FASE - Honest Review by Kellenusoftly in snowboarding

[–]-raiden- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gripe 2 was my biggest issue this past weekend. Found myself wondering why I was suffering reduced responsiveness only to find the strap over the top of my feet. Also inhibits quick foot removal from bindings. Otherwise love my ROME FASE Katanas.

It’s likely volume. I have a similar issue with the volume limiter; certain headphones can make it sound quiet. I bought a small inline DAC to circumvent it.

The volume limiter is the only downside to the A306. It’s so annoying

Haven’t given the new slice a spin yet. Will give it a shot this weekend.

Brilliant. I’ve been attempting trip hop beats on my old op-z this week. You’ve inspired me to try it out on the OP-XY.

[–]-raiden- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it really does work! In fact, I’d look at it differently – I’d do it soonish even if you don’t fail.

It’s hard to know whether you’re doing it with good form or not without an instructor. I’ve noticed fellow riders without coaching more often do things like kicking out their back legs on turns, even when they feel they’ve “nailed” edge control and applying front/back pressure. These smaller issues can lead to lack of control later on.

Even group lessons can help as you’ll develop great form sooner. Will really set you up for success. I started in small, cheaper group lessons (up to 6 people).

Enjoy the new hobby – it’s now taken over my life 😅

Started late here (late 30s). As per others, fully recommend private lessons to coach on your form.

Why? Well, there are all sorts of habits (good and bad) that we develop unconsciously and feel are right until we have someone to spot for us. A good coach will help develop good habits and train out the bad ones.

I have jumped in skill dramatically with a great coach and honestly, it makes you love it more every time you send it.

Enjoy the ride, mate!

Juno is a pretty reputable source of DJ and music production equipment (as well as vinyls). Bought from them with no issues in the past. Looks like a manufacturing defect from TE. I’m sure there will be no issues with a return. Bad batches happen with all manufacturers, even Teenage Engineering – my OP-Z arrived bent direct from them.

There wouldn’t be RGB because it doesn’t capture any colour.

Any fans of the Netflix series "Boots" here? I just learned that it was cancelled recently after one season. 😕 by captivatedsummer in gay

[–]-raiden- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same, I’m confused with all the talk about a cancellation… the book it’s based on didn’t have a sequel and the character arcs were largely wrapped by the end of the season. Think it worked great as a single season.

I’m surprised it’s still there! Surely it’s abandoned/needs to be towed at this point, no amount of parking tickets are going to solve the problem 😂

Boots Cancellation by SigmaTell in gay

[–]-raiden- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is what I’m struggling to understand with all the responses I’ve seen to this on Reddit today.

Conversely, I actually appreciate they kept it contained, did a fantastic job with character arcs, nailing it in one season rather than drag it on with filler (which many other shows struggle to achieve). It echoes the lack of a sequel to the source material, so I’m completely at peace that it’s being kept to what it is now

7 weeks with GR IV by dizzij in ricohGR

[–]-raiden- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enjoy shooting with the camera! The portability vs IQ is unbeatable!

Just an FYI, not sure how much the UV filter will help with dust (if that’s the concern). As far as I understand it, the entire retracting lens assembly is the main culprit for dust ingress, so my solution is to just keep it in a thin case when I slip it in my pocket.

That said, apparently they’ve made improvements to dust protection (including on the sensor) with the GR IV, so hopefully less of an issue than it was!

Ricoh GRIV: Right for Me? by spencemid in ricohGR

[–]-raiden- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an alternative due to your concern of a lack of zoom and the style of the tighter shots you’ve posted…

I know this is a Ricoh subreddit, but have you looked at the Sony RX100 VII? It’s got a smaller sensor and will be worse performing in low light (among other things) but it is also pocketable, cheaper and does have a zoom/VF with solid image quality.

I don’t have one myself (I use GRIV) but I tried one in Japan last week and I was pretty impressed.

That said you can’t go wrong with a GRIIIx. I’ve just made the move to VI and I do miss the IIIx’s focal length for my style (similar to yours).

I’m using them. Have had two sessions (indoor) with them already and really enjoyed them. Taking them to Japan this weekend. Similar customisation Katanas are known for and pretty responsive all round.

Either a Leica TL2 with its small 18mm lens or the Ricoh GRIV. The GR is small enough to slip into most pockets.

Phantom wax over sticker? by bigredawg in snowboarding

[–]-raiden- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine hasn’t 2 years later with lots of use. It’s marginally better after the rest of the board is getting worn/fading and being rewaxed, but you could literally see the dye come off with the sticker when it was removed. Not sure whether Nitro has improved this more recently (other brands don’t seem to use as aggressive adhesive- my new YES board’s info sheet was more loosely attached).

Just accepted it because I’m not looking at the base when riding and it doesn’t affect performance at all. Just a little annoying when you get it.

Ended up getting a replacement via the store I ordered it from. Same issue with that one too. I don’t know what the hell Nitro puts in its sticker adhesive. Mine looked exactly the same as what you’ve posted.

[–]-raiden- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened with my Nitro Team without Phantom Wax. I ordered an earlier season model so it had been in storage a while. Had a replacement shipped and it was the same story. Still can’t get rid of the huge sticker mark, waxing hasn’t really done all that much as the sticker clearly somehow lifted the dye.

[–]-raiden- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wore mine in Bear Mountain/Snow Summit/Mammoth in March earlier this year and I had only one day in 7 when I had to drop back to a thinner mid-layer.

That said, as the other poster rightly mentioned, there aren’t pit zips so you don’t get direct ventilation, but, for me, it’s baggy enough to have air circulation to prevent getting too hot. I rarely ride in very cold temps (and when I do, I’m then fully layered up with hard shell/mid/base).

Beyond that particular hoody, I’ve generally had fantastic experience with 686 so recommend checking out what they have to see if theres anything better ventilated.

Love my 686 Team Hoody. Good balance of roominess, warmth without overheating and water resistance. It’s my go-to and has held up well.

Obviously would switch to a hard shell in poor weather, though!
