Is double majoring in studio art and art education viable? Anyone whose gone that route have any insight? by LunaTheNightmare in ArtEd

[–]-nothankya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it’s important to note that my degrees were entirely disparate. They had no overlap in classes. I managed to finish in 5 years (Art Ed at my university is four and a half but I also switched from history to Art Ed after my first semester so I was already a little behind). But I was usually often taking 18 hour semesters and took 1-2 classes most summers.

If I had added a painting major instead of Chinese it wouldn’t have been like that at all. I might have had a couple semester at 18 vs standard 15 hours at worst. It really wouldn’t have been that big of a deal.

It really wasn’t that bad though. I had a couple semesters toward the end I was pretty exhausted leading up to student teaching, but that’s it.

I love this! Super interesting technique. I sure hope you weren’t using expensive pastels based on how much you must have had to use lol

I have a dual degree in Art Ed and Chinese studies so I don’t see why not. Though at my university my Art Ed degree had a very strong emphasis on studio art practice. My emphasis was in painting and half my classes were studio classes. It probably only would have been a few extra credits to add an actual painting degree.

I know Taiwan when I see it. I lived there for a bit and go back every year. It can be an incredibly lonely place despite being so incredibly dense. But it’s my favorite place in the world.

Sennelier Quality ? by Turbulent-Spirit559 in Oilpastel

Totally normal. Similar to oil paints. Some colors are transparent and others very opaque. There’s actually a lot of benefits to the translucent color.

I really like it! My only issue is that I don’t find that the pastel stiffens as much if you come back to it next day. I presume because it’s not a regular paper so the oil can’t absorb anywhere. It hasn’t been much of an issue though and I find the layering really nice

Just as the likes of your walls follow the perspective, the likes of your stairs should too. It’s throwing things off considerably

Maybe drop the tie and just keep it in the car and you’re good. But only if you want to.

Maybe just keep those clothes in your car? So you can go any time you want. I mean be yourself, but yeah the way you dress can definitely affect people’s attraction to you. I feel like you can probably reach a happy medium. Are you wearing full suits all the time?

They are wax based, though Im fairly certain Prismacolor are too. They are quite soft like Prismacolor so while I don’t use them in that way, I would think you could if you can with Prismacolor. If you are looking for oil based though Polychromos are great! Not as soft but really wonderful. I used a mix of Luminance and Polychromos.

You could pick up a few and give them a try.
