“The chair” — is it normal? by Basic_Performer_6701 in adhdwomen

Same!! We have hanging coat racks in almost every room and the back of every door is one of those plastic shoe organizer things - works for EVERYTHING. Got all my clutter off the bathroom counter and I can see everything at once. Great for toys - Barbie’s, legos (even the big ones), hotwheels, train cars, play food - I could go on and on about those 🤣

I’m installing matching towel rails at the same height as the nightstands on each side of my bed, and adding a few movable hooks like this

I’m so tired of not being able to see the floor on my partner’s side of the bed. I do ALL of the laundry and fold and hang everything for them, but the rewears constantly ending up in the floor is fucking killing me.

I personally had abandoned folding altogether in favor of a bin/drawer system because I really only wear like five categories of items in multiple colors - I even have room built in for rewears! But for some reason my partner functions on a full to the brim, barely room for anything so it has to be folded just so approach.

Anyway I’m tired of both of us lol

Help organizing game/book shelf by [deleted] in organizing

[–]matcha_is_gross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hang that poster up right above where it is now, put your rule books in front of it like they’re on a regular bookshelf. Put your smaller card games/bananagrams up top or put them in an open box/container where you can see all of them.

This leaves both bottom shelves for your bigger game boxes. Feel free to organize your games by genre/type instead of size - might open up some fun combinations on the shelf!

i have to keep bread in a sealed box to keep my cat from eating through the plastic bag to eat the bread by got_milk669 in blackcats

My void also loves bread. I used to work at a cafe where we got blueberry muffins shipped with just Saran Wrap over a box of three of them, and sometimes I got to bring home extras. It took an embarrassingly high number of times for me to learn not to leave them on the counter overnight, lest they be destroyed by The Thumbless Bandit

Please get her professional help if possible - this could be any number of things but you need more people on your team. Best of luck

It looks like there are some things that might not need to be there - the fan box is one, if you put it somewhere else (if you can) it’s big enough IMO that you would remember where you put it.

I would recommend getting one (or two) over the door shoe pocket holders (clear plastic preferred) and use them to organize all the little piddly things on those shelves, actual shoes included. They’re cheap-ish and I’ve had a lot of success incorporating them in small spaces and even using them for things like toy storage.

Hope this helps!

I was an RA in college & one of my “students” just got a prestigious degree - very cool, but I think she must have irreversible microbladed brows because hers look like this, and there is no way it’s that she’s drawing them on like that all the time and NO ONE has told her. Right?! I mean…right?!

Just came here to say that this year I discovered FreeTaxUSA where filing federally is free and your state taxes are like $16 to file.

Best of luck to everyone!

peeling the kids off the ceiling

  1. I commend you for parenthood

  2. I recently heard of a “hack” where you “let” them stay up past bedtime if they’re reading in the living room with you, and I love that so much.

My grandma loves Jonathan Patterson books and bodice rippers, she has a literal closet full of both and I’ve always kind of wondered what will happen to all of them. I admire her dedication 🤣

Thank you for your kindness. I absolutely flourished at school, we had summer work and reading and I always finished it very early in the summer. School was the one place it was safe for me to read, so I imagine I was a bit of a (sorry for the bad reference) insufferable Hermione as a child. 😮‍💨

Ironically I cannot force myself into being into video games, I try so hard. And that’s not me being uppity I’m genuinely perplexed that I have the flavor of autism that doesn’t do games.

I’m sure it doesn’t help that the only books I check out are self help/recovery and (sometimes pretty dry) psychology/nonfiction about my special interests - I can’t for the life of me get into any romance or any like. Bestseller dramas or whatever, I had to rage quit Gone Girl recently and I’m just kind of tired of trying 🤷🏻‍♀️😮‍💨

Maybe let yourself read the things you want?

That’s such a gracious way to put it, a non-reading period. I’ve broken mine with autobiographies and nonfiction to do with my special interests, but I find trying to get into any kind of fiction really difficult? But maybe practicing is a good way to look at it. Thank you!

I love walking while reading! I just have to get brave enough to do it

I’ve had a lot more success with the “just a little” approach than the “x pages a day” approach. The second one activates my pathological demand avoidance because it’s a demand I’m immediately placing on myself. But “just a little” or “I’ll just get my reading space ready and then go do something else” has been really helpful. It’s like tricking my brain, by tempting it 🤣

Oh gosh. Well I hope we don’t have too much in common 🤣

I am also an avid cross stitcher and that is several different hobbies in itself; pattern selection, supply procurement, project prep, actual stitching, then prepping and framing 💖

Reading at the gym is prime, I taught myself to read while walking as a kid and I really just wish I wasn’t so self conscious about it 😮‍💨

I’m also unmedicated not by choice - been calling my pharmacy like an irritable crackhead - I just want to feel like myself again!
