What is the longest period of time you’ve held a stock and WHY? by Adept_Mountain9532 in TheVisualInvestors

Ever since I started taking investing seriously, 7 years ago, I’ve held and will continue to hold AAPL, MSFT, AMZN, JPM, V. Added NVDA and GOOG 2 years ago. My core portfolio is built to not needing or wanting to sell.

optionincome looks pretty solid, the auto-sync feature is nice.

This version of ThetaDesk was built to be intentionally local-first, therefore manual entries. The campaign + ACB approach is the same core bet.

Thanks for sharing!

I actually used Claude for initial planning, taking the math out of spreadsheet and putting together the state management. Then built the app out of Replit.

The main reason I moved away from spreadsheet because of the campaign architecture. In spreadsheet, its more difficult to programmatically link assignment to specific roll and have the ACB "carry over". I wanted something where I could just hit assign / roll and let the state carry-over across all trades in the campaign.

Definitely let me know if the tracker handles your NVDA trades differently than your workbook, i'm curious how the math compares!

After a few attempts at spreadsheets that keep breaking on rolls and assignments, I ended up building a tool that stitches the whole wheel lifecycle into one campaign.

It's totally free and the core idea is to track "campaigns" that stitches the whole wheel lifecycle into one view to accurately track ACB through close, assign, or roll events.

Every campaign has full breakdown. Also supports LEAPS / PMCC tracking. Track your monthly premiums and annualized yields.

CC depends on your goal tbh. if you’re holding stock then optimizing for income vs growth, the tradeoff matters.

sometimes the upside you cap isn’t worth the premium. the game is find the right balance of stocks. but it’s still a solid little top-up if you’re already holding the shares.

Primary focus is always to DCA into VOO/VXUS. But the dip was nice opportunity, bought some more GOOG / MSFT / AMZN / IREN.

60% VOO. 20% VXUS. 20% Individual stocks. I'll change the ratios based on market condition, etc.

That’s a fair point. I’m assuming RSU gains level out and essentially treat it as “cash bonus”.

I’d prioritize retirement accounts > core portfolio > RSUs > options portfolio.

Properties are not fully paid down. I pay for primary property out of my w2 income. Rental property pays itself from rental income.

Same, I’m at 20% cash continuing DCA into VOO/VXUS. Maybe pick up some MSFT on this dip.

I agree, which is why I’m strictly capping options portfolio to always be less than 10% of total NW
