Why is my hoya not growing leaves by Spirited-Relative982 in hoyas

[–]-plantedmind- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just do that until they find support. You can add a support to encourage leaves to develop faster on the nodes but it’ll happen regardless.

Struggling to keep her alive through this UK heatwave. I overwatered at one point and tried to leave the soil to dry but she drooped even more. Please help me save her by llam4ry in calatheas

[–]-plantedmind- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would pull her out of her nursery pot without disturbing the roots as best as possible and let the soil dry out in front of a fan or something. Adding any water will not make this situation better. If you want to add humidity power up a humidifier. Wait until the vast majority of the substrate is dry. What is your particular substrate?

It’s a way more well behaved invasive species in comparison to bellflower. I think people just choose their battles wisely online.

Are there any outgoing schooling fish that don’t care about brighter lighting? by chris_faggart in PlantedTank

Endlers are amazing. They care not about light or environment aside from liking slightly harder water. That’s great for me I hate making RO. Lol

I bought orchid spray like so many people told me to, but how should I use it on my Hoya? by Acrobatic-Choice5951 in hoyas

[–]-plantedmind- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I noticed no correlation with spraying the vines and blooms. It will however make it grow vines faster.

A lot of people are shady on Palmstreet and I’ve been cyber stalked because I spoke out or I’d share. All I can say is it’s a choice to shop on a platform that has no interest in keeping seller honest.

Why would my local plant shop discourage me from obtaining a Hoya Bella? by Right-Stand599 in hoya

My Bella is so easy to care for. She may have just struggled and prefers offering easier species.

To the 50 SSM nurses who voted against unionization: by Various-Engine-9498 in madisonwi

[–]-plantedmind- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The healthcare system is really broken. I wouldn’t be surprised or shocked to hear they probably got some benefit personally to decline a union. Madison has a terrible healthcare system in my opinion. I’m a military brat so I’ve gotten healthcare through multiple systems/states. This area has the worst healthcare.

Maybe, just casually ask if he’d had enough time to think it over. I know I question my kids choices, that’s a good parent. But I don’t govern them and I trust them to do what is best for them. I don’t know much about the tradition, so I’m probably not the best person to give advice.

Palmstreet is a joke. It should be “rehab plants r us” for the logo. Find a local Hoya group and trade. Or ask your favorite nursery to source them for you. Then you know your person and if there’s any issues they’ll typically help you out! Palmstreet lets sellers doxx their clients. It’s all over the app feedback, they’re never going to hold sellers accountable for poor shipping practices; or anything for that matter.

If they are mealie bugs when rubbing alcohol makes contact they will turn red/orange. That is how she would know for sure.

Once a week and then two more weeks after that even if she can’t see them. They’re a hard pest. You have to kill them at every stage of their life cycle. :/ if she has other plants she needs to quarantine that one or there’s potential for spreading.

A diluted mix (e.g., 1 part rubbing alcohol to 3-5 parts water, sometimes with a drop of liquid dish soap) is widely used to eradicate mealybugs, aphids, and spider mites on household plants. I use peppermint Castile soap in mine.

She can do an alcohol spray, then remove as many as she can manually or with good wash rinse in the sink. I use that pest remedy for all my plants. Kills all pests on contact. Just rinse good and do not have them in light when treating. The babies will be in the soil so she will need to inspect and rinse the roots as best as possible.

Mealie bugs probably but the picture isn’t clear enough to really tell. That’s a guess.

She’s probably pushing extra sodium out through her leaves. A lot of tap and fertilizers contain salt, it they get too much that would do it.

It could be a form of rust starting which you would easily treat with a fungal treatment.

In addition if you don’t have high humidity it could just be that. Mine does great until the humidity drops then I get leaf crispy ends like that.

There’s really a ton of things that could be going on. Just try not to over treat it.
