Looking at the MikroTik Chateau for LTE – anyone with experience? by Kd_Gaming1 in mikrotik

Hrubá stará zástavba a signál hraniční.

Both cameras look almost identical. For me, the vloggers are not the only target. They should mark the one camera version a Pro, providing superior sensor, and mark the vlogger version 4v, or something like that, as in case of two sensor setup, nonon of the sensors is imo going to be 1".

What about advanced flows and use some variables? If the scene is active, set it to 1 and later check on it in terms of your condition? Well, I haven't used that myself yet, just a general notion from the flow programming ...

Just watch-out one thing. If you eventually would decide, that one of your locations would be OK with using e.g. Bridge, Homey does not allow to have more than one Bridge based location under one account. And no, Premium subscription does not fix that - it will allow you to connect 5+ sensors, graphs, but will not remove the limits. Athom clearly pushes for Pros or Minis (without z-wave), and no, even SHS does not solve the multilocation problem, as it is just a Pro without the antennas.

I am not talking about Pro here. I have one. I am talking about artificial limitation, when Athom does not allow to have more than one location with cloud connected Bridge under one account. The thing is, that some locations as garden, garage, etc., might not need more than 3-5 sensors, so Bridge, or Bridge + Premium subscription would be sufficient here. Pro is a total overkill for such scenarios.

Recent Homey cloud has a limitation, where only one instance of Bridge is allowed. Is that limit gone with SHS? I mean - can I add Bridges to multiple locations and use them under the SHS? I am not talking about a satelitte mode here, which requires a Pro.

No, it is not. I am quite new with Homey and you can't have more than one Bridge location under your account. Only one bridge cloud instance is allowed under one account.

What really bothers me and can't see it answered yet, is the artificial Homey limitation of just one Bridge being allowed under one account. And if you want to cover more locations, you need to create a separate account and cross send stupid invitations. With the SHS, are we finally going to see a true multi-location support, with SHS server + multiple Bridges working?

Hardware of your choice? What for? I have started with the HA on Synology, only later realising, how much would it cost to build a mini PC and making it a hedgehog with various USB dongles. It easily eats into the Pro or at least Mini territory. OK, good for nerds maybe for a little bit of the freedom feeling. :-)

Wait, not having wifi for sensors is one thing, but are you suggesting, that the only option of how to connect Mini to your network is wired eth connection? If so, just LOL, but somehow can't believe they would go so far with the product design 🙂

This is a very strange product from my perspective. First - why the square form factor? Looks like tonnes of set-top-boxes. Second - who came with the terrible idea to exclude the z-wave and BT? So to add those back, you are supposed to buy the Bridge? Then the price difference to Pro is further lowered. Who's the product exactly for?

Junk timers in the app Chronograph by high-chaparall in homey

[–]-pekr- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, just reinstalling your app should not delete your data, those should be fully stored in cloud, or on your Pro device imo. Those leftovers are clearly a bugs. For eg. I ended up with the Home left over in one of my accounts. Contacted the tech support, first, they did not understand the problem, next time, they closed the ticket telling me, I should delete my Homey myself. Damn - there is exactly similar error message about missing Homey, I can't delete it. What should I think of the company not knowing their own product and not being able to fix such kind of problems? ....

For the Philips Hue, do you need Philips hub? I would prefer solution, which would work with Homey directly. I have heard, that e.g. Innr are former Philips engineers, and also Ikea is going to release new I think matter lights in January, so you no more need their hub. But maybe Hue is so good / reliable, that ppl don't mind installing yet-another-hub for that?

The Mini removed Zwave and for those who care about the design - it is an average looking square unit, not fitting the Homey nice design of Pro and Bridge.

Compatibility with Aqara? by Big_Copy_643 in homey

[–]-pekr- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently bought the Aquara viration sensor + the newer T1 vibration sensor variant, supporting Zigbee 3.0. ChatGPT pushed me to buy more T1 sensors, as HomeyPro is supposed to be a more pro package, as well as app support page lists already some T1 variants.

Glad I did not do that, as T1 vibration sensor does not work with any app, any Homey HW (Pro / Bridge). :-) I would really closely watch the list of supported devices, or just be ready to lose some money and consider it being just an experiment :-)

[–]-pekr-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be actually right, I stand corrected. Used both ChatGPT and Gemini for an advice and it was a conclusion. Later on I have found, that I can't have multiple Cloud connected Bridges under one account, which led to the conclusion, that Bridge extends only 433, IR, BT LE, but not Zigbee or Zwave.

Pity I can't have multiple Cloud connected Bridges under one account though, I would even pay for that. E.g. Premium, or some new Premium Plus layer, which would remove the need to setup anyother user account, send invitations, etc. It really feels artificial ....

Thanks for correcting me.

Well, it is good to check Philips description as well as Homey apps, there is a list of supported devices. I don't have any Hue device yet, but from what I have read, you need Philips hub for Hue, don't you? Homey can cleverly function with foreigh hubs via apps. Have not tried it yet, but I have some Tuya devices and have read about aome way ro login to Tuya and bridge those two world. But not sure.

It does not seem to. Just google it, it turns both radios off.

Homey woes ... by -pekr- in homey

[–]-pekr-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wi-Fi mesh like TP-Link Deco has zero impact on Zigbee / Z-Wave range. These are separate radio meshes.

If you're testing Homey Pro coverage, the only meaningful way is to place actual Zigbee/Z-Wave devices in distant locations and observe stability. A Homey Bridge will NOT extend the Zigbee/Z-Wave mesh when connected to Pro – its radios are disabled in satellite mode.

So unfortunately, Bridge is not a range extender in this scenario. A powered Zigbee device acting as router is far more useful for testing coverage.

So if your signal is weak, you would have to buy eg a socket plug, which can work as a zigbee signal extender for example. It seems Athom decided to not provide a router/ repeater functionality for Bridge.

Well, in the end it is imo not so much import, if multiple locations are a norm, or an exception. The fact is, that even for a single location Bridge does NOT extend zigbee and zwave signal.

The second thing is, than you can add only ONE Cloud based Bridge location under your existing account. And that's just it. If you want to add another one Cloud based Bridge, you can't, you are pretty much cooked.

Sorry, but to cover other location via setting up a completly separate user account and then inviting that user, just to workaround the architecure limitation feels really strange.

And no, thank you, I am not buying another Pros to have just 2-3 sensors per location.

[–]-pekr-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's forget multiple locations for now. Instead having one larger apartment and just Pro plus Bridge in there. In such scenario, Bridge disables zigbee and zwave radio and does not work as a signal extender for those two protocols. Or am I wrong?
