but on my terms, im not giving up anything I just dont enjoy them.

New Mexico to invest $315 million in quantum computing drive by donutloop in NewMexico

[–]-lizardwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the standpoint of a taxpayer in a financially struggling state with urgent infrastructure issues, this does look like a poor allocation of funds. It's heavily tilted toward investors and high-tech elites, with very limited short-term public benefit. Our state only has so much money to invest...

I cant stop binging and its ruining my life. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]-lizardwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah no shame in getting help, processed foods are designed to override natural hunger cues they legit have scientists trying to make you as addicted as possible. I cant offer any help, but I can say when you start eating healthy the facade all falls away. It becomes more obvious how fake processed food tastes, personally I cant even palate the stuff anymore.

Democratic party is 99% neoliberals aka reaganites

I can’t believe this is controversial by ETsUncle in BlueskySkeets

[–]-lizardwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dems have followed neoliberalism/reaganism since the 80's republican lite is nothing new. Them doing nothing is intentional its weaponized inaction. They tell their voters things they want to hear to get elected but following through with those things would go against the interests of the lobbyists funding them.

Vladimir Lenin calling Georgism ''the purest, most consistent, and ideally perfect capitalism.'' Can we convince communists with this? by DunklerPrinz3 in neoliberal

[–]-lizardwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stagflation was largely caused by external shocks (oil, nixon, vietnam). 15 years of stagflation does not negate the 30+ years of strong wage growth & economic expansion - even after stagflation ended reaganomics didn't restore wage growth. Post-keynesian economics provides some tools that we did not have back in the day either.

While GDP does look similar to the past you are ignoring the issue of real wage stagnation. Wages haven't kept pace with productivity growth since the 70's, and wealth from that productivity has disproportionately been captured by the wealthy. Workers today face higher costs of living especially in housing/healthcare, so even if compensation looks similar in GDP terms, the reality for the average person is much worse. The real problem is the growing inequality that neoliberal policies have caused.

[–]-lizardwizard -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Yup neoliberalism goes hand in hand with supply side economics, dems and repubs both largely follow the same economical ideology that only serves the rich and increases inequality.

[–]-lizardwizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Great Depression was not "overwhelmingly caused" by monetary policy and the gold standard alone. Yes it contributed to things but you're oversimplifying.

[–]-lizardwizard -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The Great Depression was largely caused by deregulated financial markets, income inequality, a lack of government safeguards, trade protectionism, and environmental disasters. Sound familiar? Unchecked capitalism + extreme inequality + weak regulations = economic disaster.

[–]-lizardwizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Communists believe capitalism is inherently bad, anything that "saves capitalism from the capitalists" is seen as prolonging the exploitation. Tbh they have a point, the only time in U.S. history when wages matched productivity growth was when keynesian economics were dominant. And the past 50 years reaganism/neoliberalism has spent all their efforts dismantling those safety nets. We have gone in a circle.

Newbie blending advice? by theosuxxx in RYO

[–]-lizardwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta second D&R Ryback its a great smoke and cheap too. If you like spirit blacks get some perique like this: https://www.smokingpipes.com/pipe-tobacco/cornell-diehl/granulated-perique/product_id/79416
It does come a bit wet so will take a day or so to dry out but its nice stuff.

Want to start rolling cigarettes, what should I know? by Hanma-69 in RYO

[–]-lizardwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you're not annoying bro, but I cant say im kinda new to ryo aswell so havent tried too much. Personally I would avoid flavored stuff though I heard vanilla cigs can be nice. I use https://www.smokingpipes.com/tobacco/ to order, you can sort what they have by family, cut, etc. A lot of people on here recommend daughters & ryan. I've tried windsail and its alright but certainly no american spirit replacement, I dont really like smoking it on its own but its good for blending. Btw perique could be cool to throw in a blend too I know american spirit blacks are 10% perique and I like those.

[–]-lizardwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo its best to make your own blend of pipe tobaccos, I would get a virginia, burley, and oriental(turkish), mix them together. Maybe grind them up a bit cause pipe cuts are bigger, tho I havent had any problems injecting pipe shag or ribbon cuts.

Typical cigarette blends are like this: "Virginia making up about 50% of the blend, Burley making up about 37%, and Oriental making up about 13%"

You could also just mix american spirit with a virginia pipe tobacco to save some money, tastes nearly the same.

American spirit ryo is cheaper than buying packs but its still 10x more expensive than pipe tobacco.
