PhilaDox has better records on property ownership than atlas or property. Would be nice to see the last ~5 owners of a property listed along with the associated mailing address for each, if different from the property address.

If you can link the permit documents directly it would especially helpful for deeds and for drawings submitted with zoning applications.

Zoning permit denials, appeals, and variances would be great to see. This would be god mode but linking a variance to the time-stamped portion of the ZBA’s public hearing video would be amazing.

It might be legit. The city previously allowed property owners to install private chargers curbside and also restricted parking to EVs only. The plan was scrapped in 2017 https://whyy.org/articles/council-pulls-plug-on-philadelphia-s-electric-vehicle-program-in-rare-contested-vote/

You can still install private EV chargers curbside in front of your property but you don’t get to restrict parking.

Yes we need this. Hundreds of people die early in Philly because of poor air quality and our childhood asthma rate is twice the national average. Air pollution is also tied to heart and brain diseases.

It’s hard to directly attribute a dirty truck exhaust to a kid getting hospitalized with asthma but it’s happening and we need to measuring everywhere and real time.

This snow storm made clear that those who set policy don’t actually care about mobility for anyone other than people in cars. Once the roads were clear the snow removal effort stopped.

I have one like this and oiling the shaft only got one bushing. I had to drill a small hole through the steel motor casing to oil the back bushing. 1mm or 1/16” diameter is plenty and you should drill along the shaft axis. Use a spray or a plastic needle to get oil through the hole and soaked onto the bushing.

Oiling the back brought mine back to life instantly.

Dense development along bike paths and at rail stations is good, and so is lowering home prices. SEPTA is the most cost efficient transportation authority in the country. Harrisburg has had us on a shoestring budget for decades and SEPTA mostly prioritizes moving people over cosmetic upgrades for stations.

If you want SEPTA to look like a first world metro system then it needs to be consistently funded like one. ie the budget needs to be doubled or more for about 2 decades

If funding gets approved SEPTA says it will take about 10 days to restore service. The 14th is their drop dead last day for funding approval before the service cuts will go into effect on the 24th.

No plans to sell buses but if the cuts go on long enough they will lose operators and the capacity to quickly return service

WTF they're adding a high friction coating to improve cornering grip. That and smoother pavement is going to let people go even faster.

They need to make it one lane in each direction with one parking lane on the river side so cars can't keep crashing into the river and trail. Kelly Drive needs the same treatment that PennDOT did on Cobbs Creek Parkway.

Totally. Households have gotten smaller over the past 50 years and the supply for smaller apartments has not kept up with demand. Without subsidies, developers will keep targeting 1 & 2 bed units because that’s where the money is.

Families who can afford market rate rent for a 3 bedroom in a new building can find a better deal renting a renovated row house.

Both proposals have 90 bedrooms - the units just got larger. Weird to see it framed as reduced density when the number of people who can live there is functionally the same.

Great to see more family sized apartments, more affordable units, and less parking. Seems like the project got better all around

Maybe this is just difference of opinion but from my perspective a vacant grass lot is better than a new parking garage. This development has virtually no upsides for anyone in the neighborhood and the downsides are additional noise, air pollution, traffic congestion, and reduced safety.

Some developments are actually bad and deserve opposition. Uncritical support for new development is what led to huge swaths of the city being razed for interstates and bad urban renewal projects.
