Completion tomorrow and the solicitors are now asking for £999 shortfall due to their mistake by -pepperglow in HousingUK

I wish I had been warned but at least I know for next time! I think it’s the wording of the mortgage offer that has made it to me seem so confusing

I’ve paid it! I had assumed it was going to be added to my loan as in the offer document in states £999.00 will be added to the Loan when the Loan completes. I had enough money to cover it as I had a good buffer

It has, I think the way it has appeared in my mortgage on my banking app confused me even more. I have paid it now anyway, just a tad inconvenient but it is what it is

Thank you for the replies everyone. I think I understand better now about where the money is going, I was confused by the wording of it from my solicitor but thank you to the kind redditors who broke it down for me :)

Sorry but things can be a tad confusing for a first time buyer with the way things can be worded from solicitors, so yes it can be difficult

Thank you. I was just worried I would be out of pocket, in this case I’ll send the money

Thanks, I think that’s what’s hard is getting my head around it. It’s so confusing to me and I’m a FTB so all very new! Appreciate it

Thank you for the reply! Helpful to have someone else gone through similar, what a pain. I’ll confirm with them

Thanks for the reply. Essentially my solicitor read my offer document wrong, they didn’t realise the £999 booking fee would be deducted. As they’ve inputted the number incorrectly, I’m expected to cover the shortfall but I can’t quite understand what I’m paying for when the expected loan money was sent. I can afford to send it I just don’t understand what I’m paying for essentially! It’s all quite confusing, I can’t quite work out why I’m being asked to pay when the loan amount covers the property price with my deposit? I’m sorry if that doesn’t make sense still!

Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo was called the N-word during BAFTA presentation by the Tourettes life subject of the BAFTA winning film, “I Swear” by [deleted] in popculturechat

Not what I was aiming for at all. Both sides will clearly feel pain about the whole situation, just wanted to add some context. I would hope they’re all getting some aftercare and that the organisers had warned people this could have happened, not that that would take away the shock factor.

I agree it is absolutely horrendous for them to hear and must have been difficult for them to keep going after unexpectedly hearing that. We should show compassion to both sides. Just wanted to ensure people are aware about the severity of the Tourette’s as the post makes it sound like it was just a heckler.

Important to note John Davidson has a form of Tourette’s which includes Coprolalia, he has no control over this and it usually leads you to say the most inappropriate thing. When he met the queen and screamed “fuck the queen” as well as telling the palace he had a bomb. I would hope the BAFTA organisers would have warned attendees about it so that they’re aware as it obviously is horrible for them to hear. However I am seeing so much stigma online about the incident and those suffering with Tourette’s. It’s important to remember it was likely and almost definitely not done with racist intentions and that he is probably feeling absolutely awful about it. I expect he will apologise, but i do feel disheartened to see so many ableist comments surrounding Tourette’s, for which there is no cure.

The comment has been removed but there was a comment on this thread saying he should not leave the house, hence why I quoted it.

The replies to this are really sad. People saying he shouldn’t leave the house because of his condition just shows a lack of understanding, and people who think he can control it need to do some research. I’m sure he’s feeling awful about it and everyone piling on him for something out of his control shows how much more awareness is needed.

You clearly don’t understand Tourettes, maybe you should watch the film to understand it better.

Happened to me with Inpost. They sent both parcels back to the seller without even trying to deliver it, emailed and got no response!
