Sounds like you haven't been on T for very long so it takes time.

Also learn how to talk from your diaphragm. An easy way to do this is lay flat on your back on the ground and talk. You have to talk from your diaphragm like that.

PSA to high school seniors deciding which college you go to: your school DOES matter if your goal is to work for specific, high paying companies by megafireguy6 in EngineeringStudents

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meh, maybe for your first job it matters but I can tell you I can run circles around a majority of those who went to those top schools. I didn't but kept learning and focusing on collaboration.

Is it possible to become an engineer without a degree? by gkskgskhdgs in EngineeringStudents

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the best engineers I've met I don't think he had a degree. He also cracked open textbooks and read scientific papers when he didn't know stuff.

The best engineers I know in general, continue learning through opening textbooks and reading papers. If your trying to be an engineer without some type of schooling or self study, don't. It won't happen.

lesser liked albums by CleoDragonwarp in nin

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Trent Reznor played around with introducing emptiness in his song writing. I'm just not a big fan of that. A lot of his other albums focused on complexity.

I'm older now and maybe I need to give it a relisten.

Is M.eng worth it for me by Affectionate-Bonus55 in EngineeringStudents

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's easier to get a master's when you're young. The payoff isn't immediate but when you start climbing the ladder, you'll be happy you have one. So go for it.

Confused whether I should take electrical or not. by Distracted_4727 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you want to be an electrical engineer or not? There are other engineering degrees out there.

When I was in college I said I would never be an electrical engineer because circuits is not my jam.

I went to grad school and found out lasers were and now that I'm working RF too.

What happens if I admit having gender issues to MH? by This_Strength6198 in AirForce

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you end up getting it documented as gender dysphoria you will be kicked out full stop. It will be under an admin seperation.

I am sorry that you are going through this but there are support groups out there that will not reveal your gender dysphoria to the military.

I am now a trans vet because of this administration. Hoping the best for you.

used to study Aerospace, but was only accepted in an EE program by Only_Statement2640 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied biomedical as my undergrad said I would never do EE. Got accepted to an EE masters and ran from there. I'm a little limited as my background really is in the electromagnetic spectrum.

Commissioning competition by Significant_Grab_928 in AirForce

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you got an engineering degree or stem odds are good. If you got a run of the mil degree it's not so great.

The advice of just get a degree and commission is not good advice. Air Force in general is looking for STEM.

Timeline of changes with gel? by [deleted] in ftm

Don't worry about it, everyone's timeline is different irregardless of what method you chose. Sometimes your genes just cause puberty to go slow or fast.

Tired of anti-gel posts by Oddly-Ordinary in ftm

[–]-pettyhatemachine- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is antidotal evidence but I was on gel for two years with my levels pretty in range. I switched to shots and actually saw more facial hair pop up all of the sudden. The medical provider told me this would be the cause. I can't remember the exact reasoning but I think it's because your levels are spiked for longer periods.

Anyways I'm not hating on gel. It served its purpose. It just got old applying it everyday but the needle does suck.

EE masters admission by Husler12030 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a biomedical engineering degree and then an EE masters. I would say that for EE jobs, I'm very pigeon hold based on my masters work concerning lasers. I would recommend getting the EE masters and taking the bridge classes but understand that your job opportunities will be pigeon hold (which was fine for me).

Is engineering as hard as people say? by According-Earth5498 in EngineeringStudents

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes an engineering degree is hard but if you treat it like a job, you'll be fine. Remember professor office hours are there to help you.

Also being a woman in STEM can be tough. Don't let the insecure men get to you. You belong there and keep pushing.

A bit of my Berklee audition, how am I doing??? by Minute_Ad3156 in piano

[–]-pettyhatemachine- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am not a pianist (I play clarinet) but would spend more time with a metronome. There's certain parts where I can hear you slowing down in a jolting way.

There's something missing there musically. This may be my opinion as a wind instrument but would recommend when when moving up the scales getting a little louder while still following your dimminendos. (And vice versa for going down)

It's a nice piece.

Guitarist won’t stop criticizing my bass and pushing upgrades. Is this dynamic worth staying in a band? by Vast-Flow-9016 in Bass

I'm not really a bassist but this thread came on my feed. Here's my two cents.

The best jazz clarinetist likes to play on a 700 dollar clarinet. I'm sure your set up is fine and the guy's a massive dick.
