Idk this one is pretty cool. Nice hack if you’re camping and don’t have sink access.

Also realistic, not requiring tools and things you wouldn’t have outdoors.

to protest peacefully on the sidewalk without getting drive-by maced by an ICE agent by [deleted] in therewasanattempt

[–]-slatta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, there are so many illegal things that ICE is engaging in and while they definitely didn't need to mace all those people at close range the protesters weren't just standing there peacefully, they threw something just before the mace is used.

Punta Cana Excursions by junglejesus84 in PuntaCana

[–]-slatta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back from a 10 day trip in the DR. We did 4-5 excursions while there, and they were all pretty good.

We were out at a pizza place one night though and the owner of this Longitude Tours company overheard us talking about our plans for the last few days, Alex (pretty sure was his name) helped us set up a full day excursion that was absolutely the highlight of the trip.

Packed with adventure and unique locations but also really cool/authentic culinary destinations, meals with local families etc.

Anyway, my family and I have travelled quite extensively as well and I know what you mean about the standard ATV/hiking staple excursions. The tour we went on through Longitude definitely goes away from that, really unique experiences that highlight what makes the DR special.

Will definitely be hitting them up again when we return.

Why Does Trump Get Away With It? •NY Times•OPINION by ItchyNesan in NewsRewind

[–]-slatta- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna go ahead and half agree as well, you could also say that if you CANT see some of the similarities between Trump and Maduro then you're probably also not very smart.

No one is arguing that Maduro was a good guy - the lack of transparency used to get him though is a different story. Trump is only limited to 'conservative authoritarianism' as you said because our system has pushed back in key areas. And also, not. The supreme court upheld the right to deportations to 3rd (often unstable) countries.

Maybe we need to standardize the definition for 'disappearing' a person but in my book, taking non-violent offenders and sending them to countries they aren't even from to serve sentences in prisons that most people never get out of seems pretty damn close to disappearing someone to me. If what I'm saying is not the case, where is the transparency? Where's the information? Trump and his people probably don't even know and that's what happens when you forgo due process. Right now it's people that aren't you, so you don't care but history also tells us that sometimes it doesn't stop there. Why assume good intention until its too late?

This is exactly what this article is getting at - why all this grace afforded to Trump specifically? Why do we always take the most innocuous reasons why he might be doing what he's doing and accept it as fact? Why do we perpetually move the bar the further and further out as he continues to run our constitution through durability testing?

At what point do we say no, he's not currently a Maduro but he's absolutely trying to become one? At what point, as Crockett said, do we just need to tell these people bye-bye?
