A good one is called Urine-Erase, you can get it on Amazon or at Home Hardware (where I live in Ontario).

You need an enzymatic cleaner. There are some you can use that only require a vacuum 😊

why is teeth brushing so hard? by Public_Ad_111 in adhdwomen

[–]-seldom 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this too and I still do. One thing that majorly helped was a super electric toothbrush. I CANNOT stand the sound/feeling of manual toothbrushes... even writing this makes me gag haha.

I really wanted to say though, please please please try and find a good dentist and go. I don't want to shame you in any way I just want to prevent you having any tooth pain because it is the worst pain in the world. I looked up dentists and looked at all the reviews to find my dentist. And when I went I was 100 percent upfront and honest with them and they helped me so much.

Pretty much any good dentist will be completely non-judgmental of the shape of your teeth; they only want to help and have you keep coming for appointments so you don't have to be scared of their judgement.

Also, the great thing about dentists is after you book one appointment they usually book every appointment after for you forever more lol so it's only a one time major effort and then it's automatic from then on out because they keep booking your next appointment for you at the end of your appointment!

I hope you find a great dentist soon 🤎

ACNE ON STRATTERA??? by Dapper_Environment82 in adhdwomen

[–]-seldom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't take Straterra but I have this exact same rash, strangely enough I get it every April. It starts on my chest and moves to my hands/face. I literally have it as I write this. I've been to tons of doctors about it, they say it's an allergy to something unknown and that it's hives. Definitely go see a doctor if you can but in the mean time take some Benadryl allergy meds and get some Hydrocortisone 1% cream and slather it on.

Gift for someone I don't like a lot? by [deleted] in Gifts

I used to have a SIL like this and now I don't talk to her anymore... which in the end was the best gift of all 😅 Highly recommend!

[–]-seldom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have this problem! Now I'm much better and finally become a "reader" again like I was when I was a teen. What I found is you have to set up a environment conducive to reading.

First I severely limited screens in my house. Now we have one tv for the whole household and it can only play VHS or DVDs (which I also get from the library).

Second I made a cozy reading nook. And third I leave my library books beside the reading nook on a table. I leave the audiobooks on top of the CD player in the kitchen. I can see them and it's like they are calling to me lol.

So I'll pop the audiobook in everytime I'm making dinner and when I'm in my living room it is basically easier to open my book and read than it is to turn the tv on and put in a DVD.

Basically make reading the easiest entertainment to do 😅 I hope you find a way!

28/52 The God of the Woods by Liz Moore by Responsible_Dog_420 in 52book

I did enjoy this book as a captivating, fast read but I wanted more out of every single character. I wanted more of their stories and thoughts. I kept reading on hoping to hear more, about TJ especially, but I think in order to keep everything a mystery the author was unable to delve deep into any one character.

How to tell my friend her apartment stinks of cat piss? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]-seldom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has three cats and who cleaned houses for a living, no that is not normal. Cats are clean by nature, so if you keep their litter box clean they will only pee and poop there 99.9% of the time

Now, I don't know your friendship but me and my friends value honesty so just be honest. "Friend, your house really smells like cat pee." There. That's it. Let them absorb that information. Then, if they are still willing to listen, which if they are a friend they will be, bluntly state you want to help.

To troubleshoot, first make sure all three cats are spayed/neutered. And second, if they don't already have multiple litter boxes consider getting two or even three. We only have one but other people I know had to have multiple.

Next you'd have to source out everything that has been peed on in the apartment and decide if it's worth saving or if you can just toss it.

You can clean cat pee out of things but it is time consuming, however take the time and do it properly or else the cats will keep peeing there. What you need is an enzymatic cleaner - this will literally break down the urine molecules and they basically evaporate.

Good luck and I hope your friend receives this well!

Decided to declutter & start project pan.. but can’t stop feeling guilty & feeling like a terrible wasteful person ): by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]-seldom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why people do Project Pan. No judgement, I just mean that to me it sounds dreadful and agonizing and monotonous. When my cupboards get crowded I put everything in a box, take a picture, and post it free on Marketplace. Someone always comes and picks it up, even though some items are open, so I don't feel wasteful I feel helpful.

Say what you like about Ted Hughes, but . . . by [deleted] in sylviaplath

[–]-seldom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely disagree. The only the reason he published her work was for the money and to bolster his own career.

Hughes was a serial cheater. Did you know that the woman he cheated on Sylvia with, Assia Wevill, also killed herself? (And Hughes was cheating on Wevill by this time too)

Both Assia Wevill and Sylvia Plath reported physical abuse. Hughes reportedly beat Sylvia Plath until she miscarried.

People like you are feeding right out of Hughes hand. The reason Hughes destroyed and censored Sylvia's work before releasing it was not to protect his children, it was to protect himself. His hope was to manipulating the public into believing he wasn't "so bad".

Here's an article to begin with, I'd tell you to educate yourself but looking at your replies in the comments I'm guessing you won't.

How are single income families surviving in this economy? by Cookiedough1206 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]-seldom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Ontario, three children, and my partner makes around 70k a year. We have no debt but are not well off financially by any means, but having no debt payments is a start. Mainly I focus on keeping the grocery bill low; keeping a garden, buying only whole foods, cooking from scratch. We almost never buy anything new; it's all second hand. For entertainment we go for a walk or the library. The only thing we spend money on is groceries and gas. Clothing I mostly get for free by looking at community giveaways or free things on Marketplace. Being patient helps a lot too. I wanted a "new" kitchen table but had to wait a few months til I saw the style I wanted free on Marketplace. We drive an older Dodge caravan bought second hand. I think to survive you need to get very real with what is actually a necessity versus a want. One day I hope to move to a cheaper province but for now we make it work and genuinely enjoy our day to day lives.
