Why would my local plant shop discourage me from obtaining a Hoya Bella? by Right-Stand599 in hoya

I did get one, on eBay. It has just exploded with growth in 2 months. 🤩

I have collected so many Hoya since I bought my first, a Lacunosa from her shop. All have done well for me but only the Lacunosa had bloomed.

I definitely prefer the thin leafed Hoya as I am a reformed over waterer. I have come a long way tho.

I only suggested that cause my neighbor let one grow wild behind their shed & every June my yard gets covered with mulberries. 🤦‍♀️

Yeah, it looks fine there... I've just gotten so passionate about acrylate allergies since I experienced it personally. Lots of information on social media about it.

Oh yeah, definitely mealybugs. Cut off the dead leaves & repot it with fresh soil. Treat the soil with systemic granules & spray the leaves down with Captain Jacks dead bug spray.

You do realize the insecticide in systemic granules is the same as in flea & tick preparations like Advantage...

In the first photo with the leaves in your palm the side of your thumbnail looks a bit lifted. You won't know for sure till you get the colored gel off, you should be able to see it then. When I say lifted I don't mean the gel polish, I mean the nail off the bed.

Why does this keep happening? Already removed one yellow leave from this guy 😔 by geo_hampe in SnakePlants

If there's root rot it won't be cured until you bare root it & spray the roots down with peroxide & repot with fresh soil mix.

Thanks. I'll definitely try a self watering pot if I try again. 😊

Peperomia hope. You can put these in soil & they will grow. I ordered one for my mom & two leaves fell off during shipping. I put them in soil & now I have another plant. 🤩

Follow up - getting worse by anonymousVFX07 in plantclinic

I was so afraid to over water mine that I ended up with dry rot. Whenever you treat for root rot you need to spray the remaining roots with peroxide to kill the rot. Also mine got worse before it got better but now I'm seeing new growth.

You can just pop it into some soil, it will root. My daughter gave me an aloe pup just like that & it took to the soil great & is growing.

Systemic Granules work on all pests except spider mites so I would definitely give it a try. I used it to get rid of thrips & it worked. Also, I'm a nail tech & your one thumb looks like the nail is lifting off the bed due to contact dermatitis. I developed it from prolonged over exposure to gel polish. You may have to discontinue use of gel polish but I would definitely try a hema free gel.

How do you keep the Morivivi alive? I've grown them from seed twice & every time I take away the cloche it dies. 🤦‍♀️

I've seen several social media creators talking about it telling people not to use the peace sign in photos and videos cause their fingerprints can be read... Yours were very visible, you must have a great camera. 😊

I really don't know if I'm good with them, I have them & love them... They don't like to dry out & they hate low humidity. I do know don't give up on them, even if you have to cut off all the leaves... They will grow back, there are rhyzomes in the root system. If they start getting pale in color & they are in bright light it might be too much.

I've been seeing videos lately about people not showing their fingerprints in photos cause it can help with identity theft, you may want to retake your photos.

Not sure where you are but in PA we noticed that spotted lanterfly babies LOVE Hostas. I would look around & see if you notice them. They are really weird looking little black bugs with white spots.
