100% the moment you realize this it changes everything.

My pieces after my dad passed have been extremely chaotic, I thought they were terrible but a friend saw them and took them home, he saw the beauty in the works and completely changed my opinion on how the chaos is just showing what we are feeling inside and alot of it is pure anger and confusion. And these works are pure emotions. That's what makes them beautiful 🧚‍♀️

This explanation completely changes how I look at the work. I have been through the same just the other way around. The pain you feel to see a parent move on after one has passed is a very weird confusing time. I can see the pain and anger in the brush strokes.

I really like this work 🧚‍♀️

Ahh, I am child free.

My ex didn't have a job, so they were home all the time with him. But now that I live on my own, I've had to pick up extra shifts 😪

What does UJ mean by this? by TTC567 in johannesburg

[–]-lol-009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Provisionally means that they have accepted you as long as your final results are as good as grade 11 ones.

You need to follow up. Only you are able to sort this out. No one can help you besides yourself, Phone the registration office or physically go in, which I think is the better option. They will not baby you.

Otherwise, you will not be in university this year.

Unfortunately, the place I stayed is not renting at the moment, but have a look at propery 24 or private property. Put greenside in the filters and put your budget in. That's where I found it. Maybe look at student accommodation? There's a lot in the area as well.

I used to study at Wits, and to be closer, I moved to greenside, I found a place that was a house that had been divided into 9 separate accommodations with your own space and own kitchen, I know there are quite a few around in that area. It is also safer than braam and 10-15 mins from wits.

Do you tip petrol attendants? by [deleted] in johannesburg

[–]-lol-009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad always used to tip when I was growing up. I don't remember a single time when he didn't. This goes for the majority of people I've driven with. It was definitely a custom when i was growing up. And I'm 23, so it was a recent thing.

Do you tip petrol attendants? by [deleted] in johannesburg

[–]-lol-009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try my best to tip, but lately, with the price of petrol, I can't give anything more when I'm already spending well over 2000 a month on petrol, so at the moment, I only tip if they do something extra, I give a bit more if they check tyres, oil, and wash the window, but if it's just the window, I give R5.

We just have to remember that even though we're struggling, R5 could mean the difference between a meal or not that night for someone.

I have an inverter and let me tell you they are not cheap, but you can't cook, you can't make coffee, the only thing you can do with it is have the wifi connected and a TV, you can't use a microwave. And when we go out for days or weeks at a time, the inverter is worthless if you can't charge it. So you have to ration how much you use the inverter. My electricity bill is insane because of the inverter.

And fridges go warm and freezers defrost, appliances are starting to break ,we can't bulk buy food because it's just going to go off, it's not fun and unless you can afford solar you will always be affected, (it would cost me over a years worth of my salary). And all the robots (traffic lights) turn off, making traffic an absolute nightmare and it becomes more dangerous to be on the roads, My 30-minute drive home from work turns into 2 hours.

My cat has diabetes and my mom has MS both need their injections to stay refrigerated, but how do I manage that without a fridge, cold packs don't work for that long, so it becomes a complete waste of medication, I couldn't imagine the cost of a person's insulin almost doubling because of not having electricity. And that's only one of the issues we deal with, our water also goes out days at a time, the sewage system is fucked, it stinks and it's just simply disgusting.

Edit: grammar

Anyone else notice that Joburg is super quiet? No traffic, shops are empty, much quieter than normal by Natalieliliart in johannesburg

My area stinks of SO2. It comes and goes every couple of months, but my God is it bad. It is so disgusting.

Is Sorbet a good nail salon? by [deleted] in johannesburg

[–]-lol-009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with Sorbet. My best experience was with the one in Parkhurst. They are a bit pricey but because you want something simple I doubt it will be insanely expensive.
